Just a heads up. Just recently I've started coming across more and more higher level players that are toting around explosive ammo. This ammo can 1 shot you and your horse frem nearly any range and hit any part of your body to do it. I recently purchased the pamphlet required to make this in case they try this on me but unless your level 91-92 you wont be able to buy it(also costs $1000...yeah). They can only carry 10 of each weapon type of this ammo which is 40 rounds but that's a lot of dying before it's a fair fight so be warned. Usually these are only used by either cowards who cant hold their own (especially if you are wrecking their whole crew in a 1v3 or. Sometimes used by a few players just having a laugh but I find it near impossible to deal with if you dont have the same ammo. Even with dead eye abilities cards maxed and fortified health it will knock you on your ass long enough for them to get the killshot in. Its OP AF.. with the only limiting factor is the amount you can carry. Still...just thought I'd share.

Bluewater Marsh as well as the shoreline west of Rhodes are both areas rich with the types of birds worth killing for the feathers. I.e. pelicans, loons, spoon bills, herons, cormorants, hawks and owls...all of which who's feathers range from $1.20 ea - $1.95 ea with ability to carry up to 10 at a time. Plus the shoreline also supports small and largemouth bass worth $2ea and Steelhead trout worth $2.50ea. All of which cannot be taken from you upon your death by griefers. These areas also have Muskrats and Rabbits. The marsh holds gators for big game meat and wild mint to fortify health with as well The shore has the occasional cougar and Ginseng/Tobacco. Plus a gang hideout that spawns. Great areas.

Go ahead and kill as many larger animals as you like simply for the meat value and other items but yes. carrying over 4 pelts will cause you to forfeit payment for the majority. Deer skins are always the one that bugs out if you have a wide variety of pelts on your horse. Stick to birds and small game (spoonbills, and muskrats/rabbits) and after 4 pelts of larger animals stop storing them on your horse.

I realize there is a posse recruitment section but this is sorta different than your standard posse recruitment post. I'm interested in finding out if any DAILY hardcore players of RDRO out there are interested in forming an official Van der Lind Gang? This will require each member to create an entirely new PSN account using a name of one of the members of the gang from the story. I'm currently level 100 and I'd be willing to restart from the ground up just to have this happen. We would need you to message 1st to reserve a character prior to making your account. Once your character has been chosen...you'll need to make a new PSN account and attempt to make you PSNID name as close to your character name as possible. Example. Arthur Morgan Arthur M0rgan ARTHUR M0RG0N ARTHUR M ARTHER MORGUN ETC. You will also need to make a strong effort at character creation to get the likeness as close to your character as possible. I'm sure SOMEONE may have tried this but hopefully not. This is my 1st attempt to form this posse so all characters are currently available. Anyone interested can message me here. I dont necessarily need to be Dutch just because I started this either but I'm willing to be if other spots are gone. (Arthur/Jon) lol I do a lot of hunting and I never fire the 1st shot but im good enough to defend myself against multiple players...in case your wondering. You DO NOT have to be a pro at the game to be a part of this, just a genuine love of the game enough to play daily(or damn close to it). It would be great if you were skilled at pvp so we can defend each other. I'm on Eastern time also. Thanks and again I apologize about posting here but I feel this would interest some players that may not even be looking for a posse so I felt it applied.

The Varmint Rilfe is not the BEST weapon for PVP
RED_DEADMAN replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
The extra amount of damage is so marginal that its irrelevant but I still prefer the springfield to be honest. For pvp, I rarely use a rifle unless they are unreachable with the Lancaster. Lancaster is the best gun in the game. IMO. The Litchfield looks better on paper but the stats don't translate to gameplay. If you haven't tried the Lancaster then id highly recommend. -

Your logic makes it even easier to argue my point but ill just let you think youre right. -

Not to mention it has rifle level range as well so id have already done the previous before you got close enough to raise your weapon. Not to be arrogant but the Varmie is extremely fast on the draw. -

No sir. Id be happy to demonstrate its effectiveness to you in a 1v1. My PSN is RED_DEADMAN. Especially no ability cards equipped. Ill have drawn and put a round into your head before you've even lifted a double action. -

I owned players all day with the varmit rifle and pretty much used it exclusively as my pvp go-to gun until around level 50. You are right that against players with upgraded cards like "slow and steady" and "never without one" it becomes pretty much useless but I can still MVP nearly every Most Wanted match using nothing but varmit. I use the Lancaster Repeater now that players across the board are higher levels now but you CANT say VR is no good for PVP. If your not using slow and steady ill own you everytime. -
This happens to me also but with all horses ive not been using for w while. I guess the stables don't feed your horses even though they charge to money every 15 minutes for horse care. BS

Griefing: Wasn't thinking about different methods.
RED_DEADMAN replied to YodaMan 3D's topic in Red Dead Online
Actually...I cant even argue that ....lol -
Separate servers would ruin the game. IMO. Just remove the minimap (dots) so griefers cant track you down is all that needed. Hunting is supspensful when I see a pink dot nearby just because I don't know their intenstions. Sometimes the wave and ride on by, sometimes I fire a warning sh*t to let them know it'll go down if they try me and sometimes it a battle...getting attacked by someone when hauling a lot of valuable pelts happened.

All I can say is I am not a griefer, nor do I like griefers (except 1 buddy of mine). And I used to HATE getting grief from players, especially during a long hunting trip. NOW ...because I'm good, I don't worry about getting griefed anymore. I kill griefers and its rewarding to me. Point is...im having fun and enjoying the game while yall are still here on this forum just complaining about it. -
Is this the best RDR2 player right now?
RED_DEADMAN replied to The ViceCity's topic in Red Dead Online
Makes sense. It does take skill, but only when against other free aim players. I don't think it requires more skill than free aim, just that it requires skill when faces other with the same aim assist -

RED_DEADMAN replied to The ViceCity's topic in Red Dead Online
I agree. If there is no skill involved in auto aim then why is it that some go 30/2 in a match and others go 2/14? -
Sligshot for small game. or blowgun with tranq darts or poison
-
Id like to see a BOLO. The animation when you lasso NPC's would work great with a bolo. Catching the feet. LOL

YES!!!!

Why even play the online mode if you don't want to be interfered with? That why there is a story mode. I understand the frustration behind getting killed when minding your own business by some guy who is literally only online to find and kill others. But don't quit the damn game over it...just get better. It annoys me much less now that I'm pretty good at holding my own. I actually encourage folks to try me these days. The only thing you lose if your horse gets killed is 1 medium sized carcus/large pelt, 2 small carcus and some pelts. ive yet to meet a griefer that I haven't been able to chase right off the map and rage-quit. All I'm sayin is stand your ground. Don't quit the game...its too damn good -
I may have been there. Except I was the one ending up in a 1v3 situation. I died but I'd say my K/D ratio was 10/1. Fun times

Ive been working on this for sometime. Its it very near complete and I tried to be as accurate as possible. Just needed to get it posted before the holiday vacation. Current prices on all animal carcus, pelts and parts as of update 1.05 Please let me know if this is not showing up correctly. My original had links for every animal to the rockstar compendium and everything but its just too much for the upload I guess.
-
Weapon accuracy is also a factor. Just because your marker is set right between the eyes doesnt guaruntee that the bullet will hit its mark. There have been plenty of times when my perfectly aimed shot has hit the target in the throat and not granted the kill. Keeping my rifle clean seems to help but especially in the case of revolvers, they do not always hit exactly on the marker. Couple this with the ability cards that grant some headshot immunity for a single shot when wearing a hat and another that Grant's headshot immunity while dead eye is active. And others that greatly reduce incoming damage while sprinting or being in cover. distance also will reduce power much more for some weapons.

I like to grab my bolt action, my repeater, a revolver and pistol as a secondary (gives me 4 different ammo types to pull from) and I use Express ammo for each which gives you extra +5xp per kill. Then i get the law on me in valentine. Once you're wanted you can then climb up into the loft area of a small barn next to the sheep pins. There is plenty of cover but the real kicker is that lawmen will climb the ladder 1 by 1 to try and take you down. As they get to the top you can Execute them with your weapon of choice. +5 XP for the Kill +5xp for special ammo +10xp per execution +5xp more for eyes wide shut(not sure what the trigger is) You get at least +20xp per kill with maximum of +30xp per kill plus it's easy to survive and rack up your Wanted challenges while you're at it. Sometimes you can pop out from behind the walls and shoot a mounted lawmen as well. You're also racking up your execution challenges and weapon type and headshot challenges. You can even do melee executions as they climb up also. Quickest XP gain I've found. Even loot bodies also from safety. Just make sure you pay attention to any enemies close to the ladder location as sometimes they will wait to climb until you start shooting at lawmen out in the pins and grass and they'll bumrush you. One shotgun shot will end your rampage with the quickness. I've easily killed over 100 lawmen at a time with this method but you are NOT completely protected so use care when exposing yourself in the large window.

Try going to the general store in Valentine. You can hear the tunes through the paper thin walls from the safety of the store.
