So I started over and this is my second run through.  Things going well, travel a lot.  Now like the 1st, I am getting high bounties in areas that I have never been to rarely been to.  Not talking about West Elizabeth either.   They're not from missions and I haven't committed crimes.  So question I have is there areas that if you ride through you are just going to get a wanted level?  I experienced this in the far east and the north of the map?  Middle of no where, no city and rarely any people.

@YodaMan 3D the highest bounty crime is a train robbery, and that only gives you $50... Did you shoot up the town? I got mine up to 455 that way. Unless you're really trying, you're bounty won't get very high...

Beginning to sound like a bug.  Its hard to get a high bounty, let alone without knowing what you did!

Hell, I'm STILL in Chapter 2, (but over 42% completion rate) and the highest bounty I've gotten is $300.  That's after murdering about 100 bounty hunters with a sweet Cheapie Maghee spot in Valentine.

But it's difficult to ignore multiple reports about this.  It's probably a bug, but absent a larger sample size with specific detail, it's hard to say what it is or isn't with any degree of certianty.

Same, but I'm at 49%. Played for 6 hours yesterday and only got 0.5% lol

BUT I got my upgraded satchel!

I'll post the bounties list once the email goes through (can't just post it from my phone for some reason...

It was like $425 and was riding in the East Grizzlies.  What gave it away was bounty hunters showed up.  I out ran them and went to check to see why they was chasing me and to see what my bounty was.  I had just paid off all my bounties and was shocked that I still had a bounty, let alone one so high.  Bounty that high you can't even go near a town without law or bounty hunters come looking.

They'll show up for $15, those greedy pricks...

You definitely had to have shot up a town for that.

Nope!  My concern was that there maybe restricted areas that flag if you ride through them.

I feel like I am one of the lucky few who doesn't have to deal with bounty hunters that often.  Total bounty is around $320, but the only time i was really frustrated was when i was going to a javier mission on chapter 2.

Mostly depends where you are/what you're doing. I couldn't hunt or fish anywhere for a while because of my bounties. They would show up every few minutes, sometimes by the time I finished looting the previous group. I finally turned myself in and was able to play freely with no issues. I still have one bounty  at $455, but I don't spend much time in that area anyway.

If you're just playing through the missions you probably won't encounter them too often. Spend more time exploring an area with a high bounty and they can get aggressive (and annoying)...

The loot adds up nicely though!

Well i just got to chapter 3 last night, and am getting ready to start my free roam adventure aside from a few house robbery's, random encounters, and "pimpin" my duel Schofields i haven't really done much other than the missions.  Also im playing without the day-one patch (due to internet)-(or lack of) and haven't encountered any of these "game breaking bugs"

actually you don't.  $455 is the highest bounty i've had, and it started with a train robbery (they thought i was robbing it while standing on top shoot at birds.... go figure.)  I didn't wear my mask so after the train stopped and the mini-map went red, i said what the heck and robbed 2 of the train cars, killed all the law coming after me, then ran away.  Just for that i had almost $200 on my bounty, don't recall the exact amount.  I might have killed a passenger or 2 shooting at the law also, and they killed 2 for sure, wonder if that gets added onto your bounty if they kill them?

I ran away from there to go hunt cougar north of Lake Owanjila (sp?)  just happened that was the same state the train stopped in, so i was killing bounty hunters every time i turned around, and then killing witnesses that saw me looting the bounty hunters.  Doing that bumped my bounty up to $455.  Only time i set foot in town was to sell stuff or buy more ammo.

After selling all my bounty hunter treasure, and skins while i was hunting, i made a few hundred bucks even after buying ammo.  Not a bad way to make some money, gets frustrating thought having to stop what you're doing and kill the bounty hunters.  I really didn't like the dogs they send in first,  took me by surprise the first time and I died.

That's where I decided I had to go take care of my bounty. I REALLY didn't like shooting those dogs...

That picture never went through, but here's the list:

Spoiler

Animal Cruelty: $5

Arson: $5

Assault: $5

Bank Robbery: $25

Cheating: $5

Disturbing the Peace: $5-$10

Intimidation: $5

Jail Break: $25

Kidnapping: $10 ($15 for lawmen)

Looting: $5

Murder: $15 ($20 for lawmen)

Robbery: $5-$10

Rustling: $5

Theft: $5 ($10 for horse theft)

Train Robbery: $50

Trespassing: $5

Vandalism: $5

Unarmed Assault: $5

My point was, it takes more than just punching someone on accident to get a high bounty.

Yes, murdering wave after wave of bounty hunters and lawmen will add up.

Edit: That's from the official guide.
