Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Trailer/ Recommended Specs Analysis!
Volt posted a topic in Red Dead Online
Saw this neat little tech breakdown analysis video by Digital Foundry. -
So who here is getting the PC version of the game?
Volt replied to KVNknowsbest's topic in Red Dead Online
I pre-purchased it through R*'s launcher the other day. I got Bully and LA Noire free with it too. Partly due to how impressed I was with the PC version of GTAV. Also I feel I'd enjoy doing a new play through of the game. And I feel I could play better with K+M in multiplayer than using the PS4 controller. -
I don't recall seeing anything official with that. I think I have seen 3rd party controllers at Fry's that look like a PS4 controller, for use on the PC. Here is a guide with setting that up. You also need to use a free 3rd party program DS4Windows. https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-use-a-ps4-controller-on-pc/

I'm curious about that too. I booted up GTAV on PC to see how they handled it. I'm playing the standard version. With no mods. If you are using Keyboard + Mouse, then there isn't any auto-aim. If you are using a gamepad (controller), then there can be assisted aim. There are 4 choices; 1 - Free Aim 2 - Free Aim - Assisted 3 - Assisted Aim - Partial 4 - Assisted Aim - Full <--- this seems to work like RD2 does on the PS4 with controller. If your target is in your front arc, then hitting L2 will snap your aim over the body. Flicking the controller slightly up, will have it aiming at the head. Assisted Aim - Full is also called lock on mode. You also get a warning message that when you play online, it will match you with other players that have this enabled. Furthermore, you may be at a disadvantage against other players if you are using K+M with this mode enabled.

Damn that looks good.

Very excited too! Looking forward to the mods!

Are there any Console vs PC screenshot comparisons yet?
Volt replied to shiverz's topic in Red Dead Online
I have not found any direct comparison screen shots either. The closest I found was this YT video posted yesterday. -
It's the Xbox Wireless Controller. Though it's connected with a usb cable. It works fine for me with other games; DarkSouls, Surge, etc. Though I use K+M for FPS games. I personally like the PS4 controller better. It feels a tad bit smaller. And it's easier for me to use the bumper buttons on the PS4 Controller, than the XBox controller. But I think that's from the many hours playing games on the PS4. I have tried using the PS4 controller on the PC. That works. Though the rumble function might not work. BUT, it gets confusing for me to use when all the in game help, and buttons refer to Xbox buttons (A,B,X,Y) while I'm looking at the PS4's buttons (Sqaure, Triangle, Circle, X). Which is horrible for me when I'm learning to play something. So I got a XBOX controller to help with that. I feel old.

It looks like the price is only good for a pre-purchase through R*'s launcher. “All pre-purchases made on the Rockstar Games Launcher also include free upgrades to the Premium Editions of Red Dead Redemption 2, with the Special Edition and Ultimate Edition both discounted by $20 each.” Taken from https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/1188627/Red-Dead-Redemption-2-PC-pre-order-Rockstar-Games-Launcher-bad-news-Steam

On R* PC Launcher there are only 2 choices; $60 for Special Version (normally $80) $80 for Ultimate (normally $100)

I too would imagine they will have full on Controller support. So if you want to play it with a controller, just like you play it on the console with a controller, then you should be able to. I can't see why they would not. The PC version of GTA5 was fantastic. You could use both K+M and Controller. I would use the K+M when I was on foot, and/or shooting. Then pick up my XBONE Controller for driving my car. It worked seamlessly and on the fly. So I would bet it will be the same with RDR2. Though I never tired using the both simultaneously. Just one at a time.

I'm kinda of interested in this game too. But holding off until I hear more about. I also have the high quality problem of then needing to make time to play it. Too many games, not enough time.

How many hours have you sunk into story mode?
Volt replied to Foxtrot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I'd be curious to know for me on my PS4. I don't think there is an easy way to check. Unlike say a Steam game. Though with Steam, it's the total time a game has been played on a given account. As in how long it's been on. For some PS4 games I think it will say how much time has been played on that save file. -
Such a fantastic single player game! Coincidently, I finished it on Mother's Day last year. I played it on Give Me a Challenge difficulty setting, and it sure was! It felt like half my time was reloading checkpoints after getting killed in tough fights. Been wanting to try it again on the hardest setting, Give Me God of War mode just to see how far I can get.

Do cheat codes ruin the game experience?
Volt replied to plankspanker's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I had thought about that too when I first started playing RDR2. I was aware of there were cheat codes you could use. But that they would disable earning any achievements. I was also concerned it might make the game boring, or make me feel unsatisfied. So I've never used them for the game. The game gets challenging at certain points. But it's never too difficult to figure things out and get through it. Though I might try them out on a 2nd playthrough, or on another account, just for the heck of it. However, there was another game Darkest Dungeon I was playing last year. Around midway or 2/3rds through, it got super frustratingly tough. Like, throw my computer out the window tough. I did use the copy save game exploit to safeguard against losing my party. So that was a case where cheating helped make me enjoy a game that was too difficult for me. I do wonder if I might be able to beat it without doing that. -
I had this happened recently when playing through the Epilogue Chapter 1. I thought it might be a bug. For it had not happened before. But it was making periodic autosaves as I completed the various missions. You can check when the last time the game autosaved by going to the Load Saved Game section and looking at the time/date stamp for your autosave file. If I had to quit out while going through Epilogue Chapter 1, it only meant losing the last few minutes of progress. Whew! I assume this was happening to me for it was late, and I was always in the middle of one of the missions.

Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Leak Shows Graphics Menu
Volt replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I'd bet there will be a PC version of RDR2. But it could be a year or so before we get it. I'm going off of how GTA5 came out on consoles, was very successful. Then about a year or so later it came to PC. This video could be real. And it could also be fake. A competent Photoshop/AfterEffects/Premiere user could have faked it. As someone who uses those programs, it can be fun to do stuff like that for the challenge and bragging rights. -
Apple ][+ was my first computer as a kid. I think a week later Apple released the Apple ][e. Commodore 128 Amiga 2000. I think it came with an extra 2MB or RAM! IBM 386 or 486, I can't remember which. I think that was a FAST 33mHZ.. I sort of remember getting a SoundBlaster Card for it for better sound and music in games. A SNES around that time. Pentium @ 90mhz. Later I upgraded the processor to 166mhz. Thanks, Fry's. A N64 around that time. Several more PCs that I forget. Got to do some home LAN gaming around this time. PS1, then PS2, and a Dreamcast around this time. An Alienware with 2 GTX 6800s in SLI mode. SLI was new. This was right before dual core PCs came out for the public. Some dual-core PC. A PS4 - I got this so I could play the Bloodborne exclusive. I upgraded it to a 1 TB SSD. Cyberpower PC I got in Nov 2014. I forget the processor speed, but I think it's around 4~4.5 gHz. 32 GB Ram, GTX1080 w/ 8GB Ram, 3.5 TB SSD (3 SSDs) + 2 TB HD, 3440x1440 100mhz monitor. Been gradually upgrading it with a new Video card, SSDs, and Monitor. A PS4 Pro. I swapped in my PS4's SSD on this. The 2 PS4s are set up at home and fun for multiplayer gaming with a buddy. I almost got an XBOX-X recently. It could be fun to play MP with friends, and it might be useful to have a 4k Blue Ray player, on my 4K TV. I've been itching to get a new gaming PC. For that could be fun for doing home LAN gaming again. But will have to wait to see how 2019 goes workwise before doing that.

I like using the Double Action Revolver for my single player game.
-
I might have done this a little bit when RDO went live. On opening night, I did want to check out how PVP worked. So I randomly picked someone in Rhodes and tried to kill them repeatedly several times. Nothing personal. Nor was I verbally taunting them in voice chat, or in messages. We ended killing each other several times over. He had a buddy or two help him out. As well as some other random people got in on the action. This lasted maybe 10 minutes before both of us went our separate ways. If there was some tangible reward, then I might want to do this more. But, there doesn't seem to be any. Plus you expend ammo, and consumables, in this pursuit.

I've read you can also switch your honor/dishonor by visiting certain NPCS and buying it.
-
I enjoy replaying certain games. Soulsborne games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne) are one of my favorites to do this in. I'll try out a different build. That's with picking different stats, weapons, and armor. Or I'll try a self-imposed challenge. Like, see how far I can progress on a Friday night. Or see how quickly I can beat the game. I'm nearly done with my playthrough. I've been mostly playing a good person, doing honorable deeds. I maxed out my honor on the good side and got a trophy for that. I If I do a second playthrough, then I'd probably try being a bad outlaw. Doing dishonorable things. It might be an interesting challenge to do a no manual saves play-through. I'd use autosaves though.

Check the connections. Sometimes unplugging, and plugging back in, can help these types of issues. If you have different headphones, you could try them out. That will help narrow down what's causing it.

I had this happen to. But it was from doing the bandit challenge, and choosing Valentine. I got in a scuffle with the gun shop owner. He would be someone to pull a gun on me while I was robbing him, huh? But he lived. I liked how the game remembered things when I came back later to buy something.
