  1. I have no idea, but I once almost got run over on a bridge because a train came within only a couple of minutes of a previous one. Might depend on the line... I was heading from Rhodes to Saint Denis.
  2. This is a good explanation. Took me ages to figure this stuff out myself. Some of the mechanics really should be explained better in-game.
  3. Weird. I've never once punched my horse in my countless hours of play. I guess my Arthur is just too much of an animal lover.
  4. Pretty big, as I understand it. As far as I know, nobody here has played it without the patch, so I have no idea what issues you might come across.
  5. You should be able to play, but you won't have the very large day-one patch without going online.
  6. I noticed in the clip that your horse's stamina core is depleted. It's blinking to call your attention to that. Running up and down mountains full speed with a dead buck on its back, and no wonder it's complaining to you. The game is not broken -- it is trying to tell you something.
  7. No idea why they removed Liar's Dice, but I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. So far as the unfair bounties go, well... things weren't necessarily so fair in the old West. If someone sees you shoot somebody, they might not necessarily know you had a good reason. Plenty of folks were and are still jailed unfairly, no? I know that doesn't necessarily justify the game mechanic, but thinking about it in those terms have really helped my personal enjoyment of the game. I stopped thinking "the game is unfair!", and started thinking "the law is unfair!" -- followed by "I'll make those suckers pay, dammit!"
  8. I'm on an X, and it's almost always rock solid. I notice a few dropped frames when running around certain streets in Saint Denis, but not enough to be annoying really. Maybe your machine is downloading game updates in the background or something?
  9. *raises hand* That weren't no dog!
  10. You can also focus on them and calm them. In real life, a horse kick can easily kill you.
  11. Chapter 1 feels pretty linear, so those who give up early don't really get a flavor of the game at all. The game opens up a little in chapter 2, but it REALLY opens up in chapter 3. I'm still in chapter 3, and I just keep stumbling upon things to find and do. I keep thinking I'm going to go do that story mission I've been putting off, only to find more reasons to put it off before I can get to it!
  12. I'm only 38% of the way through, so I can only give it a tentative score. That's actually many hours of my time, as I like to take things slowly. When I rate a game, I usually only consider how it makes me feel when I'm playing. If I'm fully sucked in, having a blast, forgetting my real life troubles, and thinking about it when I'm not playing, then it rates highly. Based on this, I have to give it a 10. I love playing it, and that's what matters. 10 doesn't mean it's technically perfect, it just means it has consumed me. There are long stretches of time where I almost just forget that I am actually playing a game. One hint of how much I love RDR2 is that I very rarely post to forums for any games -- and here I am.
  13. Sometimes it's very hard to tell if it's a random encounter or a small side-mission when you first see someone. I've been pleasantly surprised more than once.
  14. I'm with you. I don't get what people get from console flame-wars in general. People need to realize that the only reason their console is good is because the other console is competition, and competition spurs innovation. All us cowboys and cowgirls need to stick together!
  15. I've had some intermittent problems with horse speeds, though they usually clear up after a minute or two. The slowdown can happen even with cinematic camera, when I'm not doing anything but automatically following a road. Suddenly, the horse will greatly slow down, and stay slow for awhile (even with good stamina). It seems to happen more often at sharp turns and sudden inclines, but not always.
  16. Some hats can't be found in stores.
  17. Aha! Just found some info on this: https://twinfinite.net/2018/10/red-dead-redemption-2-stolen-hats-how-keep/
  18. Do every side-quest you can, as soon as you come across them. Many of them are tons of fun, and may even yield unique items.
  19. I gave a guy a beat-down, liked his hat, and stuck it on my head. So far so good. I've been wearing it for a little while. But when I went to camp to change outfits, I noticed that I couldn't select my new hat. There it was on my head, but the checked text was "No Hat." What's more, the hat itself was not on the list of hats I could choose. I checked the "Found Hats" and "Stolen Hats" lists, but there was nothing on either. I can safely back out of outfit mode and keep the hat, but I'm afraid if I choose another hat, the new one will be gone forever.
  20. I forgot to mention that there have been a couple of times when the app map showed me something that wasn't on the in-game map. One of those led to nice little Easter egg nod to RD1.
  21. Awww... that sucks!
  22. It does seem to use up a lot of battery, but that might be because my iPad's getting old.
  23. Just wondering who else is finding this useful. I use it on my iPad as my main map, and it's great! It's much easier to zoom, scroll, and set waypoints. Best of all, you can peek at it during cinematic camera view to make sure your horse isn't going off on some weird tangent, and to see how close you are to your objective. The interface for Arthur's journal is nice too.
  24. I've been looking at gun stats vs. prices, and there seems to be a big disconnect. For example, going by stats alone, the Carbine Repeater seems to be much better than either the Lancaster Repeater or the Litchfield Repeater. But the Carbine is also the cheapest of the three. Is there something else going on? Are the others more upgradeable or something? I'm not one to min-max or anything, but this did get me curious.
  25. Am I going crazy, or didn't I used to be able to store three outfits on my horse? It was two pre-made outfits and one custom. Now I can only store one plus the custom. Someone give me a reality check here.
