Hey guys, I'm a really big horror fan and love the Halloween series.

Who saw or is going to see the new Halloween movie, are you excited? I'm probably going to either see it tonight, or tomorrow not sure. I really hope it shows elements from the original Halloween movie.

I was never a fan of horror until I started dating my boyfriend. He is a BIG TIME horror film fan. He loves a lot of the older ones and cult classics. He is going to see it. I have an appreciation for the original Halloween movies but I didn't care for the newer ones (I think there was 2?) so I likely will pass on this one.

I hear the new movie is really good, and yeah the best ones are 1 and 2 in my opinion, 3 never happened in my book lol, 4, 5 and 6 were decent, H20 was eh, Resurrection was the absolute worse one, and the newer ones that you are referring to is the Rob Zombie remakes.... the first Rob Zombie movie "Halloween" was exceptionally good, but the 2nd remake of Rob Zombies "Halloween 2" was really bad.

I am an avid horror movie fan, especially of the Halloween series.  I am going to see the new one next Friday.  I have heard  great things about the new one, and what excites me the most is that  Carpenter helped direct it, and Nick Castle who originally played The Shape, is coming back for some scenes as The Shape.  Also, this takes place as a sequel to the original in 1978.  The other movies don't exist in this movie, it's like it never happened. The original is my favorite, followed by 2 and then 4.  The rest are dead to me as The Shape just gets bigger and faster, and that's not what John Carpenter set out to create when he made the first 2 movies.  I find them boring and the whole 'Cult of Thorn' thing starting in part 5 was about the stupidest thing I have ever seen.  I think Rob Zombie butchered Halloween.  The first one would have been all right if it had have been a movie on it's own, and not called Halloween.  The whole mystery behind Michael Myers was that he hadn't spoken since he was 6.  Either way, I am excited to see The Shape again, and looking forward to him walking and stalking like the original.  Hope everyone enjoys it!

I saw the movie 2 days ago, and I loved it. It was a great movie, michael is bad ass in that movie, but there is a plot twist at the end of the movie where some people liked, and some people didn't.

I am a long time horror fan. I saw it opening Friday. Personally, I think its a solid reboot. I went in with real low expectations as I typically hate reboots and remakes.

A lot of homage. Cool dark camera shots like the first one and reminiscent of the chase scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Like so dark and gritty you could barely tell what was happening.

At times it walked the line of "cool nod or homage to the original series" and "quit trying to replicate and be your own".

I dont want to give away too much but I will say that I enjoyed it a lot.

I actually just got this in the mail yesterday.

Wow, that is super cool man!   The one thing I have always loved about Halloween is the score.  And oddly enough, if you ever get the chance to watch the original without any music, do it!!!  It is actually really spooky to watch with no music whatsoever.  I can't remember how I watched it without the music, I think it was on a dvd I once owned somewhere in the bonus features.  You could also watch it with John Carpenter and Debra Hill doing commentary throughout the entire movie which was also awesome.

I would need the classic music for sure, but the new movie was great and I really liked it.

The music is definitely a major part of the film.  I mean it's really creepy music.  I just meant watching it without the music makes it kind of like a different kind of spooky.   Now....if we could get a descent Halloween video game, I'd really be thrilled!

That really would change the entire vibe of it. I will have to check if any of my versions have that commentary track and remove the audio.

Did you guys see the interview with Carpenter where he says "that's how they get you. They record audio with Debra, myself, jamie, whoever. Then sell it to you again. That's how they get you"? He also said he didnt like his original. It was way too slow and he thought "what was I doing? There is jo action"

I did not see that interview, however I would like to.  I know I had one version with the commentary but the copy I have right now does not have it.  I did however find the audio from it on Youtube.  Here is the link to the audio of that version with the commentary.

You'll have to sync it up with the movie obviously, which after I listened to the first 5 mins a few mins ago, you basically just hit play at the same time.

I watched it. I wasn't exactly sober for it but I did remember most of it lol

I wasn't a fan of the ending. I did like how they made good ol' Mike seem more like a nutcase in this one though. I mean thinking back, his first experience with a knife and murder was killing his sister. He was f'd in the head big time so highlighting that does wonders for the story.

Ok, so I literally just walked out of this thing 45 mins ago, just got home.  Got tired of my wife making excuses to not go, so I went by myself.  And, I was the ONLY ONE in the theater! hahaha Was kinda cool actually!  I mean I've been to movies with like only 6 or 7 people in the theater before, but never by myself!  Sat in the back row dead smack in the middle.

So, now, the movie...I really really enjoyed it!  Now, being a fan of Michael Myers for about 35 years or so, I know how The Shape walks, and acts in every movie.  Obviously the original is the best, but I thought that the actor playing him was little too robotic.  He still did a great job though, better than most of the guys that played him. Was nice that he wasn't 7 ft tall and 300 lbs. I thought that the story line was very well written.  And it wasn't a typical cheeseball horror plot with dumb blondes, etc.  They focused on the cool kills and the story.  Was very impressed. Now I have to act surprised when my wife finally gets around to saying we should go lmao I used the change jar to pay so no traceability. Shhhhhh lol 😆
