There's a lot of talk online about how to get to Mexico using various glitches but I haven't seen much about exploring outside the western/northern/eastern boundaries of the game until I came across this youtube video showing an easy way to get out of the map that still works in 1.05: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaVezKuc1jI I've been exploring outside the boundary of the map to the west, north and east for a while now and I'm absolutely STAGGERED at how much map there is outside the normal boundary of the map. I have not seen this much out of boundary map in any other game. Not all of it is fully textured or completed, and you do need to watch out for "fall through" ground at the very outer limits (where you get stuck in an infinite falling loop) but there are literally miles and miles of ground normally invisible and inaccessible that are fully rendered. Many areas don't have wildlife but some do. I've attached map screenshots to show just how far the out of bounds area goes - with the north and north east being the most interesting to explore so far, and I haven't got anywhere near exploring it all. It seems like there is nearly half as much area outside the normal boundary as there is inside it. The youtube video shows two ways to get out - one a cave near Pronghorn Ranch, and the second a cave near The Loft. The first cave is very easy - just take enough booze to get yourself drunk, go into the cave to the location shown then get drunk enough to pass out and you'll respawn nearby outside the map. Easy - except without your horse it just takes far too long to get anywhere and that area is largely snow so even slower going and not nearly as interesting as the north east part. The second cave is much more difficult - there is a piece of rock you need to run up and slide on, it can take dozens of attempts to get it right. However when you do eventually get it right it's worth it - after passing out you'll respawn just above the cave still within the normal boundary of the map, however it is a high section that is not normally reachable. Go north slightly east and you will find a way to cross the map boundary. Just past this boundary you'll find some wild horses, calm or lasso then tame a horse and you will then have transport to explore. I recommend finishing the game before exploring out of the map, and go to a fence first to fully upgrade your pouch so you have a huge inventory space to carry ridiculous amounts of booze (to pass out to get out of the map) food, horse reviver, and other supplies. There is no way all this extra map area was created only as backdrop to be seen from afar - there is perfectly detailed scenery going on for miles that can never even be seen from the distance. It's pretty clear that a lot more map was made for the game than we got to see, and they then added artificial "slippery" barriers and rock faces to keep us inside a reduced area after deciding that all that extra area wasn't necessary for story purposes. Some of the terrain and the very limits looks procedurally generated, but a lot looks hand crafted. I don't know what happens if you try to save and reload outside the map, I haven't tried to do that yet! Most likely you'll just end up back inside the map.2 points

Thematic character names would be great. We got to name our character, but why? It's never used. Instead of Western names, all I ever see is XL ShottyKing XL or bLaZeBoi48. Shame2 points

I got sniped by a guy at level 6 with a Rolling Block yesterday. Those things shouldn't be available at all until the appropriate level.2 points

If you've never been griefed? So why so paranoid? If you keep shooting at everyone on sight, you'll provoke players into a battle with you. Considering people tend to re-spawn close and some will chase you to the ends of the maps. For example.. Anyone shooting me for no reason.. Especially with my guns holstered means they wanna battle. I don't care if was riding my horse in their direction.2 points

Could we have a Seniors Mode? I'm 68 years old and my nervous system and 56K modem just cant cope with the 14 year old griefers and the jumpy graphics. A casino on the Wapiti Reservation with a Denny's down the trail and we stay out of your way. Win/win.2 points

Today I tested Online for an hour. I think it was enough. Then I powered off my PS4. The game is beautiful, we all know. Now I think back to RDR in 2010. What do we have here ? Nicer graphics, great. New story,ok, it's finished. DLCs ? ok, not yet. Online ? Beta, fine, and to be honest RDR original with undead nightmare is much better than this. So at the end....aren't we just repeating the whole RDR "package" ? Somebody passes hours and hours killing others...well...tons of games to do that, and a lot faster and better. I don't know...I'm rethinking all of it. Am not sure about anything anymore. I don't know, I just don't know. Maybe the psycological hype we had in the last two/three years blew a big bubble...and now it kind of exploded....for me at least...don't know. Just sharing what I was thinking. Not being negative. Hope not to disturb anybody. Any comments will be glad to read. Maybe I need some input...oh well. Have a good evening, ciao from Italy.1 point

It certainly has that girth if you know what I mean 🤣, I'm definitely leaning toward the Turkoman. If I could gift it you I'd do it in a heartbeat. Imagine if they implemented an horse auction function in RDO, one can dream anyway.1 point

The Turkamon is the total package. Speed, health, and stamina. Because its multi classed, it doesn't get spooked as easy, and can gallop like the wind too. The decider for me, however is its size. It looks like a horse and not a pony, and trust me... Size matters.1 point

I am doing the last of the challenges and they are just like the exotics, a huge pain in the ass. I have said it before and I will say it again, R* should have made the challenges just as enjoyable as the rest of their game. This comes from one that literally are in love with story mode and all the little secrets on the map and such but the challenges are really a chore.1 point

I was wondering why some guy managed to kill me twice with it with what felt like about five seconds between throwing and exploding, and me not able to get out of the way. I just figured it was bad luck. He got his, though.1 point

Trouble is, troll so out do load their horse then attack you, and when you kill them you'd have to pay a fortune.1 point

You could technically do that now, but I'm guessing your pals wouldn't be very happy about it..1 point

It will be in soon, can't wait to spend my Friday night play poker with friends and then shooting them because they bust me1 point

On the plus side.. After being subjected to that sh*t for hours and hours Running into one hostile player in free roam that attacks for no reason is relaxing...lol1 point

I've already lost count on how many times people have failed the one missions where you need to chase down and hog tie Crawfish and his men. I get people trying to shoot them dead, fail.. and Crawfish and his pals get away. Its says HOG TIE them at the bottom of the screen you eeeeediotS!. Sometimes i just race off and pull them off of their horses myself.1 point

Belly flop is life. The pvp modes have made me a belly flop addict. To many fools with varmint rifles trying to play RNG with auto aim, so belly flops and cover shots are the only counter. Especially for someone like me who uses free aim. I find it funny when i dive.. then they dive.. And i just blast them on the ground while they dive. Because im not waiting for a lock on. I don't get the most kills, but i do seem to be the one who dies the least. The pvp modes in general are frustrating.. Except for the smaller team death match mode. (Which also makes me miss the old skool red dead shoot out modes) The free for all modes turns into a game of people getting killed and just respawning behind players. The spawn are just horrible. To the point where i almost walk backwards because theres a 99% chance everyone who died is going to spawn in the same place i just spawned and moved away from.1 point

There is a YT video of a player stealing a cart from an NPC (player said you have to get a cart that closes in the back so your cargo can't fall out). He then went on to put a bunch of pelts and big fish into the cart. This is something I plan on doing, but only after some anti griefing mechanics are in place. It's one thing to lose two carcasses to griefing players. It would be quite another to lose a whole cart full.1 point

There is a known bug that pelts will disappear when you go to sell them. R* are aware of it, and are trying to find a fix.1 point

When you go back to the lobby menu there is an option called purchases that allows you to buy ammo1 point

Totally yes to number 1. It would add somuch to the immersion for me. The other two are a 'why not' for me. Not overly excited about them, but would be cool if they were in. One thing I really want is the ability to remove the off-hand holster. I actually regret buying it online. Baths would be an awesome option, as would sleep and food in hotels/saloons. A few choice phrases for the character would be nice. Such as Howdy, and the like. Hair and facial hair growth would be awesome, but probably not easy to implement.1 point

And some Earl Grey near the fire too. Feel free to add but I'm not much online. Actually am into story mode 95% of the time. Ciao1 point

Still laughing....LOL....not even as I gift I'd ask for that. Crazy.1 point

Exactly..... I have to wonder why some would even claim it's unfair to allow private / invite sessions. The only people it would be unfair to are those who are trolling as there would be fewer, vulnerable targets for them to take advantage of.1 point
-
Who would be penalized? GTAV:O has private session options and I suspect RDO will too. Some folks simply don't want to be exposed to the griefers that frequent public sessions / Free Roam. They just want more PvE / co-op options to enjoy with their friends. Those that like to troll will still have their free-for-all mode to harass people in.1 point

Please forgive an old guy (69) for doing what old guys are known for....ranting nonsense. I played RDR1 on day one, and enjoyed every minute of it. I waited years to see a RDR2 release. I havent been disappointed with it. Although I am far from considering myself a hardcore gamer, I am a person that has been known to pay 200 bucks for a new video card and memory upgrades for any game that caught my fancy. I also thought that Doom was a technical marvel that would never be surpassed. Overclocking and water coolers. Tetris will never die! I have always looked at video games as being movies that we get to play the lead character. Those are the type of games that I have enjoyed the most. Shooting monsters or robots in outer space just never got the bone stiff. And like movies, everyone has their likes and dislikes. There is no accounting for taste. If anybody wants to debate whether Rio Bravo is a better western than Shane, go for it. The Wild Bunch was my favorite. I consider this a western themed video game. A genre all to itself. Rockstar put a lot of effort into this game and I think it shows. The crunch time stuff and all of the problems in production paid off in the finished product. The devils in the details are amazing. They took RDR1 and polished the sh!t out of it. They took the newer tech and made it work. To me, they wrote a compelling story. When Travis shot old yeller, it kicked me in the nuts. When .............................I got the same feeling. There are times in this game where I wished they would just get to the friggin conclusion and end it. I consider that my own impatience and not a fault of the game. At my age, slow pace isnt considered a problem....its a way of life.1 point

Play on XBox and looking for fellow mature gamers. Not much else to say my gamer tag is: UnWrappedLemon8 Feel free to add me Cheers and thanks for reading1 point

Maybe that works for some, but I fall in the catagory where I stop playing this and go play something else. I spend money for me to have fun. PvP or Trolling what ever you want to call it, is becoming less fun, cause most players don't care to be the best, they just want to bully others.1 point

HDR is a massive deal. And even if it wasn't, Rockstar sold us a game with the promise of HDR support. Technically, the game does not have any kind of HDR implementation whatsoever. This means that Rockstar LIED to consumers. That right there is a BIG DEAL!1 point
-
No, i'm far too stupid to have caught that. It's obvious to me that you're the king of sarcasm, I shant duel with you any longer. I'd rather be slaying actual demons haunting this topic, ones that could use some illumination. CRANK UP THE NITS ON THIS ISSUE PEOPLE! The PS4 blurry thread has a billion views. They are organizing, reporting, tweeting, and rallying. The HDR issue on the otherhand apparently you have to fight tooth and nail just to get 5 people to even care that it's an issue. Like I've said elsewhere, if they promised 4k, and only delivered 1080p with no explanation, and no option to change, you'd be pretty upset. This is like that but actually more impactful. So you know, might wanna keep your eye on the ball here.1 point

Whoa there nelly, I had to create an account just to respond to all the misinformation in this thread. No offense, but even the guy trying to be balanced says: "....and yes, with the proper equipment, it does make a difference for those that can tell." What what in the what? "for those that can tell"? You mean human beings with a heartbeat, ears and eyes? How about this, can you tell the difference between a 10-watt laptop speaker and a 1000w surround system? Look around the net, video reviewers have been saying for years that HDR is the real next-gen tech in A/V. The general consensus is that 4k = yawn, but HDR = WOWIE ZOWIE. This isn't a new opinion, hate to sound like a jaded A/V snob, but this discussion is like 2-3 years old. The dynamics of the image are insane with HDR, compared to the "normal SDR". It's literally like going from a HIGHLY compressed MP3 file at 64kbps to a FLAC running at 1411kbps. The sound quality is completely different. If you've ever thought that 4k was anything to be excited about, HDR should excite you more, it creates a more immediate and discernable impact on your visual cortex. With 4k most people have to ask "is this 4k?" but HDR speaks for itself. When you see it you'll know. The content is hard to find, but it's the most impressive technological leap in video the industry has seen since the invention of the colour TV. This is the first time in over 50 years that we're actually getting more colours, more luminance, the picture looks more like reality looks when you peek your head outside your door, and far more realistic than a resolution bump could ever provide. Oh, and they don't sell 1080p TVs anymore, they haven't for years. To act like there's almost no one who has a 4k HDR tv is nonsense. Basically all TVs sold in the last 2 years except for the lowest-spec ones have at least some form of HDR implementation. It's been a staple on mid-range and high-end TVs for 3-4 years. It's not new. And yeah, if you recently bought a new-ish TV with 4k and HDR, then the biggest game of the console cycle promised HDR, then just decided to lie and %100 fake it, you'd be pissed too. They might as well have claimed it was 4k and only run at 1080p, then ask "what's the big deal" and wonder why people are upset. TL;DR It's not nitpicking, it's a big deal.1 point

Not to be contrarian, but the human eye can absolutely tell the difference between 1080p and 4K: My eyesight is very, very good (not bragging, it's just a fact). I play on a 60" 4K set that's about five feet in front of me, and the difference between 1080p and 4K in video is glaring. I understand that a lot of people (like my wife) don't see the difference between standard def and 720p or from 720 to 1080. That's fine, but my wife also refuses to wear her glasses unless we're going to the movies. For her, the difference is indistinguishable without her glasses, and I would suspect that people with eye issues are going to have that problem regardless.1 point
