  1. Congratulations on the retirement, It is honestly what I am striving for. I'm and older dude who enjoys the subject of game theory, monetization, and have an analyst and Project Management background. So I’m admittedly **** retentive/detailed orientated and think about this stuff too much. My short answer (which isn't even that short)... They're most likely working on GTA6 VR for PS5 is probably the best answer Griefers really don't bother me too much. Since the update blue dots really mind their own and most red dots are either hiding from the bounty hunters, fighting their posse or busy selling stuff in town. I haven't been shot in days. It's either feud or Parley afterward anyway. Last few years all AAA games to me seem to be put the game out and build onto as you go, sort everything is in beta. I think if it isn't successful they just limit future expenditures and "milk what they can out of it" for as long as you can. They all seem to give "free stuff", it's sort like "In the casino, the cardinal rule is to keep them playing and to keep them coming back." It's perceived value since it really has no value except what the user puts on it. I don't think they will shut this down for a while as R*/take two really doesn't have allot in the pipeline right now, and I see the foundation for huge updates. Also as above they'll just let the core players play for as long as they're is interest. Amarillo has that plaque and the prison island is out their with a ton of ships I do think the younger crowd will get bored and move onto the next big thing. RDR2 also seems to be pretty popular worldwide even though China isn't really an open market yet. If they could open the China market it's a whole new ballgame.
  2. Yeah this game has a full range of posse options, and I do better with the casual crowd than the hardcore gamers. I was dropping in and out of session posses but there is something about the allure of being on my own, probably the whole old west theme that I find alluring. Yeah the gold bar system in comparison is closer to fortnite than PUBG, I could still drop a few bucks and shortcut the items but that doesn't get me to I think lvl 80 with the exploding slugs and 92 with the exploding arrows, so their no shortcut to that. I'll admit I'm just a little bitter as the last few games I played (primarily mobile) where super p2w or just heavy grinding. Heavy grinding always seems to be the way to go. I'm an older guy who remembers when GTA3 came out, vice City was my favorite, I bought all up to GTA 4 and skipped 5 because I was bored with the genre so my history is their games without add ons. So I'll admit I'm a skeptic. Bugs are my biggest pet peeve but R* has by far the best support I've seen. The GAAS model seems to be the new craze and if it stays that way I'm good Back to the original question I don't know if I'm their target customer, older dude with kids, some time and disposable income but I love the online portion of the game. It has a little bit of everything and I like the genre. I would like to see it grow and I don't cheat, or grief and not a get to lvl 200+ and move on. The last update was not really a "nerfdate" and burn it down situation. They just need to make some bug fixes and rethink some aspects Yeah I'm sorry I posted long response...so #4
  3. I would classify myself as #4. PVP is basically to break up the monotony of hunting/fishing, make a few $ quickly, and see how good or bad I am against peers, and nothing like the thrill of victory (or agony of defeat) First couple of months I just farmed...hunted/fish for $'s. Now depends on mood. As far as posse I don't want to join one yet. I was leader/officer at other games for 4+ years and it is time consuming and people management. I'm not anti social, Just want to see if I can make it on my own, play at my own pace and bail if they don't fix the bugs or start making it a P2W cash grab with super OP guns and stuff.
  4. IDK. Just as I was signing off last night my female character for the first time went from underweight to average. I haven't looked at it since. I've been hoping to get her to average because the male characters have the weight advantage but it kinda freaked me out. All I really eat is meat. Costs nothing, except the ammo and fills all the cores. Edit. Yeah now I checked it this morning and my female character says overweight for first time since beta launch. Doesn't look any different really though. Who knows bug, some kinda R* test, or change in calculation.
  5. IDK if this has ever been asked b4, and search comes up blank. It's kinda of dunb question, curiosity thing. First time I stole a canoe and drove all the way around the Manor for good hour and into St. Dennis shipping lanes. Boat eventually sank but I got onto the islands , some of the ships, nothing really on them except fishing and a green iguana on one island. Second time I stole a row boat and got almost all the way to the island, same thing, boat sank. Guessing it's locked and boat sinking just about all I will get if I keep trying?
  6. Just to clarify Actually I still lose them on disconnect, death and if I join a showdown free room. Only time I seem to keep them is if someone kills me while on a daily mission. I "lost a full load" last night on a crash as it seems if I hit max meat and just keep piling skins it crashes out on me B4 the update I couldn't sell most 3* and some 2*. That cost me boat load of $'s and time. It was frustrating
  7. Great article and playing the game, reading this forum the last couple of days these are my thoughts on this subject and the new update… I understand completely that a business is in the business of making money, and these games cost money so I try to look at it from a fair and balanced perspective.. Positive note they fixed my horse losing skin issues and that’s a big plus but My RDO recent gripes… New bounty system. Someone shoots at me I shouldn't get a bounty for them missing or me getting revenge. It's only a couple $’s but it's just a dumb system. You can’t see other players until they’re already on top of you or unless they’ve gone purple/red. How does this help with griefing and if... Someone shoots me in the back as I pull into a butcher, why should I lose the horse skins? Demotivating and dumb system. Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Update really didn’t fix much... I still crash often, stranger missions tap out (as others have noted) and last night my horse had a black core (which seemed to be a display issue). Sometimes that’s demotivating. My satchel went from 20 to 10 on Big game meat. That's a major Nerf if it wasn't a bug. I burn through Dead Eye and seem to need more Potions and Revives than B4. I’ve been down that whole POT and REV avenue and it’s getting played... My guns seem to get dirty pretty quick. Sometimes I gotta clean my guns multiple times in a row. Maybe a bug or a monetization scheme which leads me to ... My long term issues (game related, not mentally) What am I building for or why should I spend money, update really didn't add anything.. I got tons of clothes now and the new ones are kinda lame. I'm not going to wear bright neon colors on a battlefield I've got a full deck of tier 3 passives and $900 is too much for them. Some seem to do nothing. Maybe 1 or 2 more I would like to build but too much grind. I've got almost every type of gun and have already got favorites… Rare shotgun was a waste, it's powerful but other shotguns are better I've got every other repeater and don't use them, I prefer rifles and shotguns. it's not like they can introduce a grenade launcher or chain gun like in GTO. If they do it’s pretty messed up and “sell out” GTAO has a wider range of stuff they can sell Bottom line is that the economy is still out of whack and there is just too many bugs. As far as solutions I don't really have allot of suggestions for R* for them but… Introduce a wild west no holds barred or deathmatch free roam. Let griefers just Duke it out away from hunters/gatherers. Expand the range on blue dots. They need to introduce reasons for me to consider spending real $. Nothing worth it and economy is just out of whack. Content is key. Bounty system needs to be reworked. My biggest issue is the whole monetization schemes of P2P and P2P. I give them real $ and I start winning is just getting played. I just left a game because it was a never ending cash grab and left the one b4 that for same reason. Maybe I'm just tired of that model. Would I pay a subscription for exclusive content, maybe? Right now given the beta state $9.99 for 25 bricks doesn't do nothing for me. Sorry for long post, snow day
  8. Yeah I will agree. In fairness article looks like it was written by someone who has a short on the stock. If i'm not mistaken they neglected to mention that RDO has generated more revenue at this point in the development cycle than GTAO. It's early in product life and probably have lots of plans for enhancements and new stuff to come so it's more of a patience and provide feedback sort of stage.
  9. Yeah I'm getting paid too for all the pelts now, b4 update I was losing about all the 2 and 3*. Plus when I got griefed I would lose some. Last night I got griefed by a dude doing the train mission and I didn't lose nothing So that's a big post update plus for me Plus for some reason I was able to buy a large saddle bag for first time last night. Never had that option b4. Haven't tried it yet. Yeah I played that marvel hereos Omega b4 this for the few months it was on PS 4 (and some PC) and that was the biggest boondoggle of all time. Luckily I didn't give them any money. My last 4 years have been mobile games with loot boxes. Saw dudes spend $1000's and all these monitized games follow the same path.... you give them time/money and something new comes along that nerfs or "competitive balance adjusts" what you have now and you wind up buying the new stuff or moving on to something else. It's all sunk costs. Take two stock is at 52 week low and article out today says they still make 5x as much on GTA as compared to RDR2 online. I do expect them to try to extract more time and or money in the near future. It's the nature of the monetized gaming business today. I'm just going to grind, maybe give them a few $ to support game, until I get bored. Guess my point is the whole sunk cost thing, whether it's time and/or money the house always wins
  10. @Moosh89. Just wanted to say Thank you. Yeah purple is the path to the dark side. Takes me a while but I figure it out and Yes I will agree the new outfits look circa 1999. The new cold weather outfit for my Cowgirl character is like $511 and partially neon green. They can keep it and allot of this other stuff until I have nothing else I can buy. I do like the changes to the free rooms. Thanks to those who answered my questions and to whoever runs this forum. I appreciate it. Sorry to bother you all but not a fan of reddit, discord and the other mediums. I'll go back to sending feedback to R* now
  11. Thank you. Yeah, I figured it out. I'm a little slow sometimes. You pay to collect, seems it goes down (the bounty)if you wait it out
  12. Ok I'll ask some questions. I guess blue is an honest player and dark red is the serious griefer? What the heck is purple. Posse leader. IDK blue dudes where following me around like flies on honey,(ie. Baiting me) so I killed one 4 times, because he aimed pistols at me and turned red, and shot another in the head just because he was annoying me. The fued button didn't work either time. Now I got a bounty of $25 in tumbleweed and $3 in amirrillo (or however you spell it) edit... never mind, you got to pay the bounty to collect your goods And I'm writing R*. Not liking the barren wasteland and this following me around stuff. Now they just trying to bate you into a fight.
  13. Yeah I chose a female cowgirl too (because it annoyed my kid and this and all games are weenie fests) and I sometimes wonder same. I do find the whole griefers mentality pretty childish. I do however ever like to hunt down griefers furiously. You die once you lose a couple of horse skins about it. You keep any fish, meat, and small skins so I'm game. 90% of the time now they either grief and run or I wind up killing them enough they parley away. Usually the griefers ain't nothing but bunch of whimpy children I do try to get them in hand to hand combat as getting their butt kicked by a girl seems to get on their nerves, plus she has this slap punch which is funny as heck
  14. Their is a passive ability that ignores the first headshot if you're wearing a hat. I didn't upgrade it, chose others instead and just don't want to spend cash till after update, so don't know if you get 3 on a tier 3 passive. although their been a couple of guys I've hit the head continuously and nothing happens (until they shoot me dead) I'm pretty sure, or least come to the conclusion, the semi invisible players I've been seeing are peeps using the passive glitch or not just people respawning after grief but have something to do with bugs/server latency or something. When people move they sometimes go invisible on me, their blip is in the wrong place and have a list of bugs that I've reported to R*. I just think game is buggy as they do work behind the scenes . Yesterday I could hit a man in the head with an express loads out of the Springfield rifle point blank and nothing would happen. Animals been scarce for me too as others have reported
  15. My 2 cents.. yeah definitely need a shotgun. All guns for me are kind of buggy and believe me they're most likely going to Nerf some guns next update (Varmit and I think they already nerfed the Bolt with express loads) but.. I'm a fan of the repeating shotgun (probably because I bought it early) over the semi automatic or others because it has 6 shots, better damage and I believe range over the semi. Semi was a waste of RDO$ but has the 6 shots and just loads quicker but the stats are not as good as repeating. Slugs are kind of a waste of money but give you an extra 60 shots in a battle. Semi with slugs is good for precision but you lose damage (ie might need 2 shots instead of one) I use the repeating shotgun for 1 shot up close high damage, quick round close fighting. Works really well in hideout missions and it's kinda cool to watch the bodies blow apart. The other thing is you can use a shotgun as a Melee weapon in a fist fight. Used to use it to kill wolves but makes a mess out of skins. I too though am starting to kinda favor dual pistols in real close fighting because shotgun kind of slows you down, but 1 shot kills no headshot up close is when a shotgun is useful.
  16. And since I'm new to the forums. I don't grief anyone. And in a nutshell... ... although it has kinda dropped off for me I'm not afraid of a fight. I do avoid the cities where large posse's are and sometimes think that these knuckleheads just confuse you for an enemy in the heat of battle. What I can't stand is the griefer who hits you when spawning, fishing/skinning, leaving the butcher or any other time they run or fast travel away. It's so whimpy/ psycho boy to hit and run. 80% of the time I can see someone coming and can win a one on one or the individual griefer misses on the first shot. I have won a couple of battles against 2 or 3 man posses. You gonna grief someone as a posse than just start a hunt the leader mission is fine. I'm game (if I have the time and nothing better to do) I just feel it's the wild west but don't shoot a man in the back
  17. This was the first Second time I was actually attacked by one which is why I came to this forum. I was in the Post office and got hit in the head while opening a treasure map which was weird. Then she had the ability to lasso me while I was in the post office and pull me out. She wasn't so good because I broke Free and threw everything I had at her. Wound up killing all the bystanders. She hog tied me a second time and shot me but it didn't do nothing. The only time I died is when the Pinkertons came and shot me dead. I don't know it was actually funny because she was invisible (ie like in the store) EDIT> Ie. Now that I think about it about a week ago a posse ambushed me out in Tumbleweed and the one dude was invisible. He was like a lvl. 100+ player and his posse shot me to shreds. I was clearing a hideout and think they had an assassination out on me . Couldn't parley. So yeah actually second time
  18. Yeah thanks for the answer. I found the glitch/mod on the internet. I won't use it No point in cheating on a game, and it's not actually like RDO is pay 2 win (yet) Year from now I'll move on to something else Just wish people would fight fair and rockstar fix this stuff up.
  19. Hey I'm new to these forums but have been reading them for some time and been playing RDR2 and RDO since launch. I'm not super crazy but I am about a level 55 player, so I'm hooked. I do want to share a story which is part of question, (and why I registered). It sounds odd but it drives me nuts and have no one else to ask Last night I won Cold Dead hands and was immediately spawned near the St. Dennis post office. I went in and a semi invisible Cowgirl was able to punch me inside the PO. She ran outside and lasso'd me, pulled me out and hogtied me. I broke free and couldn't punch her, threw all my Melee weapons at her, couldn't shoot her, and basically got my butt kicked by the invisible woman. If anything it's kind of funny (although I lost all my winnings in the ensuing battle with the Pinkertons) but my question is does anyone else encounter these semi- transparent players? I am constantly confronted with them and I can't do nothing against them. I have sent numerous feedback to rockstar and compared to other games I've played they are really good at customer service, actually reading them and incorporating ideas. Nobody gives me an answer on Semi transparent players. They just say they will look into it. If anything I'm not a great player, but I can hold my own, some days I'm pretty good but then the players are semi invisible and I lose more points and can't do anything against them. PS. Horse/butcher...yes I constantly lose stuff off my horse and when I go to butcher I often can't sell skins that are on the horse and get cheated out of them like others have reported.
