I was at the butcher in Rhodes and noticed I could see through the windows of the Bank of Rhodes. I wasn't sure if this was usual or not so tried the door and went Inside. There's a door on the right into the back area and in there are several desks, all empty, but there was also a set of jail-cell keys which I picked up. They didn't appear in my inventory. There's also a door sized safe which I dynamited to no effect. I stupidly reloaded into another server so I could photograph the keys but the windows were dark and the door locked, so I have no evidence this happened but if you're in Rhodes keep your eyes peeled for it. A glitch and a clue to a later update?

Hopefully the new anti-griefing methods will go some way towards making it more fun for non-griefers, VampireKrush. I hope so because I never bother storing pelts or carcasses on my horse cos why bother unless you're running straight to the butcher, and even then you risk losing it.

Hi ZombieFeet. From England too, Norfolk at the mo but Coventry originally. And also old from the Spectrum 48 days. My mate Paddy has a 64 and we'd buy the magazines for the games, he'd read out the basic game code and I'd type it in. After 6 hours or so we'd have a game that didn't work :D

I think if you stand, wave, drink at enough people a like-minded person will show up, Kormath. I'm defo gonna try it next time I'm having a real drink at home. It's great fun ain't it LinXX. I'm going to try it in that same bar, the one that does haircuts. I wonder if you drink too much in-game it'll give you some bad-decision haircut options?

I've not done it since posting and asking this. I wave in real life and it seems to work online too...most of the time ;)

I'd not played much the last three days, but jumped in solo again last night. A meat-space mate popped over my house so we had a brandy and then another bottle. I wasn't really playing, just mooching and my game-play reflected this. I was in a saloon, sipping beers and whiskys, wandering about and waving to the NPCs. A real life person showed up. waved, had a beer. Then another. We all got hair-cuts and drank more whisky and before too long there were a couple of posses, all of us getting drunk and getting along. For fun we tried out the posse feud thing which was a laugh, everyone opting for fists and having a good old brawl. Every now and then I'd respawn away from my drink so would rush back into town, sometimes forgetting and blasting my sawn-off cos I was drunk in real life and it was a case of shoot first, open eyes later. More brandy in real life. More drinks at the saloon. It seemed like the entire server was in this bar just having a mooch. Are these all actual people, asked my mate Those updates appeared in the midst of all this but I was too 'tipsy' to notice any change. Good fun. So, woke up with a real, undigital hangover, loaded up the PS, cantered to a saloon, had more drinks and stood in the road, waving, drinking, and it happened again. People showed up, waved, drank, acted odd and good, punched a couple of pedestrians and galloped away. Good fun. I'm still there, I think. Rhodes? Dunno. Need tea and an aspirin.

Cokeyskunk, even my horse is eyeing up that food. :D

I think I rehunt some cheeky chancers to try out another ability loadout. Pew pew but still I get dead in the head. Horseman 3 tiers. Fashion, upper tier. Eyes. Full of tiers.

Online mysteries and other strange sights
MaryW replied to Redstaski's topic in RDR2 - TeamUp (PS4)'s Our Forum
Once you've found the seven or so futuristic rock carvings you get access to his house and also a resolution to some those questions that might have niggled you about this fella, Francis Sinclair. -
I did wonder if black players got targeted more or differently and it's sad to learn that you do. My Jamaican mate said recently he's gonna have to get a PS4 so we can mosey around together (cos every time he comes round I'm on RDO and it blows him away) and I asked him if he reckons online is full of racism and he said, it will be. He said this because when started turning up at my new house a number of the neighbours instantly pegged him as a drug dealer and caused us both a bit of bother until they learned he was a regular, good bloke, just black with a Jamaican accent. They even tried to get me evicted cos I have black friends. This is in the UK. I'm male but play online with a female character, cos why not!, and I've noticed when I get griefed and I can hear their chat the language is usually misogynistic and quite violent against women. I think it would be extremely difficult to solve. The band The Specials (from my old home town Coventry, a rascist hell hole in the late 70s early 80s) tried to solve it by forming a multi-racial band, so posse up Some days you just wanna go solo though. And R* have assured us some anti-griefing methods are in the works that may help.

I think some people are hoping this Friday but why they think that, I don't know. So I'm gonna wake up Friday with a smidge of hope too. If they make online as rich, vibrant, surprising and occasionally wierd as it was in storymode then I'll defo be buying gold by the ton.

Just Curious; What Level Are You & How Long Have You Been Playing?
MaryW replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
I'm currently 53 or 54 and started day 1. Luckily I recently watched a YouTube which told me to wait for the timer to go down on stranger missions cos it ups the XP. I'd been doing them as quickly as I could prior to that, thinking it would go in my favour. -

It's the childhood home of the time-traveller, Francis Sinclair, from the Geology for Beginners stranger mission in story-mode. I knew he was a bit odd! -
Kean-1, I think you nailed it. That's basically how I go about it, except I'll very occasionally follow when they run, especially if they come across as vicious.
-
I usually wait for them to approach me after I first kill them but if they do come back rootin', tootin' n shootin' then yeah, I'll chase them down (if the fancy takes me) until they go. I personally think it is griefing. I might modify my behaviour and always just wait for them to come to me in future. But some days after several stranger missions I think, what the hell, let's have 'em!
-
I never, ever, ever shoot random players for no reason but if I'm getting on with my ranking grind and someone takes a potshot at me I will, if the fancy takes me, go after them and repeatedly kill them until they spawn in another server. I've only done this several times to break up the monotony of stranger missions but I always wonder, does this make me a griefer?
-
Hehe, yeah, no clues, Cory. And I agree, it has to be an Easter egg, Kean. There's scrape marks on the ground. Those other boat glitches are inexplicable and don't blend in. They gotta have some plans for airborne though, that hot-air balloon mission was insane. Might pop in on Marko Dragic, that mad professor from story mode and see if he can remote me up some airborne missiles. Heeee! Whatever they do it's gonna be fun. Will there be a Friday update? Hmmmm, I hope so but well, I can wait, level up in the meantime. Save up for a winged horse, perhaps. Hope not, lol.

Just changed my settings too. And it's Mary W rather than MaryW, sorry.
-
He later clarified that it was from RDR (which I haven't played but might buy a PS3 cos they're great and cheap). Haaa, those ghost boats. I was crossing a river and to my right was one up in the air. It's alright Polly, my horse, it's just more modernity. God-damn progress! :D

Hi Mackthedog. I'm not 100% sure but I think you may have to activate the dead-eye ability card. Press options in-game and you'll see the abilities tag there.
-
Hi Mark, PSN is MaryW and in-game name is Mary Doubleyou. I'm fifty, so not a screaming kid and have a mic. Also I'm a UK male despite my RDR2 persona. My discord name is also MaryW or #5249
-
Hi again. Recently I've been seeing lots of ships in weird places, sometimes sticking straight up out of the ground, but last night I came across this in New Austin. My mate assures me it's not a glitch but left over from a mission but I don't remember seeing any flying contraptions. What do you think?
-
I don't mind the Beatles, but maaan, are they overrated!
-
Hiya Gabriel, sounds perfect. I've been solo mission grinding (and letting the timers go down) up to level 50, which is also my age. If you're on PS4 then feel free to add me. I'm MaryW or Mary Doubleyou in game. I also have a mic!

Hi Padalex. There's so much to explore in storymode isn't there? And those Night Folk and other NPCs made the world rich and alive. I'm tempted to replay it at a much slower pace myself. Online is fun enough (for a beta) but after a while the grind becomes real. I've played it every day (almost!) since it came online and am only at level 40something and miss the richness of the story version. And those PvP sessions can be really tough. I'm average at them so don't get the XP to make them all that worthwhile but shall up my game Anyway, Padalex, hi, and happy new year.
