  2. The game lets you put animals, pelts on other peoples horses and also bodies. I had a troll who was particularly annoying ... So I followed him to Valentine, I quietly stabbed someone and put the body on his horse while he was in the gunsmith. I then shot a few rounds in the air to get people to notice the area. He came out to find himself wanted for murder, tons of witnesses and a full on assault by the law.

  3. MOONSHINERS: A NEW FRONTIER PURSUITCOMING DECEMBER 13TH TO RED DEAD ONLINE In an America not yet fully governed by law, opportunity abounds for the lawless - wild open space ready and waiting for the ruthless and ambitious to carve a new future for themselves. How better to make your fortune than to become a black-market Moonshiner, the all-new Frontier Pursuit coming to Red Dead Online on December 13th. Establish your own bootlegging business in this new Specialist Role – an ideal fit for players progressing along the Trader path or anyone seeking a property to call their own. Unlock unique role-specific skills as you perfect your distillation methods, avoid the law, and put rival peddlers out of business. If you’re lucky, you might survive long enough to open your own speakeasy. Any active Trader who has completed a sell mission or reached Rank 5 in the Trader progression will receive an introduction via Cripps to meet the infamous Maggie Fike - an experienced bootlegger with the scars to prove it - down at Emerald Ranch. Maggie’s got the connections and the knowledge to help you get your business up and running. Purchase a Moonshining Shack and you will be on your way. To passers-by, the Shack is an unassuming dwelling, the main floor acting as a front with all the details of an ordinary homestead. The basement, however, is where you'll ultimately get down to business. Owning and operating the Moonshine business is just part of your role. You’ll also work with Maggie through a series of story missions to be played solo or cooperatively as you help her get revenge on those who tried to take her down. As you grow the business (and eliminate a rival operation), you’ll learn new recipes and techniques that help make your moonshine the best by a country mile. You'll also have the opportunity to set up your own underground Bar serving your own shine, with customizable décor and the option to add a country band complete with dance floor to entertain your friends and clientele. Look for much more to come to Red Dead Online alongside Moonshiners on December 13th - including Outlaw Pass No. 2, new Moonshiner role unlocks, the new Navy Revolver, additional clothing options and an increase in the amount of outfit slots in your Wardrobe.

  5. I'm going to preface this with the disclaimer that i am NOT talking about anyone in particular, here on these forums or elsewhere. But it is very comical/sad watching all of these folks "grind" through all of the content as fast as possible, to unlock every feature and reward, before everyone else... and then spend the next 6 months complaining because they are bored with it and expect R* to have the next update ready to go, NOW! (and it's R*s fault that they ran out of content) I'm not bored, I'm in no hurry. I hunt and trade for a while, go catch a bounty or two, stop by the saloon and play a few hands of poker, maybe go find a treasure, clear a few camps if I spot them, craft a bit at camp and pet the dog... etc. I guess, I just don't get the need to "grind" and certainly don't get "grinding" to "complete" everything as soon as humanly possible. It just seems so very counter to "fun". As for me, it will take me probably months to complete all three roles. And I am absolutely, 100% fine with that. Obviously, ymmv.

  7. Ive been working on this for sometime. Its it very near complete and I tried to be as accurate as possible. Just needed to get it posted before the holiday vacation. Current prices on all animal carcus, pelts and parts as of update 1.05 Please let me know if this is not showing up correctly. My original had links for every animal to the rockstar compendium and everything but its just too much for the upload I guess.

  8. Hello all, Tired of getting your face blown off while skinning that 3-Star cougar? Are you sick of having to check your map for enemy players while reeling in a 20lb Muskie? If so you are not alone. Luckily...RED_DEADMAN understands your frustration and is here to help. As a rank 110 player, I have enough experience with griefers to know that sometimes...you just need a little extra firepower. That's where I come in. What I offer? I offer my time and my rifle. I will accompany you on your adventures and ensure that hostile players and their crew do not get within a lethal distance of you or your posse. Ensuring the safety of you and your friends during any expeditions(hunting, fishing , stranded missions etc. What does my service cost? Absolutely nothing. (I do however accept tips in the form of animal carcus/pelts added to my horse....but not required). I am in this more for the experience and to meet new players. How does it work? Simply send me a friend request on PSN with a message saying "RDS" (Or basically anything else you want that let's me know you are from the forums). If I am available at that time I will join your online session. I will not join your posse for security reasons, unless you are willing to assume the risk. I will remain in your general vicinity and protect you at all costs unless your safety requires me to leave the area. Leaving you free to focus on enjoying the day. What about chat? I will accept invites to your party but will not utilize a microphone unless your safety requires me to do so...or if you have special instructions during my term of employment. This service is for PS4 players only and intended to be more fun that serious...although everything previously stated is 100% accurate.

  11. There always seems to be enough grumbling about this or that in the game. Last night, I enjoyed a nearly perfect evening so, I thought I would share. I spawned into Saint Denis without much thought about what the night would hold, except I knew I had a brand new treasure map that I had just won upon turning 80. My only real goal for the evening was to take it easy and go collect on the treasure. So, I spawn in, head over to the Mail Station to pick up my catalog purchases and stock up on ammo, etc. when suddenly... "YOU HAVE BEEN TARGETED FOR ASSASSINATION" I've seen this movie before, so I jump on my horse immediately and head straight out of town, in the opposite direction from the bright red dot and at full speed. I get caught in the marshes and the assassin is eventually able to catch up to me with about 2 minutes left on the timer. He fires at me while riding at full speed and misses. Then I hit a fallen log on the side of the road and go head first into the dirt. He's got me, dead to rights. As I am slowly picking myself back up, he's right on top of me. And then foolishly, he decides to lasso me instead of just shoot me dead. I break the lasso immediately, ignore the horse, and make like I am going to take off running by jumping into the trees and bushes beside the road. His second mistake, he takes the bait and rides full ahead into the trees and brush behind me. Only, I'm not really running. I've drawn both sawed off shotguns and he rides right into them. Bang, Bang, Dead. I see him respawn and head back in my direction, but by then, I am long gone and he's out of time. Victory. So, back to my treasure hunt... it's half way across the country, now. Off I go. Only, there's a poker game going on in Flatneck Station which is on my rout. So, I might as well stop in and play a few hands. First couple, I lose a little or fold out. Then I get a great Hand, Aces over Kings, same suit. I win the big pot and and have almost 40 dollars on the table. Settle up. Take my leave with a smile and head out back for treasure. Victory. I finally get to the area where the treasure is supposed to be and there's a random encounter there. A young lady's horse has died, stranding her in the desert. Of course, I offer to help. It's an ambush! I have to fight my way clear of a a couple of dozen attackers in 2-3 waves. But they're no match for me and I enjoy looting each and every one. Victory. I finally get to the treasure and discover $150 bucks plus a few trinkets. Victory! As I am riding out, the young lady from before is back. Same dead horse. Same sob story. Only this time, she isn't playing me and really needs a ride. So, I take her to meet her brother at the Fort, drop her off and collect the reward. Victory. I thought about playing a bit more, but it was a work night and everything had been so much fun and had worked out in my favor at every turn, so I just took it as a "perfect evening" that didn't need me hanging around to get spoiled. And I logged out, very happy with my evening adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed the night. I hope my little tale didn't bore anyone too much and if you read this far, thank you. I hope you guys all have great nights like these as well, just not when you're coming after me. Cheers!

  14. Wait ..what in the blue hell are you talking about? Joking..kinda. What players are you talking to? Tons of players got to high levels the legit way. I am one of them. Don't make blanket untrue statements. Seems very judgmental and kinda foolish. Tons of peoples level up in this game without being a lame ass. You must play with people like that. I'm sorry. And you can grind solo or in a posse. Not very hard. If you hate Free Roam, just grind Showdown. Solo players can still level up as fast as posses. Not that hard. I only run with a posse when I want to, not because I have to. I actually prefer running missions solo at times. Sometimes I just need quite.

This isn't Marvel Heroes Omega As I am so fond of telling my kids, "The United States of America does not negotiate with terrorists". Begging your pardon, m'Lord, I doubt you saw down the length of your nose upon us humble peasants from atop your high horse: I suggest Fortnite. I somehow suspect that is not a tender, gentle love.

  17. If you are playing on PS4 and get griefed, when you respawn immediately crouch so that your griefer cannot see you. Pull up the player list with your left directional button. Locate the griefer on the list and click on them. Choose the option to see their PSN profile. Once there, choose the "..." option at the right and click on "Block". Log out and log back into the game. You will never see that player ever again. I did that on the first two days of playing. I blocked about 10 people. Now I am on servers without any di*ks, I have been playing all day today -- everyone is cool. The PvP griefers are a tiny asinine minority. At least so far, until R* puts in a more concrete way to deal with them like private lobbies, this method at least eliminates the griefers after one event with you. Like I said, after a couple of days and about 10 griefers getting blocked, I've been able to play peacefully all day today without anyone causing me any problems. I've had plenty of folks in my vicinity, but since I've been blocking the "must kill evah thing ah see" crowd, all of my fellow players have been peaceful and considerate.

  21. So, I usually send Rockstar a note once a week after a Tuesday update bothering them about the current state of the game, pestering them about communicating better with us. I had said to them, you put out a newswire weekly yet say nothing about the number 1 question from nearly every player currently playing the online game, when are you goign to fix this issue? what are you trying? when will you try it? why wont you try these suggestions,? etc.... and I usually get the exact same reply, stay tuned, we are aware, etc.... Well after a lengthy back and forth with them last week that lasted til today, after explaining to them that fixing gold glitches and ignoring animal spawns is discouraging for players, preventing solo lobbys yet immediately fixing a duplication glitch isnt a good look. anyway, my last reply from Rockstar came this morning, in it they said this, I am going to copy paste their words. " we would like to inform you that these issues will be fix along with new patch," Now, we were talking about Tuesday's weekly updates just before this, so to me and I said this to them, it looks as though he is saying this weeks update may contain a bug fix for the animal spawns and server issues. I cant be sure obviously for all I know he meant a patch that is coming down the road or in a certain amount of time, but it does give me hope. It is the first time they ever said anything other than the same old nonsense, stay tuned, we are aware of the problem etc.. I had made suggestions, create a "Hunting mode" and allow players to join a session that is capped with 12 players and a 48 hour in game time frame, then booting them back to the server they were on prior to starting the mode, or just limit servers to 12 and see what happens, etc.. as well as several other ideas we floated, but in the end, they never tried anything, rather they are working on it on their end and hopefully will roll it out to us very soon, I feel like it is too good to be true that it will be tomorrow so I am not getting too excited, but it might be. Let's wait and see what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow does bring to those of us on XbX the new added content for both online and story mode that pc and ps4 got a month ago, so there is that, but who knows, perhaps we will be lucky and they will also roll out a fix for the animal spawns, fingers crossed.

  23. Funny that I predicted in the other topic, that instead of fixing issues and improving anything. They would just add more clothing and a new pvp mode. The ****ING ANIMALS!!!! WTF This is getting tiresome. Whats the point of these damn 'Free Aim' pvp modes, treating them like special pvp modes. There needs to be a FLAT OUT FREE AIM mode for everything, especially FREE ROAM. And if R* wants players to even remotely care about pvp modes, they need HOSTED lobbies with options.. with private lobby options. PVP in RD O could be extremely popular, if they stopped treating it like they do. And the role playing players need private lobbies. And at this point, theres enough clothing in this game to last for years. *Hudawg still beating the dead horse? Nope, im still waiting for the horse to wake up..:D

I hated the random senseless psycho killer thing going on. I see much less of this now and much more purposeful conflict. I’m happy with these changes and look forward to even more.

  27. Well thats your opinion and you are entitled to it, I dont have to agree, I think more players agree with me than you and Rockstar obviously agreed as they made severe changes to the game just for this reason, but that doesnt mean I am right or you are wrong, many people will have many different expectations, and ways to play the game. BUT if someones way of playing ruins someone else's game then maybe they should re-think their play style because although you dont agree, my game style will never interupt what you want to do in game I respect others and I treat people the way I want to be treated. This is way more than "just a game" it is a new style of game, and it can be really great for those of us who appreciate the attention to detail Rockstar added into the game to make it immersive and realistic. If a player isnt hearing anyone on the mic, thats fine, you dont have to hear me to not shoot me, lol shoot your friends, shoot others who want to engage with you, but leave players minding their own business alone, you will never be right with any excuse you can make for causing others to have a negative experience, it is not good for anyone and there is no excuse for it there is no benefit for you to kill innocent people and now the way the game is it will cost you, and the person you attack will have the advantage. Do anything you want as long as it doesnt effect others, simply put there are many ways to shoot your guns in this game so you dont need to go out of your way to shoot at people just because they pass by, that seems to me like if a player does that maybe their bored, and then I ask how can that be? there are stranger missions, story missions, encounters, achievements, daily challenges, pvp modes horse races, fishing competitions, etc.. I mean seriously you can do a dozen other things that actually pay you in xp, gold, and cash, whereas shooting a person who is trying to get to a butcher gives you nothing but a bounty and an aggravated player who was trying to do what HE wanted until you came along. The people who enjoy causing that aggravation and do it only for that reason are griefers and unwanted in the game by all, even those who like to mix it up, I dont mind a gun fight, or a fist fight, but I dont like being shot in the back when I am not looking or ready and doing something like skinning an animal or fishing You suggesting who should and shouldnt play this game is ridiculous, just play the game and have fun, dont worry about philosophy and strategy and what everyone else should be doing. If you enjoy bothering people then so be it, the game is set up against that type of player these days and people are pretty well set up to defend themselves against it, it will cost you money to do it now, while the person you kill looses nothing but a few minutes so, whatever man.

  28. This is the problem. I know a lot of people (myself included) who, just like CosmoKramer, it sounds like, run those two cards specifically to give a chance against the 'random headshotter' (to avoid the term 'griefer'). In fact, the only passive protection you have against those players is Never Without One. Bad people (AKA A$$hats) use the card because it is, all ways up, the most powerful card in the game. I really don't think it's sustainable to argue that NWO use = A$$hat player, unless you're arguing that everyone's an A$$hat. Maybe your actions are self fulfilling? If someone randomly headshots me, and knocks my hat off, I will then go after them until they're dead (usually several times, to make a point). So, we have the following scenario: - I ride somewhere in your vicinity with my usual card loadout. - you see S&S and NWO, and despite me making no hostile move, you decide I must be an A$$hat, and shoot me. - I take exception to being attacked in a random and unprovoked fashion, and come after you, guns blazing. - You feel justified in shooting me, because I'm obviously an A$$hat, you just managed to get your retaliation in first. - I feel justified in returning fire, and in using NWO, because it protects me from (apparent) A$$hats like you who will randomly headshot me while I'm minding my own business. That's no way to live.

  29. RED DEAD ONLINE BETA UPDATENEW FEATURES AND MORE COMING FEBRUARY 26 The next set of updates and new features is set to be added to the Red Dead Online Beta on February 26th as we implement many new improvements and enhancements to the game’s open world, including a new Law and Bounty system, weapons balancing, changes to player blips on the mini-map and more. Read on for details about these changes and stay tuned next week to learn more about some of the other new content coming in this update. Player Visibility As part of our response to community feedback on how to minimize certain types of destructive player behavior, we’ve made some changes to the way player blips will appear on the map. Firstly, we’re reducing the visibility of blips over long distances – your map position won’t display to other players unless you are nearby (within 150 meters) and if you are slightly further away you will only appear when firing your weapon. Players in other towns or regions, for example, won’t be visible. This prevents players from being repeatedly targeted across the map at long distances. We’re also introducing a new system that highlights overly aggressive players. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (and the position of your Posse members) will become more visible to other players with a progressively darkening dot that incrementally shifts from blue to dark red. Your visibility increases through bad deeds such as attacking and killing other players or their horses outside of a structured mode, Free Roam Mission, event or competition, and the shorter the time between bad acts, the more your visibility increases. Shift back to a more righteous path and your visibility will fade over time. We’re also introducing Posse-wide Parleys and improving Feuds. You’ll soon be able to initiate Parley that applies to your attacker’s entire Posse after just a single kill. Alternatively, if you’d rather challenge your opponent, you can initiate a Feud, Posse Feud or Leader Feud after one kill, quickly turning a dispute into a timed mini-deathmatch for rival players to fight out amongst themselves in Free Roam, earning points for each kill on the opposing player. Bounty Hunters & Law Balancing At the same time, players who have racked up high bounties will have a chance to be beset by NPC Bounty Hunters who will attempt to kill them and collect their reward. Criminal behavior will have bounty values and honor consequences that scale based on the severity of the crime. For example, killing another player can incur a higher bounty, while assaulting townsfolk or animal cruelty could give you a lesser bounty if the crime is reported, while lower level crimes like looting and ransacking will only decrease your honor. If your bounty exceeds a certain threshold and Bounty Hunters take notice, you will be wanted dead and alerted to their pursuit. The higher your bounty, the greater your value and the more difficult the pursuit becomes for you and your Posse. Daily Challenges We will also be adding a variety of Daily Challenges to take on across the Red Dead Online Beta. Complete individual objectives that cover every aspect of life on the frontier to earn Gold Nuggets and XP. Challenges will range from foraging for herbs, selling items at a Fence, hunting and skinning animals, clearing hideouts, winning Feuds and so much more. These Daily Challenges will continue to expand and evolve over time bringing specialty challenges and rewards, streak bonuses and more. Other Fixes and More Your feedback has been invaluable so please keep it coming. In addition to these updates we are planning to address several additional changes based on community feedback received thus far - select weapons will be re-balanced including the Varmint Rifle, which will have its accuracy brought more in line with other longarm weapons; voice chat will be reduced to work at closer proximity, and while fixes to horse cargo are numerous and ongoing we plan to introduce some improvements to making pelts and carcasses more persistent after death or respawning. We will have more details on additional content in the February 26th update next week. We are excited about the future of Red Dead Online and look forward to sharing lots more in the weeks and months ahead. Meanwhile, there are chances to earn more XP to rank up ahead of February 26th. Playing in a Posse will bring benefits like earning increased XP in Free Roam Missions and Free Roam Events. Posse up this week to earn twice as much increased XP on these activities, and next week earn 20% more XP across all activities in the Red Dead Online Beta. https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60840/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdobeta-update-02122019&utm_content=newswire

  32. Simply answered this game isn't Fortnite/Pubg or a Battlefield/COD game where it's all about PvP. If that's what you are seeking there are game modes specifically for that. This game allows you to immerse yourself into the world of Red Dead, I'm going to assume you never played the first Red Dead where there were Posse's of all types in there as we well as those who engage heavily with a bit of Roleplay in them (meetings, assassinations, alliances, wars, etc.). Also people Griefing is completely different from PvP. Literally the other day I was killed 4 times while trying to fish, firs time I brushed it off and didn't retaliate after the 3rd time I wanted to see when he would grow tired of killing a non violent person who just wanted to fish. After the 4th I got annoyed and sniped him, he then ran away and left the server. This kid didn't just kill me for the sake of PvP he completely "griefed" by just spawn killing me as I minded my own business and clearly didn't want to participate in PvP at the moment. Now the other issue is, it isn't a matter of just PvPing which I wouldn't mind engaging in from time to time, but the fact that the servers are all Auto Aim where you can literally be running, horseback riding etc.. and the aggressor literally just has to aim and tap the analog stick a little up and shoot with an instant kill doesn't seem fun to me. Now if Free Aim was the main aiming setting then I would be okay with someone randomly shooting me which would at least give me a fighting chance. People don't like being ran up on and instantly get killed with a headshot by someone going 20 mph on a horse, or constantly spawn killed with an easy headshot. In short Free Roams aren't about PvPing, people like to PvP and others simply don't. Which is why my Gang doesn't kill random players unless they're hostile. There are game modes, missions etc for PvP in the game and then there are other games out there where you can go and kill people over and over again, once again RDR online isn't that. I hope I don't come across as rude or condescending in any way it's hard to tell the text tone of a post lol.

  34. Whaaat? Whaaaat does this even mean? Theres nothing overly complicated about this game. And the pace of the game is up to to the player. You can't complain about not making 'progress' if you stop playing the game. IMO this is the best game i've played in years.

  35. You seem to think this game is all about grinding.. While its just one aspect of the game Myself and friend where just hunting yesterday to stock up on food. In comes a four person posse and starts killing us. So we started killing them back. Basically we slaughtered each other over and over again, for over an hour. We actually tried to leave the area after 20 mins, but they killed our horses. After out horses got merked we decided to just keep killing them. Now.. we actually enjoy killing players (hate the auto aim tho).. But we stuck around for that one hour battle. People who don't care for pvp would probably have had to quit the lobby. Forcing pvp on to players who have no interest in it... isn't fun for non pvp folks.

  36. Could we have a Seniors Mode? I'm 68 years old and my nervous system and 56K modem just cant cope with the 14 year old griefers and the jumpy graphics. A casino on the Wapiti Reservation with a Denny's down the trail and we stay out of your way. Win/win.

  39. Hey there, folks. I know we’re all quite jazzed about the game releasing soon, and it’s going to be awesome! Once it does, we’re expecting this forum to get rather busy with lots and lots of talk about the game, its ins-and-outs, and the best/worst things about it. HOWEVER, it should also be considered that many of our forum members will be either unwilling or downright unable to buy the game at its release price. So, they may choose to spend the meantime watching online play videos and reading up on strategies and multiplayer stories here on the forums until they can get their hands on a copy. All this being said – you ARE free to TALK about ANYTHING YOU WANT about the game on this forum. HOWEVER, you CANNOT post any SPOILER VIDEO FOOTAGE. AT ALL. Also: If you're going to MENTION (in text) STORY MODE OR OTHER SPOILERS, our only request is that you use a handy-dandy tool we have here called the SPOILER tool. Here’s a helpful GIF to show you how it works: That’s how you do it. Basically, anything you write about that spoils anything of RDR2, please use this filter. This way, ANYONE can read your posts and still not get the intricacies spoiled. But what exactly IS a “spoiler,” you ask? Spoilers are reveals in the storyline or other important information about the game with dramatic effect. For example: “In story mode, you start with a pistol and six bullets.” – That’s not really a spoiler. That’s more of a gameplay dynamic. No hearts should be broken by learning THIS info on the forums. “Wow! It makes so much sense that Dutch was secretly in love with Abigail before Marston won her heart!” – THAT, friends, is a spoiler. (and a made-up example. I have no clue what happens in this game.) Remember, this applies to posts AND comments! If you click-open a spoiler and want to reply with the same (or another) spoiler, you’ll need to also use the Spoiler tool. So, you have the discernment, you have the tools, and you have the talent. With this neato tool, we give you the freedom to write anything you like without taking anything away from others. As of this posting, this rule is in effect. As the game ages, we may choose to rescind it at a later date – ‘cause, by a certain time, if you STILL haven’t played the game, that’s on you, chief. Sorry ‘bout it. IN THE MEANTIME, we have to impose some regulations: IF YOU encounter a spoiler irresponsibly posted by another forum member, please use the “Report Post” button IMMEDIATELY, and we will address it. We DO understand there may be a slip-up on this policy. If you realize you accidentally posted a story mode spoiler, please Edit the post and use the Spoiler tool. Now, we gotta get into the heavy stuff: If it is found by a moderator that you posted a spoiler without using the tool, or an uncovered spoiler you posted is reported to us, your post WILL be edited or deleted, and the following will occur: First offense: public shaming in the thread by a moderator or admin - NO warning points issued Second offense: public shaming in the thread by a moderator or admin AND warning points issued, as well as a possible temp-ban from the forums Third offense: further warning points will be issued, along with a temp or possible permaban from the forums So, let’s all enjoy playing this game, talking about this game, and the forums. Just use the Spoiler tool, and all will be right with the world. Adios, - Skunk

  42. I was walking through the field at sunset, peacefully admiring the view, when all the sudden I kicked up a few ducks. I reached for my varmint rifle and.. plink, plink, plink they fell to the ground. As I walked over to pick one up I noticed a blue blip on my map. When I was turning around I saw a player with dynamite in one hand and Scofield in the other. I heard over the game in a familiar voice “My Duck”. As I flew through the air in a cart wheel of death, I accepted what I already knew... My wife needs a theme song and an entourage. I'm thinking TNT

  45. I don't know how many folks may have missed this in R*s latest beta status update (I've mentioned it before) but I think it's really interesting. This new "dynamic" sounds like a potentially great opportunity for everyone as it seems players might have a chance to take an active role in being on the side of the law or as "rogues". There's a level of accountability to indiscriminate killing while adding a potentially new and fun aspect to the gameplay. The only people who may not like it are some of the griefers taking advantage of easy targets but I can see how others might welcome the new challenge and chance to role play. If folks could just set aside for a moment trying to define what RDO is (e.g. PvE, PvP, PvPvE, FFA), take a step back and see what R* has said is coming down the pike, I think it's obvious that they don't want to eliminate the adversarial aspect of the gameplay but simply try and help mitigate some of the griefing taking place. .....in other words, balance (which is really all that some of us have been asking for). In the end, we could end up with new and interesting aspects to the gameplay that benefit everyone. Let's see how it shakes out first.

  46. Pacing in this game is a sensitive and divisive topic. Some folks find the game irreparably slow, seemingly preferring the reckless and wild abandon of GTA or FPS games. Others, like myself, are fully immersed in what R* and Take Two have done here. The pacing is glorious; and what happened to me last night was a perfect example of how this game manages to continually surprise, delight, and keep me on the edge of sleep deprivation despite all efforts to put the controller down at a reasonable hour. Riding down out of the mountains last night after finishing up the third leg of I was heading south out of the snow covered peaks towards Lake Isabella, girding myself for the long, arduous (and somewhat boring) ride back to Valentine, when heavy fog rolled in (taking a moment aside here to acknowledge the amazing job done with the randomized weather patterns in this game--absolutely phenomenal). I was trotting along with a newer horse that I was leveling up to sell off to the farrier, when a large, fleeting shadow flickered off to my left. Still needing perfect elk pelts and having seen a few wandering about in the area, I paused momentarily to draw my rifle when I saw her, the elusive Having not actively sought her out before, I was stunned. Like a ghost in the mist, she appeared and dashed off into the vapor--I quickly dismounted and pursued on foot (again, the tooltips here did an excellent job guiding me through the process). Continually, my exuberance got the best of me and I plunged ahead in the deep snow, regardless of the potential of scaring her off yet again. Finally, after several missteps and repeated spooks, I settled into a slow rhythm and made my way ever so closer to her. And then I mounted. A minor gripe is that the experience of taming the horse is poorly explained in the tooltips, and should have been better worded for clarity. Having not had to previously tame a horse in the game, the experience was incredibly frustrating and defeating as she bucked me off and tore into the trees with wild abandon (if there's one criticism about the experience, it's that they probably should have had this be a side job or quest somewhat early in the game--to break horses for the farrier in Valentine for money). Down, but not defeated, I pursued her. Two more times I got close enough to mount before she took off as I prepared to try and mount again. I was thirty minutes in--over a day had passed in-game tracking this elusive creature by foot, being taunted and teased the whole way, but I would not be dissuaded. I was in it to win it, no matter how long it took. Finally, I had a revelation--instead of waiting for the tooltip to tell me when to attempt a mount, I was going to just "go for it". I approached slowly and cautiously (yet again, for what seemed like the tenth or eleventh time), and as I got within reach, as she reared up and prepared to take off, I leaped and was met with success! Throwing caution to the wind I trusted my gut and rode out the maelstrom as she fought to be free of me--for what seemed to be an eternity, I was locked in a contest of wills; me, or this wild, untamed horse. And in a flash, it was over. She settled into an amicable trot as we continued to bond back down the mountain to where I had left my other horse cold, tired, and alone for two days (I felt a little guilty about that part of it, because now that horse was "old and busted"--unlikely to be ridden again, and my recen acquisition was "the new hotness") . Forty-five minutes of effort culminated in the capture of this beautiful, elusive creature. It was exhilarating. A purely random encounter that I was unprepared for turned into the most engaging and rewarding experience I've had in the game after almost three weeks of playing on a daily basis. An experience that was more fulfilling than ENTIRE GAMES by other studios and publishers--curiously enough, an event devoid of violence or mayhem (in a game stuffed full of it), which in and of itself is a testament to the design of the game and the level of thought and detail that underpin the many and varied systems on display. Oh, and as an added bonus, on my way back to Valentine, I also encountered As if the day couldn't get any better. Once I returned to Valentine, I immediately rode to the stables to sell my "old and busted" horse, and rechristen my newest acquisition "Ghost". After all, I've always wanted to be a "Ghost Rider". TL: DR: Epilogue to the story. After handling the horse issue, I rode to the Trapper to sell off the Legendary Hide I had acquired on my journey. As I closed in, the Stranger Mission popped up on my radar. I had the benefit of having some foliage between us, so I approached them from behind. When I got close enough, i just listened to them for a bit. What happened next was nothing short of high comedy as I also remembered to capture the video of this, so once I have the time later, I'll trim it down and upload it, because it was damn hilarious! Edit:

  47. I have arrived to participate. There are things that I like. I aim to talk about them. There are things that I don't like. I probably won't talk about those. I enjoy the occasional video game, time spent with a terrible movie, and the company of one or more fellow humans. I had a joke for this, but I forgot it, and typed this sentence, instead. I have been introduced. Here's a picture: It's probably irrelevant in the context of this post. ....or IS IT?
