Legendary ram skinned but no kill awarded

Curious if anyone has had this happened and figured out a solution.  I killed the legendary big horn ram and skinned it.  Just to realize it didn't credit me with the kill.  Is there a way to get another one to spawn?

If it’s dead and skinned, it’s dead and skinned forever . All you can do is go back to a previous save. 

There is only one legendary animal of each species.

Yeah once you skin the animal, it doesn't respawn again. Your game clearly glitched somewhere for some reason. I had this happen to me with one of them but I caught it right away and just went back a save. I only lost about 40 min of game play.

I had same problem with the legendary beaver. It didn't respawn but after few missions I played and came back to see the progress on the beaver the kill was awarded? Guess it was just a glitch that repaired itself. If you trynna 100% the game on current run I wouldn't take the risk and load the previous save before killing the ram though. Good luck buddy.

I made a proper mess of killing the leg Bison. It was chasing it all over and it ran into Lake Isabella because it was sick of me. As it was coming out of the lake I thought I'd take advantage of its limited mobility and kill it then,  but I kiilled it too soon and it just sank into the lake 😅. I thought all was lost as I couldn't retrieve its pelt, but then shortly after got a message saying something like I'd abandoned the pelt but go to the trapper who now has it.

I have the same problem with the legendary coyote. in the compendium he is skinned but not killed. in my opinion it happened that the coyote died trampled by my horse and not killed by me. I realized this too late, now I killed all the legendary animals but the panther does not appear on the map.

The legendary ram was probably in denial that you had found it and killed it.

Legendary Panther only shows/spawns for the Master Hunter challenge.

unfortunately not. I've already finished the story and I wanted to complete the secondary missions like legendary fish and animals, duchesses and plumes ..

I noticed this with one of the other animals and after all was said and done, it ended up crediting me for the kill. So there is a chance this can happen for you but if you don't want to risk it, just go back to another save like mentioned and do it over.
