Lost legendary coyote

I killed the legendary coyote and mounted it on my horse without skinning it. I placed it in camp and it disappeared. And no, it did not get sent to the trapper. The main point is that I did not skin the legendary coyote and now I can’t make the trinket at the fence. Is there any way I can resolve this, or am I screwed?

Are legendaries a thing online now or did you just put this in the wrong section?

As for your question, I believe so long as you didn't skin him, he will reappear in the wild. Just the area again after 1 or 2 days have passed in game time.

Moving this to the RDR2 section instead of online. 

RDO does not have legendary animals or trappers.  The closest thing are the ones you face in the stranger missions but still, those are not the same thing.

i'd wait like @shawn said.  If you have a save point before the time you shot the coyote might have to use that also.

As stated, it should revert back to the original location after a few days.

For reference, you should always skin your legendary animals as soon as you kill them.  There's no benefit at all in carrying them on your horse.  If you get killed before you deliver the pelt to the trapper, the pelt will automagically get delivered to the trapper.
