Barely Anyone Is Finishing Red Dead Redemption 2
Cliffs replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
How many of you completionists have played the game without looking at any guides or youtube videos? -
Exactly, I chuckle at all the rage quitting because of changes to a beta.
-
At the end of the day, this is still a beta game. I remember when beta games were for testing the game and associated online mechanics...seems now most of you want a ready to play AAA game.
-
I just finished my 1st playthrough and i played it as you are doing on your 3rd. I never rush through open world games and the beauty of RD2 helped me tame any desire to do so.

Barely Anyone Is Finishing Red Dead Redemption 2
Cliffs replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I just finished Epilogue 2 yesterday and now I am off to the blocked out New Austin. I don't play more than an hour or 2 at any time and just enjoyed all that can be done ingame. Not really impressed too much with online beta but after exploring the "new" map, I may give more time to online play. I couldn't tell you what level I am and could not care less as I don't play any games for the stats/standings "anymore". -
The other huge problem with official forums is the posters attacking the devs for not communicating on a daily basis.

What part of the story did you not like?
Cliffs replied to riptide87's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I just got to the epilogues and the one thing I wonder from reading the above posts is, what if we played the story missions and not anything on the side (within reason), would all of that material be available once you become John? I have the desire to go buy RDR for the XBox (have PS3 version but machine is out of commission) -
Great replies, thanks guys. I have decided to play this game as I would when watching a western movie about the bad guys of the wild west. How many times do you think Billy the Kid or John Wesley Hardin, maybe even Wyatt Earp, went fishing? Bad men in the wild west did bad things, therefore if the grievers want to pretend they are bad men, then i play with them as the good guy. That is the direction R should go in. have sides you can build your character out from. Want to be a sheriff, be a sheriff and act honorably and go get those bad guys. Over time and having performed some good deeds, your character moves up in rank. If you decide at some time to go bad, then do it. Same thing do bad things get XP and move on up in that vein of playing.

I have to ask, just how is this player interaction? It is more like player inaction. I think some of you are missing my point. What most of you keep describing as what you want for gameplay is like the solo side of the game. Online should be different than the solo gameplay IMO. Think about the NPCs in solo, most of them are ready to draw down on you if you stop or bump into them...in online, they are all friendly, so the only "bad" guys to look for in this western style game are other online players. To stem grieving R should have a workable bounty system. Online does not have one like in the solo game. There is no ingame punishment for slaughtering everybody.

That I find is the biggest problem in the game....you can kill as much as you want and there is NO penalty like this.

I'm going to assume Never assume...I still play the first game to this day. To each his own style of play i guess but i know I don't approach this online game the same as single player, why, because to me that is boring as i have done most of it in single player, why would i want to go online to play the same way? I am not a griever or troll and avoid them best i can but i also don't play much online because of same.

Knew that and thanks for the additional info for others.

Agree with the replies. I agree we should be able to have fun with friends and having private servers will take care of that...but open servers will never be as most of you want just due to the fact this is a shooting online game, not a hunting fishing and socializing online game.

I use this one https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback

Rockstar has a bug reporting forum, use it to be heard.

I keep reading all these posts from players who are ticked off with griefers or whatever you want to call them. These same complainers are saying they want to hunt and fish and be left alone. I actually expected the online part of this great game to be like most online games..player VERSUS player not AI. In the single player game i can hunt and fish until the sun sets in the East and never get shot at, so why would i want that same experience online? Posses (or gangs) would team up against other teams and take over camps and/or areas under others control. There would be epic fights for control of Valentine or St. Deinis, etc. Instead I keep reading that players want to ride around this huge map and do nothing of the sort. So without attacking me the OP, just what is it you expected from an online shooting game?

It's a beta, a reset should be part of that as we are TESTING the game for them.

Anybody that spends real money on anything beta is a fool parted from his money.

The Law/Bounty systems are SEVERELY FLAWED
Cliffs replied to Lucixir's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Love the game but what amuses me most about this very subject is the amount of "witnesses" there seems to be IF you attack somebody in the remotest parts of the map. I have been in places where I haven't seen anybody for hours and along comes a stranger who seems to not like me, i try to defuse, he draws, I kill him and BAM...a witness to the crime pops up...kill him, BAM two more pop up...say wat? -
Zombies ruin games for me.

What ONE thing do you think will help online the most?
Cliffs replied to madfretter's topic in Red Dead Online
Wouldn't this just be like offline play then? -

A bounty system that hits griefers real hard -
Been playing since day one preordered and I am now just starting chapter 3. There are a ton of things to do and not watching youtube vids or googling how tos, I find this game is like making my own western movie. I approach playing by looking at challenges and selecting one to complete before i take on any game mission, with a lot of searching, hunting and gathering in between.
-
This is where i agree completely. I know it's a beta and we are supposed to find errors and glitches and what not but i never get to stay alive or connected (lately) for more than 1/2 hour at a time.
-
There are no griefers/trolls? If all's you want to do is hunt and fish? If there is NO true bounty system? If you wave and say hello all the time? Wait a minute, this sounds like single player except the bounty system. Not saying i like the griefers/trolls but if we aren't fighting each other in game, what is online all about?
