  1. There is no place for your concise, well thought out, level headed comments in a thread on griefing sir! Seriously though, you're spot on. They'll sort it out eventually....or they won't. Either way, I'll probably still be playing this gave in 3 years...lol
  2. Are you dying during the clear out? If you die the chances of getting a map are greatly decreased.
  3. To be clear, what you wrote, in this thread, is a post. I can delete it if you like. 😎
  4. Ok, that makes more sense....lol.. I couldn't imagine you just now playing online for the first time. Yea, telling people you grind for fun will get you more than a a few stares.
  5. Ok, after reading all that one thing really sticks out..... Is this the first time you've played an online game? I ask only because this game, in the state it is in is not the best example of the online experience, lol. . If you enjoyed the story mode of RDR2 then I would definitely recommend GTA5. Same idea, bigger story mode, lots to explore, just with faster horses. 😎
  6. Are you saying that wanting to level/gear up to kill other players is somehow different/better than wanting to level/gear up to kill npcs and animals? If so, maybe you are wrong. R* has big plans for this game, a lot of which might mirror what they did with GTA. The $$$ and levels could be used to buy properties, businesses , horses, vehicles and yes clothing to dress up our dolls. If you tell me you didn't spend money to dress up your varmint rifle and other guns I'd be shocked. There is so much more to this game than the run and gun. Some people fail to see that and are content with doing just that, which is fine. Others want more out of the game than auto aim and cut scene kills. I'm in agreement with you here, I wouldn't compare most griefers to the anti-christ. I find that they are more comparable to a red bull sipping ten year old that just was told no for the first time.
  7. I know how R* works, but PVE players buy in game currency as well. There are quite a few surveys that show short term players spend more money on in game items because they don't play enough to win the games to earn those items. Sounds more like PVE player than a PVP player to me. GTA has private lobbies, ghost mode, passive mode and it is one of highest grossing games of all time, totaling well over 6 billion dollars. They achieved that by making everyone happy, because that keeps people playing the game. How much gold will people buy if they are playing Anthem instead of RDR2?
  8. If you stop what you were doing to fight back or leave the server you are allowing another person to dictate how you play the game. I do not concede to people, so this system doesn't work for me. I don't feel we should need to jump servers every time some tool decides to gun me down as I'm skinning a buck. We should have the option to jump into one server and play with like minded people. And that goes for both PVE and PVP players. The game and player base are large enough to support full servers for both sides.
  9. There aren't enough likes available for this comment.
  10. Pardon my overthinking....Here are my thoughts: Let's think back to our playground days for a minute. Imagine you're at the playground in the sandbox minding your own business and some kid, who want's you to play basketball throws the ball at your head. You tell him you don't want to play, point out there are other kids on the court that would play with him and go back to your sandbox. He plays with them, loses, so he's back throwing the ball at your head again, trying to make you play with him. At some point an adult is going to step in and separate the 2 of you. RDR2 is a large playground where some people just want to play in the sand box while others want to play something else. R* needs to be the adult and separate the 2. The literal definition of the statement "to grief" is to annoy, bother or be a general nuisance. So, with that in mind, anyone who goes out of their way to attempt to force someone to play this game one way, when there are clearly many ways to play the game, is giving grief and has earned the label griefer. That being said, R* is more at fault than anyone because if there were private lobbies none of this would even be a discussion. PVP and PVE are 2 separate entities with 2 completely different mindsets and need to be treated as such. Until that happens, us players will spend more time talking about the game in threads like this instead of playing it.
  11. Have you died while hunting? I'm curious if we still lose the pelts on the horse.
  12. Yup, the horses run when they hear the gunshots, but they will eventually stop, they don't seem to stop when told to flee with a body on the back. I'm not sure if it's been patched, but the last time I put someone on a horse and made the horse flee, they wound up a 1/4 of the map away from where they started. 😎
  13. Next time you hog time him, put him on his horse (I do this every time a posse member goes afk) and tell the horse to flee. It'll run around the map by itself and people will think he's riding for them. 😎
  14. I feel as though the underpants have been pulled over our eyes.
  15. I agree totally, not a fan of being penalized for a posse member. One of my guys' honor hasn't been good since online launched, but it's from killing npcs, not players. He's been temporarily removed from the posse until he grinds his way out. We shouldn't be listed as a bad posse because of that. Since we are still in beta, R* can/will look into tweaking the parameters, hopefully they do. Here's a thought; any trolls are most likely going to go after blue dots (possible easy target) when they see them and avoid the red dots (because red dots fire back). So having a red dot might be natural troll repellent. Plus, you'd get a potential XP bonus delivered to you every 15 minutes in the form of the NPC bounty hunters..lol
  16. Just to keep it all neat and tidy like. Let the jaw flappin commence!
  17. The wolf took me forever, because of the same reason, I kept getting attacked by other wolves. About to give up, I decided to get rid of the wolves. I dropped bait somewhat away from where I thought the legendary would spawn and waited. Two wolves showed up, took out the wolves with a bow. A few minutes later I had sights on the legendary wolf. No sure if it was the bait or killing the other wolves silently that did it, but it worked. Good luck!
  18. The tent I have, Covered Standard allows me to sit on the bed inside.
  19. Ok, so Cripps is missing, can't change my tent. Tried a few servers, no dice.No animals either. I posted my current camp. Anyone else missing Cripps?
  20. Ok, I'll check when I get home and post screen shots if I can access those camps.
  21. Some of the upgraded ones are truly boring, so true. I forget the name of the one that I have, but it has a full tent with a bed to set on in it.
  22. Are they part of the last tier? If so, I can switch my camp style and check for you when I get home.
  23. Historical text shows the crossbow was first used as early as 4th or 5th century BC in China. China also had a a repeating crossbow around that time. I'm sure there were a few of these floating around the wild west at the time frame RDR2 is set in, but they would have been pretty rare. That being said, R* is pretty limited as to what weapons from this time period to add, so I imagine will will be seeing both of these added to RDR2 at some point. Oh those poor turkeys once if they add a repeating crossbow.
  24. Should you buy one? No, buy two. I use the repeating shotgun and the sawed off. I use them primarily for defense, meaning when I'm riding some place I keep the repeater out to defend against tools and I use the sawed off for defense on foot when I'm hunting. I use it as part of my dual wield because it allows me to carry 4 weapon types. Pistol, shotgun, rifle and repeater.
  25. Not sure about close locations of moonshine, but if you are server hopping it'd probably be faster to farm jewelry to sell at the fence and then buy moonshine from him. Last time I check this location (a few patches ago) this location has 2 jewelry boxes and a platinum stop watch. It's a pretty easy run to the Emerald ranch,
