No poker since 1.18 update.

Poker hasn't worked since a day after 1.18 update. When I approach the table to join a game, the message,"This feature is not available now. Please try again later". The triangle button is also grayed out. (PS4)

The game worked fine before updates. I understand that the poker game is not available in some countries but I am in US and have been playing for the past 3 months without any problems whatsoever. I would appreciate it if anyone that happens to stroll by the tables would check for the message on the left hand upper corner of the screen. I just want to know if its a me problem or its happening across the board. Thanks.

I am in scandenavia so no gambling restrictions btw if that makes any difference.

I contacted Rockstar support and their responses have been less than helpful. They suggested I do a cache cleanse and then to "just keep trying and its bound to start working again". (Self healing software) I tried deleting the game and reinstalled it, which did nothing. Since this problem started with the latest update, I suspect that has something to do with it. I know that when they added poker 9 months ago, they had this problem because of regional restrictions. Rockstar had  some legal problems they had to sort out and I am curious if that has anything to with my problem now. That is why I raised the question, to see if anyone in this country (USA) is experiencing similar problems.

I don't play Poker too often but I did notice it was not available for me either. It seems to be working just fine on PC though which is making me think it is down to the latest update though I don't see many people asking about it or saying it isn't working. Must be a few of us unlucky fellas or something.

If we could find one more person, in the US, that has the same problem as we do, we might be on to something. (At least we would have the workings of a great conspiracy theory.)

I ran into a very similar thing a couple of months ago the week before they opened the Moonshiner missions. I also noticed that this last update was huge compared to any updates previously. Seemed odd that it would take that much data just for clearing up the problems that they were going after. It seemed like they might be adding and revamping a big chunk of the game. (Frontier gambler role?) I played a lot of poker in the original game, 10 years ago. It was quite popular and structured very differently from this version. Honestly, the current version is pretty simplistic and not very interesting in comparison. (It's no wonder that its only you and I playing it.) I feel like Rockstar is leaving a huge chunk of gold on the table by not making something decent out of it. (Tournaments?)  I think to do that, they would need to totally revamp the poker game. (Large update file?)

I also contacted customer support about the problem. They are very evasive toward my questions, more so than normally. We may not find the answers but at least we may have started a good rumor.🙂 Perhaps we will get an answer with the Tuesday update.

Update: I just received a message from Rockstar support basically telling me to reformat my hard drive and talk to Sony about my problem. Boy.....that escalated fast! 😬 I think I have a much better idea. How about I take their disc and fling it into Lake Michigan and find another game to play?🙃

you are better off just spamming their twitter, as every single reply from them will be: clear cashe, gib video evidense; sorry your ps4 might be broken cuz there is nothing wrong with the game.

the support must be just a generic support senter.

 

as to why they dont expand the poker, they dident see that they would be hit by gambling laws(in red or in gta5o), forcing them to block the poker in some regions/countrys, so it makes no sence for them to make content that some cannot use due to local law.

Couple things....

Their Support appears to be tiered and yes, the initial contact does seem to be from a support center. Not uncommon in a lot of businesses. They operate from scripts which is why folks get common responses and only know what they are fed.  Updates the company feeds them can also can get overlooked at times by some reps / supervisors depending on how good these centers are.  Unfortunately, you also get some reps who are absolutely clueless and others that seem to have at least some basic grasp on troubleshooting.  It used to be that you could get things escalated quite quickly but ever since PC release their Cust Support has suffered greatly.

In regard to gambling / poker, R* knew darn well what they were doing and the hurdles in this regard.  The issues you are experiencing so far seem to be relatively isolated. I hadn't heard anything about a widespread problem in this regard.  .....not yet at least.

Also, considering what they've done in GTAO with the Casino, I'm guessing expanding gambling in RDO wouldn't be an issue and who knows, perhaps they will. To be honest, I don't even know how they got away with it in GTAO considering you can buy in-game cash with real money.  At least in RDO, GBs are essentially separate from the cash.  Either way it appears they felt quite confident they had the conflict of interest concerns licked.

After a week of trying to join a game, 3 times a day, a modern miracle happened today. I was able to join poker games again. I tried several different spots and they all worked as before the update. No.....I did not reformat my drive as rockstar support suggested. I put my faith in rockstars new self healing software.

Let this be a lesson to us all. When rockstar tells us to "just keep trying" then we should all just keep trying. Eventually, all the bugs will just disappear. You just got to have a little bit of goddamn faith!
