  1. Hey partners !!!! I've recently came back to game after i saw that RDR2 is on Game pass ( you got to love the hordes of noobs trying to shoot you while doing stuff etc. OH the pain they feel when they realise they fcuked with the wrong cowboy. no offence ppl ) So i always preferred Bolt action then Springfield bcoz its slightly faster and more accurate. But i noticed something strange and pls correct me if im wrong: Was the bolt action nerfed? I feel that the range is dumbed down a bit..... Anyway ill try Springfield today - havent used it for ages. Cya in game folks !

  2. I started off with the bolt action rifle and today I purchased the Springfield Model 1888 rifle and so far, I'm liking the Springfield rifle better. Both are great rifles!.

  3. Welcome back!! Glad you said that, as I have thought the same thing. I recently switched back to Springfield from Bolt Action as I don't find the Bolt as effective, suddenly. Massively prefer the Springfield now. And yes, being set upon by a posse of single digit level players (or the odd optimistic solo) when visiting a saloon or butcher or some such is good fun. See you out on the range.

  4. Hah! Glad to know I wasn't alone. I've triggered this twice now, immediately following the Strawberry - San Denis Dry Dash. First time, like everyone else here, they killed me and my horse (also a white Arabian I'd had from close to the start). I was also confused and pissed, but fortunately I had a save state from only maybe 30min before, so I loaded it, redid the run and rode to the same bridge, just north of the Stables. This time I jumped off the horse right before I reached the edge of the bridge, scoped on a figure sitting in the field and figured they were going to jump me again - seems like this is scripted for that bridge, and maybe immediately after the Strawberry - San Denis run. I started sprinting for the buildings on the right and managed to take cover before the gatling gun got me, and then was able to pick off each Leymoyne Raider one by one - I survived the ambush! Then I was curious if the gatling gun wagon was still around, and it was - and my character was able to jump on and use it. I'm currently taking it to Emerald Station to see if I can fence it, aside from that not sure what else I could do but maybe go and raid Shady Belle. Glad to see this wasn't a glitch and is in fact survivable, hope my story helps others - always save before leaving San Denis on that bridge!

  6. For me it's all about staying calm and that has only come with being in the heat of a fight many times. At first the panic of trying to figure out what to do made me mess up doing the simplest things like taking a tonic. Then over time it all becomes natural and you develop the confidence you need to get into a fight and take down targets relentlessly and methodically. As you level up and can get the more powerful weaponry and ammo, the job gets easier. As for other players attacking, there isn't too much you can do against sniping except to keep moving. As for melee, never be bashful to fistfight. I've surprised myself to find I could punch another player to death and even when you are jumped you can throw the other player off. If you are roped, hitting the X button on the gamepad will get you free with rapid pressing. Since the other player doesn't have an indication of when you will break free, you have that surprise in your favor. A tip that might seem obvious is never to travel with your ready weapon a scoped rifle. I've been killed by animals and players simply because in the emergency I draw my weapon only to find it is useless with the scope. For that reason, the bolt action rifle is my best friend and I always stow it with the scope off, ready for melee action. I have never used dead-eye. I think it's a crutch and it's just one more thing to deal with. Also, back off on the auto-targeting as you get better. This forces you to improve aiming until you are quickly on target before the red dot appears. When a fight starts and you stay cool, you've done the job and there's no substitute for putting in the time to get there.
