Don't know which format you're on. I'm on Xbox One X. Just saw a post on FB saying that the spawns are now 'fixed for Xbox but not for PC or PS4'. No idea whether there's anything in it, but is might explain it and suggests that Rockstar are at least working on it in the background. I certainly got a good range of animals over the weekend and last night. I even managed to fulfil the daily challenge 'seven medium carcasses for Cripps' on Saturday. Would have been a pipe dream last time I logged on before this weekend. And I know, 800 gold bars! I checked and I'm just over 200 and I thought that was good!!! Hats off to @James Hickok_1837!!

Interesting, and sorry to hear that - I had a few player encounters, too. Do't know your platform - I'm on Xbox. I currently find this forum less stable than the game!! I'm hoping for Mexico. My Camp was suddenly stable yesterday, was wonderful. My streak is at 3/7! I even levelled up last night. In terms of the boredom, I have found myself using the on call feature, helping other players with missions. Breaks things up nicely. Just as well, as my one remaining glitch is that I can no longer replay old story missions - all I can get to is the last two moonshiner missions. So via on call is my only route to old missions. Last night we robbed the bank in St Denis. Did it all with a high roller revolver. Lovely!

Yes agreed - I actually prefer the current animal spawn balance, feels more realistic.

Animal levels were certainly great for me over the weekend. I don't mind having to invest some time in hunting, as long as I think that there's something out there to hunt. And there was! It was like the good old days on both Saturday and Sunday. A great antidote to real life.

Interesting that you should say that. I started playing online just under a year ago, have a lot of gold and cash, have maxed the four roles, am level 153 overall. I had my daily streak up to 68 but then let that drop, as like you I was disillusioned with the constant glitches. However, on Saturday night I logged in to have a quick look around, and my camp was stable. So I did a daily challenge, then chanced my hand and tried a moonshine delivery. It worked! I then did two more daily challenges, had a shootout with a couple of other players in Valentine, then went to do some hunting. There were animals everywhere! I filled Cripps up, and made a local delivery. Everything was working again. I ran in a second moonshine delivery and logged off. It was so much fun that I tried again last night, and it worked again. I'll be on again this evening. So my daily streak is at 2/7, but I have lots of gold and cash from my previous regular play, and if it continues as it was over the weekend for my (on Xbox) then I will be back playing the game regularly. It was great to have it back. So do stick with it.

There have been persistent issue with the moonshiner shack and missions. It think that it is a key reason why both the game and this forum are so much quieter than they used to be.

3/10/20 Rank Rewards / Benefits and Ammo Sale
SimonTemplar replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
Yes, this!! I wasn't even in the Beta, and haven't played RDR recently (log in, see if moonshiner and camp are working, log out if they aren't - the last ten or more times I have logged in, I have lasted under two minutes owing to this small test), but I am level 153, with all the roles maxed and I own literally every weapon in the game, have four figures in dollars, forget how much gold but enough for the next few professions, have every moonshine shack, profession and camp upgrade possible (including stuff I don't use), and six top horses. So all I reallty want is two things: stability for the content we currently have, and the addition of some more content (even just opening up Mexico and the prison island would keep me happy for months). I'm about the least fussy person out there, but these releases are... literally irrelevant to me. One time in Valentine I even tried to buy one of every colour of every item of clothing, just to see how much I'd get before I ran out of cash. IIRC I got all the outfits, all the vests, all the trousers and all of the coats. So a vouchers does nothing for me. And I'm not that high level and didn't do Beta. Can only imagine how frustrating it must be for you old timers who have double my rank or more! Thank you for posting though, @Kean_1 I wait for the day when you can post that they have opened up Mexico! -
I find it very relaxing to pitch up in Big Valley, there still seem to be a good number of deer up there. Thing is I do get a fair few griefers coming through - there's a gang hideout and a number of collectibles littered around that area, so it isn't as out of the way as it first appears.

Yes, the top Norfolk Roadster ($950 IIRC, although I bought mine with one of the endless discount coupons they're offering) is my current favourite horse. Fully bonded it's amazing. Looks nice, too. Completely agree with you on daily challenges - the bar is just gold waiting to be collected when it comes to daily challenges. It's all I use mine for, but I'm often to be found in there, earning gold by dancing alone or playing piano or whatever. It's a funny old life.

Yes completely agree. Perhaps Cripps should be able to craft stuff from pelts we gather. Or even could we raid one another's camps and steal supplies? Both of those might make it more immersive. In terms of the moonshining, perhaps we could steal materials from one another, or sabotage one another's stills or supply runs. With lots of us in a crowded market it makes sense that some of us take the odd pop at one another. Agree with you though, love the moonshiner role.
-
I love the moonshiner role, too (although sadly it is wildly glitchy on Xbox for me - have hope that they're working on it behind the scenes). One thing I thought is that they could have regular customers, we could deliver to some of the established saloons in the existing towns. We already sometimes help take a drunk patron home. There could be scope for us to have wider interaction with the saloon owners. Also maybe the revenue agents who man the checkpoints could perhaps form separate posses, hunt down known bootleggers. I have made a fortune evading their taxes - it would be kind of fun if occasionally I could be minding my own business elsewhere, doing something unrelated, and suddenly the revenue agents turn up with a warrant for my arrest. Third angle - how about mixing player bounties in with my idea, above. If some of us make a lot of coin from moonshining, let the revenue agents place a bounty on us and that could trigger not only revenue agent bounty hunters but also player bounties? So there you go, there are my three. Glad you're back to the game.

Says it all when we master hunters are reduced to shooting farm animals to earn a crust! Doubt I could do that to the poor farmer. I'm a gentleman of the West.
-
I'm surprised you didn't simply faint with the shock. I can't find three rabbits, these days 😞
-
Because the game is rigged to have us play as heroes rather than outlaws. You can go on a hour-long killing spree, terrorise the poor folk of your chosen town, and slaughter any law who might come to investigate, but if you make the mistake of feeding your horse an apple on the way out then the game decides you must be one of the good ones and gives you a pass. It is ridiculously hard to maintain negative honour. I play as an honourable character, have the natty suit and everything, but I like the idea of through and through bad eggs wandering around, so it would be great if negative deeds weren't quite so easy to erase from the slate. Literally brushing your horse offsets murder. It's crazy.
-
Yes, it really is. Indeed, it's the main reason that I haven't used my hunting wagon in months. Unless the terrain is marble flat and I can bring it really close, I just don't take the risk. It's literally quicker for me to use my horse, even with the much lower capacity, particularly with fast travel into camp.
-
Lol yes quite - I'm flying an Imperial Clipper in an explorer build, first time I tried docking I took hull damage as mucked up my landing. Have switched back to my near-impregnable Anaconda while I get my eye back in. o7

Yes story mode is a good shout, I'm not done with all the achievements there. Trouble is I have targets ahead of me in Elite, which isn't as good as RDR but is better than no gaming. My wife bought me 'The Hateful Eight' for a recent occasion, though, and I have been westerns through and through since I started on cinema in the 1980s, and love all the old ones, so I am fully committed to this game strategically. I just wish I could persuade myself that the studio cares!

Sad to say that I have given up on the game until the major update, my first proper break ever. Just couldn't be bothered with the animal/camp/moonshine glitches. They seem now to be in a groove of cycling their player numbers - giving bonuses to new players, accepting tht most of them will leave but relying on getting new blood in. It's like a mortgage lender offering better rates to new customers - not fair, and in the long term a self-defeating business practice. I just check in on the forum occasionally to gauge whether to return. We're not there, yet. Sad, as if the content they currently offer just worked I'd be delighted with the game and sample no other. As it is, it's my most disappointing gaming experience.
-
I did both outlaw passes and loved loads of the free stuff I unlocked with them. Yes, I made my gold back but that was secondary. If you play enough to make it work then you'll get rich in due course anyway. If you don't play enough to make it back then you don't need the gold anyway. But as @Herta47 said, they add to the fun and bring some cool stuff.

About one in four of my collector maps are currently leading me to blank locations - there's the yellow search area, but no collectible. I only use them for dailies, but still - it's annoying. Little stuff like that has halved my game time since Christmas. Even let my dailies run lapse, was over 90. Just don't have the patience at the moment for all the glitches. Life's too short!
-
I agree with you about multiverse Cripps.. In terms of the money, I thought that, but then it hits a point with the professions where suddenly you have money for everything and nothing to buy. I'm only level 150, but since around level 90 I have had all the weapons I want, customised how I want them, all of the Camp/shack unlockables, and now I have all the horses I could want, a terrific range of clothes, and still have a four figure cash bank and 100 gold bars (and I dropped my daily challenge streak recently owing to the bugs). Really, for me it was the collector role which undid the game economy. It ranked me up so quickly and made me so rich that money soon became irrelevant, its really too powerful. So don't worry about the Camp unlocks. I agree with your hesitations surrounding lock box access, but it would be great if the Camps were more individual.
-
What else can you do? You can wash your face. That's how you really disrespect another's camp. Seriously, it would be great if we could interact more with each others' camps. Can't even hitch a horse, which seems odd.

Like lots of the thougths in this thread. Maybe they could bring in duelling, separate the great from the good?

Recent increase in player hostility
SimonTemplar replied to Senator Goob's question in Questions & Answers
I don't think that it came across wrong, I just think that your assertion that the game is too easy might be eased by sticking to within game options, and not using things like cheat maps, as anything can pale give sufficient shortcutting. But not knocking your play style or anything, I just found that shortcuts make things less satisfying, in life as well as in gaming. But it's none of my business so just go at it however suits you. -
Recent increase in player hostility
SimonTemplar replied to Senator Goob's question in Questions & Answers
I have noticed this (Xbox One), and wondered whether it is that lots of people got the game for Christmas so are new players? I have been attacked a few times, but all by players under level 15. I'm 145, which while not top of the tree does mean that I have the toys and experience to hold my own. A random passing level 8 rugby tackled me last night in Valentine (I was on foot). I threw him off, knocked him down, then throttled him and got 10xp for an 'execution', which I have never had before. Then a few moments later two other low level players shot at me, blew my hat off (thank you, Never Without One), and legged it. I chased them, found them holed up in a cabin on the ridge above Valentine. Threw a fire bottle, they came out blasting, I gunned them both down with twin navies. So all in all, it was three to me, nil to griefers, and I strutted around like a boss for a good ten minutes afterwards. It'll calm down again. And can be kind of fun. The game is a lot more fun if you don't use the cheat maps, they're why you're bored with the content. I use nothing outside of the game. Take shortcuts, find life boring.
