Will Arthur have a change of heart?

It is clear we will be playing the bad guy in this one but what are the chances of him having a change of heart as the game goes on?

Further more, what is stopping Arthur from being the character who gets killed by a certain someone when he goes on the run? I am still hopeful John will be in this game in some shape or form so I would not mind him being the one to kill Arthur at the end.

I am not sure about a change of heart. He seems like he will be as evil as they come throughout the game, specially working with Dutch and the gang.

For the sake of this story happening before the last one took place, I would like to think that John would be in it. Like even if they do decide to have John be the one to kill Arthur, I would be perfectly fine with that. Maybe Dutch finds out Arthur stabbed him in the back and he hires John, his new right hand man, to take him out. This would then allow for them to have one more story with John if they choose to and that would be seeing him turn good.

I can't see them going in that direction but it is not a bad idea. I like that you end up being killed by John. It is like bitter sweet considering you died as John in the last one.

He isn't a part of RDR2 but that doesn't mean he was killed or died in this game. Maybe he just went his own way. I know this is Rockstar and all but they don't always make it so simple as someone just being killed off for the sake of death.

You mean RDR? And yeah I get what you are saying but still, if they are smart they will line up RDR and RDR2 using the main character.

Realistically...

I am just hoping wherever this story line goes, we get to see JOHN MAAAARRSTON! Nothing against Arthur but I doubt he will top John.

Judging by the third trailer Arthur is much more morally conflicted character than we were initially introduced to in the second trailer, he's very well aware that the wild west is dying with his line "This thing is pretty much over, we're more ghosts than people" and then Dutch imploring him to "keep faith" I think he'll definitely develop a conscience as the game goes on,  I think he and John will probably be close friends, I think he may bring John into his way of thinking and persuade and help him and Abigail to leave the gang behind.
