lumper
In the update on the newswire Tuesday Rockstar made it official. So, this Summer update is going to be very exciting. We'd like to thank all of our loyal players for continuing to send us their feedback via the official Red Dead Online Feedback page and encourage you to please keep it coming. We've been working on implementing some of the top-requested features for the next major Red Dead Online update - including the ability to reset your character’s appearance without altering your progress, automatically retaining Playing Style preferences (Defensive/Offensive) when transitioning to and from Free Roam and much, much more.
Kean_1
Thanks for posting this. It was in the latest update thread but it's certainly worthy of it own. I know there have been a lot of fellow community members who have been looking forward to some news on this. Now we just have to wait and see how much it will cost if anything. I also like the fact that the defensive/offensive option will stick. I hate having to keep turning defensive on.
MrPicard
Same here, I'm also glad Defensive will stick. I also hope they'll find a way to put you in Defensive when you load into the game in the first place (not sure if that's what they mean in the article, I think they only mean when you go from a PVP series back into Free Roam?). Nothing gives me more RDR anxiety than being placed in the middle of a fight and then having to frantically whistle for my horse and run away and have to wait for Defensive Mode to kick in, all at the same time. And I'm also looking forward to being able to slightly change my character's appearance. I'd love some shrill hair colors but then, this isn't GTA... ah well. I'd also settle for a few nice goatee options, the available ones really don't do anything for me.
James Hickok_1837
Yes !!! Im waiting for character remake. I was a bit drunk when i made mine and could have been better. More similar to Wild Bill. Good News !
Vaderspupil
Can't wait to remove the ugly acne from my character's face. When I made him, I didn't know about the advanced facial construction features. I chose one of the default ones.

I think it means, if you are in defensive let's say and you go from free roam into a pvp session and then eventually back into Free roam, that your settings will revert, as they go to offensive I think automatically when you go into pvp, I think? not sure if that is auto or not, but anyway my understanding was as I said, it should remember your settings for free roam and put them back on automatically. I too cant wait for character creation, I initially made a character with a lot of character in his face, on purpose, but I also made him over weight, I wanted a certain look for the times and his age, like this is an old guy, he survived the civil war and then headed west to prospect, eventually took to some bandit stuff some hunting, mostly just surviving and taking things as they came, BUt his weight was a huge problem for a long time as I had a nasty stamina drain rate penalty as a result and his clothes would glitch, so I wanted to fix that for a long time, Now though I am so used to him, he lost the weight, some days I am actually under weight which is a huge difference given where I started and so I dunno, I may or may not change him at this point to be honest. but I am really excited to have the option. Kean_1
Could also mean after you play certain side missions that automatically put you in offensive mode.
JB the flutterby
Is there a date set for this? I've been hearing about it for days (very new to the game), and have been wondering when ? Thanks a bunch
JB the flutterby
I was under the understanding that the update was going to be today/am? Was I told wrong? I've been leaving my ps4 console on rest mode so that it could auto update, but I've not seen anything come through. Could someone please clear this up. Thank you. Updates tend to come every Tuesday for RDO. However, most are typically bonuses, new outfits being offered, PvP events, challenges, etc. Title Updates (TUs) are few and far between and the next one (the Summer Update) will be coming any time between now and the end of Summer. There are no other specifics on it's release as of yet. The TU is likely when we will see the big gameplay changes like the ones mentioned in this thread you are talking about. I post updates in this forum as soon as I see them so stay tuned.
