Aimesleje
Spoiler I feel like after chapter 6 the entire game lost all its meaning. Arthur is dead, everything you did as him was wiped away. All of the HOURS of hunting perfect pelts to customize my camp -- wasted. All of the legendary animals I hunted -- pointless. All of the side quests I didn't finish -- gone. It made the already limited customization and RPG elements of the game completely pointless! I felt cheated out of a good 60+ hours of gameplay. Everything lead up to a bullet in the head and what amounted to a "game over" screen. I honestly think I would have been less angry had it just been a story game without all the "open world" stuff. Spoiler Because once you beat the game ALL of your hard work is erased. Your character is dead and everything they did is gone. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story. Even John's chapters in the end. Especially his missions with Sadie. However, I can honestly say that the world seems empty now that Arthurs gone. EVERYTHING he did was wiped away. And the game gives you NO WARNING! It doesn't tell you to finish the side missions. It doesn't tell you early on that the camp upgrades are temporary and it's a complete waste of time to get all of them. It doesn't tell you anything. It leads you on to believe that you'll get to keep everything you've worked hard on and then just throws it all away.
DylBandit
@Aimesleje Did you finish the dialogue?
debbo89
Spoiler Towards the end I made sure I finished all the side missions before doing the story ones. I could kind of tell that the end was nearing for Arthur - his health was deteriorating fast and the various dialogue between him and john and the fact that the gang members were starting leave one by one indicated that the story was coming to an end. Arthurs death saddened me, those final cutscenes from him losing his horse to dying alone at the top of a mountain were heart wrenching. I actually felt kind of comforted by the fact we got to take over as John and the part of the story when you work as the ranch hand, buy beechers hope and do it up were probably some of the most enjoyable parts of the game for me. My biggest issue is that now i am 100% done with the story, there is literally nothing to do. I was hoping that the story would take us deeper into New Austin, maybe get a few more stranger missions thrown in for John, but no. I went travelling around the old map visiting old places but it is literally just an empty map. Armadillo is overcome by illness, you can't even get a drink in the bar. McFarlanes Ranch is empty. What was even the point in including the whole of the old map if theres nothing to do in it?

Spoiler Perhaps, but I struggle to understand what kind of DLC could be introduced if we are to continue as John. John has already explored the whole of that area and Mexico in RDR1/Undead Nightmare. I guess when I heard that the whole of the RDR1 map was being included in the game I was kind of expecting the story to take Arthur there, maybe even have Arthur encounter some of the old RDR1 characters. At the moment it just feels like a third of the map was unused.

I'm sure most people knew it was there, but if you didn't look at any spoilers or leaks, you probably wouldn't of guessed it was there.
Truth
@Aimesleje @DylBandit @debbo89 Spoiler I appreciate you all using the "spoilers" option Not sure why I came here knowing it would be full of spoilers, but it's funny to see the spoiler option being put to use. PZA1982
Quote Think about it this way: If you died tomorrow would everything you have ever done mean nothing? I think it means more, because as with life the fact that it is not infinite makes all of it mean something. The lack of stranger missions in New Austin is a bit sad though, and i really do miss playing as Arthur.
