What the heck happened to Pokemon?

I haven't played any of the games in years. I think the last I played was generation 3 and I stopped playing after that. A friend of mine got me into doing battles again on Showdown. I was considering getting the next new game... but wtf is "Let's Go"? This is like a child's game or something. Or like a lazy version of that  Pokemon Go app. Is this the future of Pokemon games now or something? If so, I am walking away again. lol

@FLIP The pokemon let's go games are based off of pokemon yellow. They're essentially a modern version of it with updated graphics and mechanics. There are a few things that are pretty stupid about it (like the name), but I'm hoping it will be the game I wish I had has a kid. I'm going to give it a shot.

If you can pick up a cheap 3DS then some of the sixth gen games are really worth it (X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Sun/Moon), the gameplay has come a long way since the older games.

Yeah my gf plays for HOURS on her 3DS on Pokemon.

The Let's Go games are meant to bridge the gap for Pokemon fans. It is like a stepping stone from casual fans to hardcore ones. Nothing more. If it is not your cup of tea, the generation 8 game will be out next year for the Switch.

I have played the games on and off since Gen 1. Sometimes I am in the mood for them, sometimes I skip them. Depends on what games come out around the same time.
