  1. Agreed, along with a few other day 1 bugs that still haven't been adressed. For a beta there sure are little efforts shown to improve on basic persistent bugs since day 1. I have achieved my gold buckle for 1000 lvl1 horse bonds by now
  2. Or have a life and know what they are doing.... It is good that explosive ammo is very limited in rounds though. As for the animal fat it is only limited to 10 and used in a lot of items so there are quite a few restraints to using them. Although I am fully stocked on all ammo types I cannot recall ever having used explosive ammo on players. Fire and dynamite arrows give much nicer special effects
  3. It seems to work in real life for people, not sure if it would online though. If you show me how to do it I'll do the same In any case if you want to get better at shooting people, I suggest trying to go on the rooftop in Saint Denis or other spots (check the net) and start practicing headshots and other methods for killing. In the current state of the game it basically comes down to pressing the auto lock and flick the right stick quickly in the direction of the opponents head and shoot. About 75% of most encounters are who gets the first hit in anyway. I am very average in shooting, but still manage to kill quite a few people. It takes a bit of practice though.
  4. I don't play showdown modes but self defense wise (as in I am suddenly being attacked at short range in free roam) I run with Winning streak ability combined with double mausers (express on 1 / high velocity on the other). You might miss a few shots, but the amount of bullets along with the damage stacking due to WInning Streak ability, have saved me quite often. As far as the best repeater - I love the lancaster however haven't tried the litchfield in online as of yet. This is also on the to do list
  5. Nice read, hopefully we will see some of these ideas in the game at some point!
  6. Nice gesture of you! I tip my hat to you Sir!
  7. Remarkable that the Turkoman is still higher rated in the poll, If you look at the stats of both horses they basically tie counting all of them. Fox Trotter - Faster and more Stamina Turkoman - More health I assume most people ride the horse more compared to fighting on horse - logically the Trotter should be the choice. Naturally this is personal preference, but for PVP the Black Arabian would appear to be a better alternative due to handling/health compared to the Turkoman. That being said I haven't acquired the Turkoman yet and will most likely get it relatively soon as my 3rd horse. Perhaps I change my mind then.
  8. OP might state that the topic isn't about griefing, however free aim and private lobbies are basically 2 methods wanted by a majority of people only for that specific reason - To stop other people from being party poopers. I am all for these things, however I am also for some sort of measures against these party poopers in the public lobbies. It needs a change, griefers should be punished for just randomly opening fire on a player. My major annoyance with the RDO Beta is that I truly do not see improvements to basic faults still in the game (lvl1 bonding bug since day1, the fact that if you sell or craft a lot of things the server cannot cope / animals and npc corpses that disappear in front of your nose after just being shot, the stupid camp movement / major stranger mission startup delay and the list goes on. In stead they focus on nerfing economy and adding PVP mode(s). As Bropollo said the free roam content is really minimal, the gameworld is pretty empty and unless you really start roleplaying and e.g. start a barfight or other stuff like that, the game is at a point that there is not much incentive to keep playing with dedication. The camp is pretty useless, the clothing options get boring, why would you want to hijack a train if not for a bit of fun. As soon as a majority of players reach lvl 80+ there is really not much else to do besides getting more stuff you actually do not need. The beta should be there to fix things and I do not feel this is happening at all.
  9. I like the tension of online players as well. During missions the game sets other posse's as enemies and encourages this as well. I would not want a change in this. However (and this happened this morning to me), I was hunting in Saint Denis and there was just 1 player besides me in the city. I had hunted for an hour had a deer lassoed and brought it to the butcher. The other player was afk like just standing there (because I do try to be careful) so i checked and he was not moving. Proceeded to skin the deer when i got headshotted. By the time I get back to the butcher this guy had sold the deer. I shot him, then called for my horse. He came back shot me as I was approaching my horse, and when i respawned he had sold all other carcasses and was inside the general store before leaving the server. You might call this fun or so, but being able to do this without getting any penalty whatsoever for me is a no-go and needs to be addressed. This is for me real griefing and not a let's test our skills and see who is better in a wild west game. For the rest I agree with OP, however I think Rockstar needs to deal with the day 1 issues first (lvl1 bonding horse and many other things). Furthermore they need to add stuff to do and not focus on different kind of lobbies first. PVP wise there is plenty to do already, it is time more grinding is added to acquire things and especially posse related grinding. What is the point of levelling after lvl 100 which quite a few players have reached - at a certain point people also have the essential kit they want to run with along with playerspecific extra's so they start saving up for when new content is added or start buying non essential stuff. The game indeed needs PVE related content badly.
  10. I have had several times being in a posse (not leader) that there would be a delay of 1 to 2 minutes before starting. As a Posse leader I had shorter delays but also several mission starting after 30 seconds or so. It is a combination of Rockstar servers and several people's connection (distance) to these servers I believe. I am sure Rockstar is aware and we can only hope this will improve!
  11. Of course you are correct, but the "griefer" or "attacker" is not going after Online players to get xp. If you shoot 3 birds out of the sky and pluck them and bring them to the butcher you will make XP faster along with money compared to the fighting with other online players. You waste time, bullets, health, risk of costs for your horse etcetera. Again I wouldn't mind it giving no xp, however I think there should be other factors (e.g. honor playing a bigger role in game such as prices in store and visibility on the map). People want to have a fight to test skills / have a laugh shooting you in the back / want to troll you because they can. Not getting xp for it won't change it I am afraid.
  12. I am so hoping for this - as I had several situations where I wanted to switch fast , but essentially do not have the time due to spawning in direct PVP again. I usually run horseman as a damage booster, but when you respawn you are on foot and do not really have time to switch.
  13. In a situation that we operate in seperate lobbies this would not be a thing naturally. Unfortunately getting less xp shooting online players would not be something many people would care about as that is more an emotional matter as a strategic one. But if they would implement it , I would be all for it
  14. Will give this a shot tonight, as I kind of feel that you might be right.
  15. I would be interested in knowing this too, as I wasn't able to figure out a certain pattern here either.
  16. No real idea why - most likely because they do not want the "victim" base to diminish or some other silly excuse. Or because of "GIT GUD" argument. I think most of the PVP biased players just think the players wanting PVE only environments are "whining". SO basically you state that my statement is not very true, then start explaining the same thing I stated (that you can easily level up doing free roam without PVP and get the cards and other stuff up to par for doing PVP showdowns later on). I also stated that it is a grind to do this, but so is PVP showdowns. Furthermore I pointed out that I have only done 20 minutes of showdowns yet have all cards maxxed out. Efficient PVE xp and money grinding is the thing to do. Of the ability cards there are perhaps 3 or 4 of all of them that might be more PVE based cards and all other cards give you benefits in PVP as well, I don't really understand the point you are trying to make here. Doing damage with a lasso won't be useful in PVP showdowns, but in all honesty would you equip this card as a main ability in PVE??? I kind of get the feeling that you need to familiarise still with the abilities the cards provide as most are based on either Heals / damage output / incoming damage diminuation. All of them equally useful in PVP as in PVE. In essence it isn't the abilities that bothers people so much, it is the massive auto lock on. Regarding skill needed in RDO in PVP - naturally the aiming is made "noobish" or "easily accesible" to a broad range of players, however even in this you have more skilled players compared to others. It's also a strange kind of comparison - Battlefield compared to RD is completely different, I would rather compare RDO PVP with Uncharted multiplayer and I agree that RDO is very noobfriendly and personally I do not like the auto aim. But the more skillfull players will be better compared to the less skilled ones with the exact same tools provided to all players. I also kind of doubt that the friends you mention go 10 to 1 KDR on a bad day in pure infantry 1vs1 situations. People with those KDR's in Battlefield are either in planes or tanks or snipers. Either they are truly elite professionals or are just boasting. In battlefield people with average KDR's of 6 ( in infantry combat) are already highly skilled and most decent players have a KDR of 3 to 1.5. This is for console and especially for BFV, might be different on PC though. I have played most Battlefields myself for a lot of hours and am very average but a useful PTO player with a KDR of perhaps 1.3 and I generally know what the top scoreboard players did ( I tend to be quite high in score due to Playing objectives effectively not by being an awesome killer).
  17. In all honesty i have done like 20 minutes of pvp showdowns and am quite high level with all cards upgraded, it is a grind but PVE players have the same chance as PVP players to get the cards maxxed and be as prepared as you can get for pvp in free roam. I honestly can understand that people want pve lobbies and personally any mission related content should be rewarded less due to the fact you have less risk in PVE compared to the current situation. The entire pvp player battlefield thing is just silly as most games on console have some sort of auto aim (be it a lot more in RDO) and lots of other "noobish" things as well. I stated this before on this forum - everyone has the same abilities and possibilities to acquire weaponry and xp and skillsets. nother discussion is of course the griefing which also has been discussed over and over and in the end we will have to see what Rockstar does. Pure PVE environment will very likely come soon as loads of requests have reached Rockstar about this. Free aim lobbies will most likely hit the game as well, making griefing a bit less likely as well. At the moment it is just wait and see what the game will evolve to, very likely the pvp and pve crowds will be seperated to please most people.
  18. Yes, I also believe it is posse related - or rather the fact that the servers have issues with a certain posse memeber's connection. I usually do not have issues when I am in a posse with all people from the same nation (similar pings etcetera), but as soon as the posse is varied regionally this tends to happen, no start or massive delay in startng.
  19. Well the only solution to this is to communicate.
  20. I agree these missions are not well thought through. At the moment I still have the advantage most of the time that I have a faster and staminawise better horse compared to most players, so I occasionally get the mission done. The player targetted should get a big reward if actually engaging (shooting the people targetting him) otherwise they just run or jump server. Also an option to skip this should be implemented as I can understand that most people will not want to disturb others as this causes the backlash of fighting eachother over and over or at least hinders the targetted player in his online routine. It is especially bad when the players horse is fully packed. The reward to do this for the attackers is also too low for all the hassle and backlash. Whenever I am targetted I try to get to a fortress like position and wait it out and try to snipe my attackers.
  21. No offense take at all and I understand your reasoning. However the game creators have made it pretty clear in the stranger missions that they want online rivalries as whenever the stranger mission starts, you got notified that a rival posse has started a mission and if you encounter another posse whilst doing a mission they are directly show as red (enemy). Whether other players act on it is a different matter, however the game sets these parameters. I tend to leave other players alone, however when I am in a posse and other posse members attack I join in. Also quite frequently I get shot by people doing the stranger mission, simply because I show up as a red dot on their radar. I hate the griefing like everyone else, however this is as Rockstar intended these missions to work so I cannot consider this griefing. There is a goal for player A and the game tries to get player B to hinder player A in achieving such goal. Entirely different to me compared to the fact you are skinning an animal and a train with a posse of 4 drives by and shoot you during the animation or you get shot in the back when riding through Saint Denis. I do not mind if people want private servers at all, but I stick with the opinion that Rockstar has set it so as to encourage rivalry between online players in the missions.
  22. Player since day 2 : Game time about 8 days ingame due to holiday break and addiction level too high :D, cannot play as much now as work started but tend to get 1 to 3 hours a day in. Level 110 if I was xp grinding I would have hit level 200 by now. 75% of the time played was grinding Saint Denis hunting grounds and acquiring in game money. Did about 8 levels rooftop shooting in Saint Denis to grind xp and practice a bit of hipfire and general shooting with several guns. The other 20 % mainly running stranger missions with posses. All ability cards done, Largest tent and fast travel point in camp along with luxury look (bought these with gold from store). Owning the Chestnut arabian / Grey white fox trotter with beaver saddle / black Arabian with panther saddle Gunwise i own the mausers / sawed offs / basic revolvers. Pump shotty / rolling block / bolt action / varmint / carbine and lancaster and bow. The grind continues to get all pamphlets - halfway with the expensive ones out of the way. After that the golden Turkoman and getting all the guns in the game. In between I buy some clothing from time to time, but that is a point I am no caring too much about right now.
  23. In all honesty , I would like this if i wanted to fish or hunt. Doing Stranger missions however without having potential online player threats completely defies the purpose as anyone can deal with the NPC's singlehandedly. I do not consider it griefing when online players attack us doing stranger missions. The unfortunate thing however is that the shoting continues after and really noone stops even when I address them in the lobby by mic that it is enough now.
  24. I agree, as long as we actually get a feeling they are doing something. They now had over a month of datagathering and only changed minor issues regarding the economy basically. The floating boats in the sky / the level 1 horse / ghost areas on servers from time to time (nothing respawning) / the endless crafting (serverbased issue) I consider to be things that should have been tackled already. Also the stranger missions not starting or starting with a delay of a minute or more is something that should have been fixed. PVP wise I heard about bad spawning but can't really discuss this as I shun PVP because I don't want to git gud Having written this, Rockstar really should start rolling out something posse related with actual decent rewards. Yesterday I rode with a 4 person posse for about 6 hours doing stranger mission after stranger mission. In the end I might have made 1.5 gold bars and 1 level xp and perhaps 250 to 300 usd. It is really bad as besides the increase in gold I can get the xp and money within 2 hours of play or even less by hunting. It is really imbalanced and either should be adressed or more rewarding posse related content should be coming soon.
  25. As stated before on the forum - the honour system could be used alongside with situational awareness on the map. This would link in with the bounty story you mentioned. Dishonourable players will be more easily seen on the map and indeed a small bounty depending on the amount of dishonour should be a thing to consider. I would say a maximum of 5 USD for max dishonour and when you get killed the bounty disappears until you raise attention negatively again or have a timer of 30 minutes before the bounty applies again. This is difficult however as I see potential boosting and such or loopholes in abusing this. I assume that that is the reason why Rockstar has not yet implemented such a thing.
