  1. I'm using Song Gold Wireless headset for playing on my PS4 and PS4PRO. https://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStation-Wireless-Headset-Surround/dp/B079YL9F5T They cost about $100. I got my first pair soon after getting a PS4 in 2015 and needing to speak for voice chat. I also use and still use Senheisser HD280 headphones (about $100 I think) for gaming on PC and PS4. Though that has no mic. Sometime last year, one of the headphone mounts broke on my Gold. I was able to duct tape it to reattach. But it doesn't fit as well as it once did. I got the Sony Platinum Wireless headset, for it has a bit better specs. But didn't like how it fit my large skull. Too much clamping force on my ears. And returned it the next day and got another Sony Gold Wireless Headset. This also has a very hand CHAT/SOUND button on the side. To be able to adjust the voice chat and game sound on the fly without having to go to any in game menu. Just tap tap tap, to balance the volume between the two Really handy when people in voice chat are too loud or annoying, but you still want to be in voice chat. They also work on my PC. But the CHAT/SOUND buttons don't do anything on PC. The Gold has a mute button on headset. For PC gaming I use Sennheiser GSP 600 headset. It's wired. It's closed, like the HD280s But holy smokes I love how they sound. This is now my favorite headset to use while gaming on PC. I have yet to try connecting them to my PS4. You can mute these my lifting up the microphone, rotate it upward.
  2. I hope for the best. But plan for a character wipe when RDO beta is over.
  3. This is for informational purposes. I saw this money making scheme exploit on YT today for RDO. You go to Valentine and kill and skin the pigs in the pigpens. Then take that loot; 1 carcass, 4 pelts, meats, etc, to the nearby butcher. The pigs will respawn. Repeat your routine. This can be good for the travel distance is low. Low risk, high reward. $22 earned in less than 5 minutes. His best run was around $33 in 4 minutes. Poster speculates that R* will fix this. Perhaps by changing the respawn timer. I wonder if R* made the prices on everything so expensive, to help lure out money exploits? P.S. He does a good Dutch impression. P.P.S. There is a spoiler in the video at the 10:58-11:10 where you hear on the audio track a mention to I had heard about that and seen evidence of this in game. But haven't fully checked it out yet. So if you watch the video, just mute it for those 12 seconds to avoid that spoiler.
  4. I've encountered one. It appeared at night, on top of a house in the woods. I think I saw it fly in and land. Noticed it due to how big it was. I think this was by I was able to kill it. And I think I got some feathers from it. This has only happened once for me.
  5. Good question. My biggest caution is to anyone who has yet to play it, is to plan for all your character progress in RDO Beta to get wiped before it goes live. If one is okay with that, then check it out. The best thing I've learned form playing RDO, is that I really need to get my controller settings configured properly. In the sense of being able to play competitively with other people. For the single player experience, I used the default settings. That worked fine for me in single player mode. They do not work well against other people shooting at me. Most notably people seemed to be able to turn and aim faster and better that I can using the default settings. As of last night, I've been tinkering with the settings to find what works for me. And trying to find something I can set and use in both single player and RDO. RDO shows great promise. I'm really excited about the prospects. But there are also some potentially unfun things occurring. Hopefully R* will figure it out and deliver the fun.
  6. Me too. This was a pretty neat moment in the game. I came to this gallery during one of the side/character "white" missions.
  7. Whoa Nelly! I just had a close call. This afternoon I spent a couple hours online and in single player mode. I got stuck in a mission with getting glitched into some barrels where you get dropped off. I was able to start combat off by shooting into the air. But could not shoot anything else. Hindsight as I write this : next time I'll try dynamiting myself to force a mission fail and checkpoint restart. So I got impatient waiting for my allies to die, and decided to force quit out and restart the game and use the autosave. The timestamp was only 6 minutes ago. While my last autosave was from late last night, I then watched the game forever loading at 90%. D'oh! It would not progress past that number. I forced quit out again. Started Online mode. Then was able to choose a load file, and picked that auto save. Save result. I did see this workaround https://www.gamerevolution.com/guides/463375-red-dead-redemption-2-stuck-90-percent-fix Thankfully it worked! And only lost like a few minutes of progress. What's extra tough with this, is most of the screen is black while you are doing the steps described. You can see the bottom right section of the screen. So it feels like your doing this nearly blindfolded. But it works. The above article does the steps from this R* Support file: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360011926793/Continuous-loading-screen-when-selecting-Story-in-Red-Dead-Redemption-2 Continuous loading screen when selecting Story in Red Dead Redemption 2 Created November 8, 2018Updated November 19, 2018 Print Share Question: What can I do if the loading screen appears but the game doesn't load after selecting Story in Red Dead Redemption 2? Answer: This can occur if the game did not save correctly. The following steps walk through how to save the game, which should resolve the issue: Launch Red Dead Redemption 2 Select Story from the main menu Wait three minutes for the game to load Press Options on PlayStation / Menu on Xbox Press Down on the D-pad 4 times Press X on PlayStation / A on Xbox Select Save Select a Save slot Press X on PlayStation / A on Xbox to confirm Wait one minute for the game to save Press Options on PlayStation / Menu on Xbox Press Down on the D-pad 4 times Press X on PlayStation / A on Xbox Press right on the D-pad once Press X on PlayStation / A on Xbox twice A prompt should appear asking you to confirm that you wish to load the saved game Confirm that you wish to load the saved game After a few minutes, the game should load and you should be able to play normally Note: If the prompt asking to confirm the loading of a saved game does not appear (Step 16 above), press Circle on PlayStation / B on Xbox several times and repeat from Step 11.
  8. Me as well. This occurred at 2 different Stranger Mission NPCs. I went to a 3rd one, ready to give up if it happened again. But it worked as normal. I did not think about reloading free roam mode. I'll try that next time it happens. Thanks for that suggestion.
  9. Currently, there appear to be no rewards for killing other players like this in free roam mode. Other than bragging rights. And maybe you can earn experience points in this situation. But I'm not sure. In Showdown Event series you do get rewards for killing other players. You might get rewards if a mission has you fight other players. I'm not sure if you can loot people in those modes or not. This article talks about Parleys and Fueds. Which says it gets triggered after killing the same person, or you get killed by the same person, after the 4th time. https://www.polygon.com/red-dead-online-guide/2018/11/27/18115026/rdr2-parley-feud-griefing I've noticed that too, about horses. It's the Beta. So things could change when final version goes live.
  10. PSA Make a backup of your game's save files; either to Cloud or USB. Just in case something bad happens to your PS4/PS4's HD.
  11. That thing is terrible. I gave up on it after using it for day.
  12. I have the PS4 Gold Wireless Headset. It's great! It has a really neat feature that allows you to balance the chat voice in relation to the game sound. I use this all the time. You do this by pressing on either the SOUND or CHAT button. I use my left hand, to access the left side of the headset on my head. Hitting the CHAT button increase's the voice chat volume in relation to the rest of your game's sound. Hitting the SOUND button increases your game's volume in relation to voice chat. It will actively raise one volume while lowering the other. This is independent of what you have the volumes set to in your game's setting. It's just affecting the volume coming out of your headset. If you repeatedly press the CHAT volume, it will eventually make it so you can only hear voice chat, and not hear any game sound. Likewise, if you repeatedly hit the SOUND button, it will make it so you can only hear game sound, and can't hear any voice chat. So in your example above, try hitting the CHAT button a few times to make voice chat louder in relation to your game sound. If it decreases game sound too much, then hit the SOUND button until it's balanced to your liking. During my playtime, I may have to make additional adjustments as other people join the game's voice chat. They are talking too loud, or too quiet, or have a bad setup, etc. This is really handy to use on the fly, especially if someone is too loud in voice chat. But I don't want to mute them. And I can't pause the action. Like during a multiplayer game. One caveat: This works for games where you are using it's in game voice chat. I can't recall if I used this during a PS4's party chat function. PS4's party chat function is where you set up a chat lobby outside of a game. Like you turn your PS4 on, start a Party Chat, before you are playing any game. I would assume the SOUND/CHAT buttons work as described above in a PARTY CHAT. But I don't know for sure.
  13. I've only played around 3-4 hrs of Online play over the last 2 nights. I've done a few missions. Mostly been playing the Showdown series matches. The cost of items is so much more expensive when compared to the single player game prices. I have less than 1 unit of gold, and around $50. It will be grindy to afford better gear doing side missions like this. Maybe there is a better way to earn money? You can mute individual players. Tap left directional (PS4) and select Players. Or set voice chat options to to hear; Everyone, Friends Only, Crew Only, and Posse Only. Tap left directional and navigate down from Players to Online to access those options.
  14. Yes you can. After hitting Left arrow on Contoller (PS4), then scroll down from PLAYERS to ONLINE. There you can switch voice chat to; Everyone, Friends Only, Crew Only, Posse Only.
  15. Hi, I had been wondering how to do this. I found this little guide. Link with pics: https://www.pwrdown.com/gaming/red-dead-redemption-2-online-how-to-mute-other-players/
  16. That's one of the first things I tried online last night. I was doing the very first solo mission online, and was able to capture a wild one. But wasn't able to figure out what to do with it next. I was able to ride it to the mission's destination. Dismounted, got in a gun fight. Then lost my horse. But "Old Nag" came back to me after whistling for it. It could be a bug. Or maybe you have to upgrade your horse slots at the stable? I think you start with just 1 horse slot in Online mode. Perhaps if you upgrade that to 2+ horse slots, then you can interact with additional horses?
  17. Someone else on these forums has a solution for this. This was a post from a couple weeks ago. If you think this could be an issue for you, then do a manual save prior to starting a particular mission. If you don't get gold, then reload your save. Then that way you get to redo the mission with the better loadout. I don't do this. I don't think it's that big of an issue. But, I only have a couple Golds for story missions I've completed. I'm partway through Chapter 4. But if the above save/load mechanic improves one's enjoyment of their game, then saddle up and go for it.
  18. http://time.com/4913247/game-of-thrones-season-8-premiere-date/ I imagine they'll have the 2nd half of this come out later in 2019, or pushed to early 2020.
  19. You can replay any story mission, you've already completed. You can do this to get a higher medal ranking for a mission. So, if your save file did hose you on this mission, you can still replay it. Though, when you replay a mission it gives you a reduced loadout. I've done this a few times in an attempt to get a gold ranking. The reduced loadout won't be as good as your normal loadout. But still seems doable. When you initiate this process, the game creates a restore point just prior to the start of re-doing a mission. When you finish your replay of the mission, it update your ranking in that mission if you do better. And then pop you back to your restore point. And yes, as @Kormath said above, it's your in-game time.
  20. I seemed to get some really fugly characters by using the simple preselects. One with some really bad acne on their neck. You can fine-tune various features on your face; nose, eye, chin, ear, etc. I tried to make my "McCree" character look like McCree from Overwatch. But wasn't able to get the right facial hair, and head hair.
  21. Hmmm ....perhaps I have what it takes to become the Baked Beans Baron of RDO?!
  22. Ah, okay. Now that I think of it, maybe it has to do with what time it is in your game? I had something similar happen Saint Denis. I had a marker on the map to check out a stragner. It was a woman who asks for a donation to help with something. It was approaching sundown in the game. I started off the interaction with this NPC. I was waiting for her dial to finish to use the action to give her $20. She finsihed her dial, but then I could not interact with her any further. And her icon on the map went away. The only thing that had changed was it was now becoming night. I ended up reloading things and made a B line to her to complete things before it got too late in the day. For you, maybe try coming back at a different time?
  23. My experience? It was fun, fast, and clumsy at times. Overall I had fun with the couple hours I played last night. I think I made it to rank 4 or 5 last night. Playing the single player game, up to Chapter 4, helped me with knowing the various game mechanics. It also helped a lot with traveling through familiar areas and maps. Starting off in Blackwater I was in an unfamiliar area. After completing that first group mission of horse stealing, it wasn't obvious to me what I could do next. I decided to check out the Showdown Series Events and queued up for that (I think that's what it's called). I was pretty fast with throwing me into a match. There were some FFA fights, team fights, and team capture control points. I forgot about team colors and wandered too close to the other team and got killed. Respawn timers are fast, aren't they? In those matches, it seemed that you could gather better weapons then what you start with. But if you died, then you'd start back at square one. I'm still using the default control scheme. So it feels like a mini-game of using the snap and aim assist to find targets. Then flicking up to target the head. I was able to sometimes gets headshots which usually killed the player. And other times I wasn't able to get the head, and instead did body shots. Seemed like there is some strategy with what weapons to use. For there were times when I'd shoot, I was reloading, the other person was shooting at me. I'd die. I think I was earning experience the whole time during this. I then went out of this mode and the game put me in Rhodes. I saw what looked like ghosts or players inside one of the gun shops. When they came out of the gun shop they looked normal. I think the gun shop is a temporary safe place. I was goofing around and headshot some random player. They died. That did not cause anything bad to happen to me in regards to Crime reported/witness type of thing to occur. A couple other players came around and they then shot me and killed me. I respwaned quickly and came back and we spent like 5 minutes shooting and killing each other. I noticed the players that I shot, or that shot me, became red targets on the overhead map and radar. Eventually, they rode out of town on their horses. This experience reminded me a bit of playing Ultima Online when it first came out. In that, anyone could be attacked. Or not be attacked. Though in my above interactions there seemed to be no rewards for behaving like this. The quick respawning nearby also didn't really seem to be a downside. I'm not sure if the bounty system was working as intended. I did later somehow got in a gunfight with computer NPCs and when I got killed by them I did lose a few dollars upon respawning. At the beginning of my online session, there was an area for voice chat. That could be toggled between; All players, Possee only, group only ( I think that is what it was called), and none. Later on, I could not find that section to change it. So I forget where it was. I did a coach mission, where I had to drive a stagecoach from Rhodes to Emerald. Soon after the mission started a message appeared saying my coach could be attacked by other players. I didn't run into any other players during this quick mission. But I did run into a few groups of enemy NPCs. I didn't make that much for this quick mission. I ran into some other player who was emoting at me. A brief gunfight broke out. I think I accidentally started it. With me dying. And I could hear the other player reacting surprised. Including his smoke detector beeping in the background needing a new battery change. The audio quality of his voice wasn't too great. On the player list on the left of the screen, you can select a players name, and view their profile. I imagine one might get messages from other players. Which could either be salty or friendly? Depending on how you play, one might need to change their PS4's privacy settings to not get messages from randoms. As I posted above, if you want to avoid a certain player in your game world (or instance), then you should change up what online mode you are in and then come back to where you want to be, to have the game respawn a different set of players in your game world. I wonder if fast traveling to another state, and back, would do the same? I logged out for the night, I did notice there were some yellow colored story missions on the map I could do. This was not the case at the beginning of my online game session. I also plan on having the beta wipe my online character's progress, to avoid any disappointment with having to level up my character all over again when it goes out of beta. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Looking at the player names on the map made me think those were their PSN handles. So what's the point of naming your character? Perhaps there is an option to show player account names vs player character names? Bloodborne and some other souls games have this option. I'm looking forward to playing more tonight!
  24. I was concerned about that too, when I was playing RDO last night. I experimented with switching Online modes, to try to jump to another instance to be with other players. That seemed to work. I wonder if selecting FREE ROAM to another state would reset the players you are playing with too? I'll have to try that tonight. I'd imagine that this will do the same thing as closing down the game, and restarting it. For the game seems to randomly put you with other players. I've also noticed in Free Roam mode, that players seem to join, or leave, similar to an Overwatch Quick Play match. Where the match just keeps going on and on.
  25. I'll use the time/date stamp to help figure out which save file is which. This is while looking at it in game at the load/save screen. The game will automatically assign a name to it. It seems to usually be for the mission I just completed. I think there is just 1 autosave file, that gets updated over and over again. I have sometimes loaded the wrong file, if I forget which is which. For I'll have multiple saves with the same mission name.
