You turned them off? I honestly didn't even know that was possible to do. It wouldn't be so bad if I could turn off the logo above my own head LOL

I voted for the 3rd one. I don't mind if there is a friendly free room, if players like that. But in a PVP mode, I just don't want a big logo hovering above my head making it impossible to hide from other people. That's the one change I would make to free roam. This is why I liked hardcore mode in RDR better.

I don't think it would get to the point where we need 2 consoles, but it would certainly be awesome if her love for the game grew to that point! She's really only interested in the story line and what not...I doubt she'd play multiplayer. But you do make a good point, and I did actually do that as well with a friend with RDR. She is still struggling with the aiming as she's really not much of a gamer. Hopefully she'll get the aiming down. She played for a couple of hours yesterday and did improve a little. Now if I could convince her to shoot birds and people, we might get a little further into the story line.

I am proud to say that even MY WIFE has finally joined the wonderful world of Red Dead Redemption! Yep, I did it! After hearing me go on and on about RDR2 for so long, last weekend she said "Ok, I need to know how to play this game! I want to play the RDR story line and get involved so that when the new one comes out, I can play it too!" So, last weekend we sat down and put it on. She loves it! She has a little trouble aiming, but that will come in time I told her. She played for a couple of hours and practiced hunting, aiming, and riding. She almost beat Bonnie in that race around the ranch so the riding part is down. It was a proud moment when she picked up that controller and started learning how to play! I told her I would help her, but that she should just follow the instructions on the screen and follow along. She's even interested in the story line so that's awesome too! (I may or may not have shed a single tear in joy) 😪

Couldn't have said it better. All I can say is if it turns into a situation where I spend more time defending myself from griefers and campers rather than accomplishing tasks online, I will just play in a private session with friends. I will play online and will keep to myself, except for friends I am playing with. I sure hope they have different lobbies to choose from. I agree you can NOT trust anyone. I have had people I played with for a few hours, and then right before they leave the session, they shoot you and laugh, and then they're gone.

I agree 100%! I too played GTAO about a month ago after about a 6-8 month absence, and stopped after 20 mins for the same reason. I too will not play RDR2 ONLINE unless they have lobbies like you mentioned. I played RDR multiplayer yesterday, and as usual, I got shot outside of Warthington Ranch, and the griefer sat 20 feet from where I spawned and shot me over 7 times in a row. No chance. I'm not interested in playing online if all I do is hide from a posse of griefers ganging up on people like in GTAO.

Usually just funny little things. Like the other day I realized that John/Jack always get off the horse on the left side. Even my wife noticed it when I mentioned it. At least I have not noticed him get off the right side. When I think of how many times I've jumped off the horse, and I just noticed it the other day? lol Sometimes it's not always something to do with the story line. I also used to get steaming mad when doing something like Pike's Basin, I jump off the horse and as soon as I get off of him he starts walking forward toward the danger, and gets right in the way of the crossfire, killing him. I noticed that it only happens if I do not wait for the horse to come to a complete stop before getting off. Again, usually stupid little things but I find them entertaining at times.

I'm definitely going to play the storyline first from beginning to end. Then I will jump online. As far as going back and replaying it again is concerned, I imagine that over the next few years I will replay the story line several times over just as I did in RDR. I have played the RDR storyline probably about 6 or 7 times now. I always learn something new every time I do it LOL

I'm a beer guy. I used to drink liquor a little bit in my 20's, mainly rye. After a little while I stopped enjoying the rye buzz....made me irritable and want to fight. So, I switched to beer and have been drinking it ever since. Budweiser is the usual, but I also enjoy Carona in the summer and Moosehead. However....I seldom will play video games when I'm drinking. I do, but once I get to a certain point of drunkness, the game goes off. I don't mind games like Tetris or Pacman, but anything that takes focusing like RDR I can't play after 5 or 6 beers, as I tend to get sloppy in my play. Also, the homemade chicken wings I make every Friday are surely a poison for me lol

I definitely respect that dude. Was there about 16 years ago....now she plays with me online, so hopefully when he/she is old enough you will get to roam the wild west with them. Maybe in RDR 3 OR 4? Congrats and best of luck with the new one!

Same here man, I am not moving off the sofa until Monday, in which case I may or may not have a bad case of the flu! I see a lot of takeout in my future that weekend! But seriously, yeah I will be grabbing it at midnight and since I live a 5 minute drive from a Gamestop myself, it won't be long until I am home and playing.

So, I am pretty much planning on loading this up and playing until I can't stay awake. How about you?

Never played Friday the 13th, but I'm hearing a lot about it lately and I think I'll try it sometime. My wife and I pretend to argue a lot, she'll say "go here," I'll say "no I'm going here"... We're both laughing the whole time of course but it's pretty funny. Makes it more enjoyable when the person sitting beside you is actually watching you play and enjoying it too.

Awesome man, I'd so snag one of those if i saw one at a garage sale or something. Love retro gaming. Simple, fun, and no updates or internet connection needed lol

I have been gaming since the Intellivision/Atari era, (I still have a functioning Intelliivision), and I still get people calling me 'weird' and 'creepy' because I play online games. I try and explain to these people that it's not all 13 and 14 yr olds playing these games, and that I can NOT control how old people are in the game session. Even had people go as far as to say 'grow up' when I tell them. My wife was never a gamer at all, and although she won't pick up a controller, she loves to sit and watch me play games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil and what not. She helps me figure out puzzles and gets really into it. I recently played RDR story line once again, this time with her watching every cut scene, etc., and she loved the story line. She even said "Whoa, it's like you're actually in a movie in a way". She wanted to know what happened next all the time. Now she's stoked to watch me play RDR2. The point is, once someone actually is exposed to a descent game like RDR or Resident Evil 7, there's a good chance they'll become more involved and interested. I will always be a gamer no matter hold I am, or how old my consoles are!

I am not 100% sure about GTAV, as I didn't play it all that much. I remember doing the hideouts, but don't remember if they were on a schedule. However, I think the idea of gangs not always being at the same structure as you stated would definitely be cool. Like maybe you have to go search for them, as you wouldn't know exactly where they were at that time.

So many cool ideas here. Having the difficulty level of hideouts based on your skill level would be super cool. And I love the surrendering thing. Maybe you could trade the person you captured for a few weapons or something. I would like a fair playing field when it comes to player vs NPC gang member. Last night while clearing out Warthington Ranch I shot someone 3 times in the back and twice in the head with a bolt action rifle before they died, and I was right up close. 10 seconds later someone kills me in one shot with an Evans Repeater lol Then when the final 3 dudes came with the fire bottles, I was on my horse doing mach 1, and they couldn't miss me even though my horse was running full speed and zig zagging. It's like I had Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Joe Montana throwing fire bottles at me. I think the fact that the same people are in the same spots every time is boring. Having them spawn or be in different spots would make it a lot more challenging and fun. A lot of people can clear Pike's Basin in less than 7 mins because we all know where all the gang members are before we even enter. I'm not complaining that it's too difficult, I'm saying if you can kill me with one shot of a weak rifle, I should be able to kill you with the same force.

ROFL you're probably right! But by then, RDR4 or 5 will be out, and I will have a whole bunch of family members to roll with!

I so agree with this! With the exception of seeing my daughter's face light up on Christmas morning, I am over Christmas. She's 16 now, and all she ever really wants is gift cards anyhow. But was fun when she was a kid. And this year, she's getting RDR2 for Xmas! (about 8 weeks early!) I think the 7 weeks of Christmas music everywhere you go really ruins it for me.

I agree 100% about the skinning. Skipping the animation would be great. Hunting was way too easy in RDR. Killing 7 bears, 12 deer, 14 wolves, THEN heading off to sell them is also super unrealistic. Only being able to kill one bear and then have to bring it back to camp seems more of a challenge and more realistic.

I am really looking forward to clearing out new gang hideouts, assuming this will be an option for online play again. What do you feel they need to improve on if this is going to be a feature? Just a thought, but I am hoping they make the gang hideouts a little more realistic, in terms of how many shots it actually takes to bring a man down, and how they dispense the experience points.

I will be playing the story line first. However, if there is no delay for the online play, I may be tempted to jump on out of curiosity for a little while even if the story line isn't completed. If there IS a delay, which I think there might be, my goal will be to finish the story line before online is launched. But basically, I will finish the story line before jumping really deep into the online world. I'm not worried about people being way higher levels online by the time I get there. I will catch up, and besides, a higher level doesn't mean they're more skilled at the game.

I as well will be letting the story line introduce me to the map. I mean, if there is an opportunity in the story line to kind of roam around and stuff, which I am sure there will be, I might wander off and explore, but for the most part I will just play the story line and check everything out slowly.

For me, 1. Getting to know the map - I think that just wandering around and exploring new land and getting to know the map will be fun and interesting. 2. Hunting - I have a feeling the hunting will be a lot more realistic and challenging, which will make it a lot more fun. 3. All the improvements in game play - obviously the graphics will be amazing, but improvements like better horses that don't run away, or up the wall of a cliff, and assuming there are gang hideouts to clear like in RDR, having new ones to do will be a lot of fun.
