Auto-Aim: Devil's Advocate

Allow me to play "Devil's Advocate" regarding Auto-Aim.

Seems like a large portion of players detest Auto-Aim as "no skill", "trolls" etc. "Get good" you may think.

I'd like to take this opportunity to direct your attention to something that has always lurked in the dark of the gaming world, since its inception. There are many disabled gamers who may rely on Auto-Aim. Myself included. Yes, you may not have remembered or realized - I am extremely physically disabled.

Lately there (finally!) has been a push from the disabled community about game accessibility and developers are finally starting to take notice. Look at Microsoft's revolutionary Xbox Adaptive Controller (or "XAC"). Or Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Insomniac's Spider-Man, or Square Enix's Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 has incorporated some accessibility options such as switching Taps to Hold, Subtitles/Speaker labels and varying degrees of Auto-Aim/Aim Assist. As a disabled gamer - I use every option Rockstar has provided.

Does it still seem fair to arbitrarily remove Auto-Aim entirely from Red Dead Online? That would put me, and many others of varying abilities out of luck completely.

Might I suggest folks get behind the idea of providing Private "Hardcore" Servers? Private servers are most assuredly coming. Have patience please - it's still a beta. Don't scream so loud about removing something disabled gamers are literally fighting for, Inclusion. Like most game modes in GTA: Online, you can probably lock the rules to Free Aim and First/Third Person views for added challenge.

Thanks for reading.

I know someone who depends on assisted gaming as well and I certainly approve of it being in most if not every game. The downside to this is that kids (cause you know parents will be buying this game for them even though they shouldn't) and casual players who want to improve their skills don't have the option. I think it is a great idea to have a standalone "hardcore" option for serious players and those who want to rely on their skills and I hope to see something like this in the future when the game is out of beta testing. This way everyone wins.

I use auto aim because I'm bad at games and want to at least hit things and pretend to be bad ass even though i suck :)

tbh, even with auto aim I often miss and am too slow.  I don't have the telexes of a 20 year old.  And my elderly father with bad eyesight certainly wouldn't be able to play at all without bot aim.

I hate auto aim..        For me its not about skill or getting good.  I just don't like getting hit with bullets so easily.

I just want a free aim mode.  :(

IMO It still require skills to be good with auto aim.  Its just a totally different type of game play with auto aim compared to free aim.

As of right now.. Free aim players are just salty due to no free aim lobbies.  So, heres hoping R* adds it soon.

Auto aim is not a bad thing but auto aim where you can shoot as far as we can in this game is not a lot of fun. Most times i get killed from long range and it's a head shot. No free aimer can do that long distance.

Actually the further the distance the more it favors free aim.   You can free aim and hit targets beyond auto aim lock on reach.  Its also easier to head shot someone with free aim at long range.

Its what i do..  Against auto aim users.    Infact the 1st thing myself and friends did when we hooked up is check the auto aim range.  Once we figure that our we try out best to stay out that range and shoot each other.

And theres also Dead Aim.    The Varmint rifle and Dead Eye+ Head = Dead..
