The moose have left the building?

Used to be you could ride from lake Isabella up to Cairn lake and see a moose almost every time.  Saw many while hunting Rams up there.

Now that I need 2 moose hides for the trapper gear, there are no moose to be found.  Haven't seen one in that area in weeks.  Haven't seen one in the legendary moose area in a month or more.

Last patch break moose?  Where else can you hunt them (I'm only in chapter 4)?

There are multiple possible spawn locations for the moose:

North of Annesburg, along the lake in Roanoke Valley.

North West in Grizzlies East, on the top right side of the lake.

Cairn Lake, North East in Grizzlies West.

Along the Dakota River, South of Valentine.

Tall Trees, pretty much the whole area.

If you reach that destroyed cabin up at Lake Isabella, then save your game, you can load back up, go up to the cabin, then make your way down to the water. One will usually spawn 8f you do that. If it doesn't, or it isn't 3 stars, just load back up and try again.

didn't think of that.  I'd go hunt for them for a bit, then go do a mission or something and head back to hunt them again a couple in-game days later.  I found them easily doing the satchel and camp upgrades.  Now that i need 2 to finish off the Trapper crafting garments/items i can't find them anywhere.

I was looking around for them for a few hours. I checked most of the places @Padalex mentioned but never spotted one. I got mauled by a few cougars and shot down a few bears, but no moose in sight.

Really sucks because I'm pretty sure I just need to skin a moose for the  "skin every animal" achievement... I'm stuck at 98% and can't figure anything else out...

check the animal compendium  it will list all that have been killed, studied, tracked, and skinned.  If you did the camp upgrade you should have skinned one, unless you turned in the carcass.

I skinned the male, not the female. They're shown as 2 different animals in the compendium so I think they might count them as a different species for the achievement.

that sucks, i've never seen a female, just lone bulls roaming around.

works but my god this is tedious.  6 or 7 restores at the save to finally see a moose.  Oh but i'ts just 2 star and my trinket didn't upgrade the skin (yes my luck is sh*t).  They need to change the wording on that trinket, it doesn't work every time like it reads to do.

@HooverRAD not only did that work, but the white Arabian was practically forced on me lol

Thanks for the tip! Still need to find a female moose, but I got a perfect pelt right away.

The  cow will sometimes spawn there too, but they're a lot more rare than the bull, and rarer still to get a perfect one.

Didn't need a perfect one, just had to skin it. That was all I needed for the "skin deep" achievement. Finally just got it near Willard's Crest.

Thanks Mate !  I was looking there (thats where I got one on last play through but think that wasa side mission so wasn't sure it'd respawn there).  Have to be patient and get that bait down!

I found bait is worthless for the panthers.  99% of the time a fox or coyote grabs it instead.  What i do is camp to the north of hte area, use cover scent, then crouch walk around the camp,  there's a panther spawn nearby that works for a 3 star panther damn near every time.   With cover scent and crouch they won't detect you right away, listen for their growl, then eagle eye the area until you see it.
