I never found Gift Of Focus to be anything special. The only card I see as essential is Never Without One, as so many other players love headshotting others, even when just randomly riding past. So NWO has saved my life many times. The other cards I am currently just rotating through so I can get them all up to Level 3.

Pretty off topic sorry but I have this hope that they introduce Mexico, make it basically immune to snow, and then give us a larger playable permanently snowy area up north, perhaps with a snowy town, where it always snows. I fancy being a snowy mountain man, then heading south to Mexico from time to time.

Does anybody say "good game" to the winner in a free roam event?
SimonTemplar replied to crh2018's topic in Red Dead Online
I do but I expect we’re in the minority. That’s online life! -
You guys are making me do an inventory of my kit! The game is very stable for me at the moment, daily streak back up to 20-something, but one odd glitch is that my weapons keep reappearing on my horse after I have stashed them in my weapons locker. So I’m constantly carrying around everything I have. I haven’t spotted anything missing, but it seems as though there’s a general issue surrounding kit at the moment.

Not quite the same but similar (and caused some embarrassment!). I joined a posse earlier in the week, we did some bounty hunting. I'm level 161, actually a bit higher than the other guys in the posse, so I guess they thought I should know what I'm doing. We had to apprehend three bounty targets, I had one on the back of my horse. Riding back to the sheriff's office, the target got off the back of my horse. Hadn't happened to me in months so threw me. I retied him, rode on, then was ambushed by several of his pals, in the firefight he got off my horse again and actually escaped, so we failed the mission. I messaged an apology. We all failed because of me - shameful (although they were very nice about it, while presumably quietly thinking I'm a clown). Anyway, the relevance to your post - my reinforced lasso had gone missing from my inventory, despite having been bought months ago. So I was back to the standard one, which does break and with which I wouldn't bother with bounty hunting. It was gone for two days, but then last night magically reappeared, without me having bought it again. So yes I have had one thing disappear and it came back on its own. Sorry about your Nazar accessories but worth giving it a day or two.

That's actually a good point. When it snows in RDR, it really snows. Everywhere!

I really liked the snow, found the howling wind atmospheric. I wouldn't want it all the time but the occasional snow day suits me just fine. Hopefully they will open up Mexico in the next big update and then maybe anyone who doesn't like snow could escape down there for a while.

Cool thanks I play a fair bit at weekends so will see if you're on when I'm next on.

*Camps* (Discussions of Issues Since Summer Update)
SimonTemplar replied to zosma2000's topic in Troubleshooting
It's interesting, though - I had assumed that we'd struggle with the servers owing to people being at home more with the various lockdowns (we have been here for ten days in isolation), but actually the game has been better for me this past fortnight than it has been in months. I was in a posse again last night, plus some solo, we did bounty hunting, then I ran in both moonshine and trading, made over $1000 last night, and all of it glitch free (including my Camp). So it's the opposite of what I expected. I'll take it, but I don't understand it. Really sorry to hear that you're having such issues. (Love The Netherlands btw - I'm a Brit but for years did a lot of work in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Zwolle. Love that country, and the people!) -

Sorry to hear that - inconsistent issues are the toughest to take. I'm only on in evenings, maybe time of day affects it. -
Afternoon, Are you in the US? I'm guessing you aren't UK from the time of your post, but I'm a 45 year-old Xbox One player looking for a posse. I'm UK timezone, though, and with four kid am generally on in evenings rather than daytimes.

*Camps* (Discussions of Issues Since Summer Update)
SimonTemplar replied to zosma2000's topic in Troubleshooting
It's weirdly inconsistent at the moment. My Camp is about the most stable thing in the game for me right now, I haven't done this much hunting in months. So it might be that when R* go to replicate the issue it seems better for them than it is for some of the players. Don't get why these issues are so mixed across the same platform. I haven't had any issues with my Camp in three weeks, my daily streak is back up and I'm actually making money at hunting. Is it maybe affected by posses, by leading a posse or something? I either play solo or as a posse member. -

Lol yes I was surprised on ?Monday evening when three of us arrived at your Camp icon and there was no camp there at all!! Crazy and hasn't happened to me in a couple of week. Glitches being intermittent across the same console type can't make them easier to fix (although I am not an apologist for the developers). -
Has 'press charges' changed or has it always been like this?
SimonTemplar replied to SimonTemplar's topic in Red Dead Online
Agreed. I understand defensive and just don't like it. I think the chap just found a workaround effectively - basically the system is too weighted towards avoiding death. Players can mess with one another and the game forgives them as long as no one dies. I need to work on my non-lethal responses (although all I did was punch him and he was dead, which is a bit extreme, lasso from now on I guess). The game didn't mind his headlock, or his shooting at me as he missed. I don't have a any real issue with griefers (and the odd one can be fun, now that I'm tooled up enough to be able to defend myself). It was just the oik pressing charges which irked me!! But thank you for your thoughts. -
Yes the roads are a good shout. Might try my luck down in 'gator country. Thanks for the tip.

SimonTemplar replied to SimonTemplar's topic in Red Dead Online
Sorry, I don't think you're really understanding me. I don't have an issue with griefers (barely happens, and when it does it feels pretty realistic), so don't have a 'problem' as such. I'm not trying to mitigate any issues. And as I said earlier, I don't use defensive mode as I personally don't like the whole invisible thing, I'm certainly not complaining at someone attacking me and understand the dynamic. My question was much more specific - was it normal that he could attack me, I fight back, and he can press charges against me for my defence, but I cannot press charges against him for the original attack, which is what happened here, twice in quick succession. It's fine, and I'll continue playing as I have been, and think that I have my answer on the pressing charges thing (it is blunt tool, tracking death rather than justice, so is what it is). Thank you, all of you. Happy trails! -

SimonTemplar replied to SimonTemplar's topic in Red Dead Online
Fair enough thanks. Still seems crazy that the headlock doesn't give me any protection when I hit him. I didn't draw a weapon, just punched him. Hardly my fault he crumpled like a cheap suit. Seems to me that the only way to avoid having someone press charges is actually to let the griefer kill you!!! -
Yes and the prices aren't guaranteed. Purely anecdotal and likely coincidence, but I have recently moved my shack from Cholla up to Heartlands, just for a change. Down in Cholla I was routinely getting prices over $200. In Heartlands I have only ever managed selling to that Bert chap for a meagre $147, so the bottom has rather dropped out of my operation. It actually matters not a jot to me - I'm like an Old West lottery winner, rich for life from my careers as a Collector and Trader - as I only do moonshining for the xp and the enjoyment. But given I have paid for all of the upgrades etc as a purely financial concern I can't say that Moonshining makes any sense. If I needed the money I'd stop moonshining immediately.

Thanks. I wasn't in defensive mode, checked last night, so I would have been blue to him. The odd thing is that he was able to press charges against me when he attacked me, though, and I wasn't given the option to press charges against him. I was very clearly defending myself - I had to break out of a choke hold before I could hit him at all! -
I suddenly feel very lucky but the game is suddenly working for me across the board. I have my daily streak back up to 9/14 and am loving it. Sorry if that sounds like gloating, it really isn't, just seems that they are working on it in the background so maybe the fixes will spread to others? Other than having no access to the replays of old story missions (I have to use the 'on call' feature), everything is working, including camp and moonshine shack. Phew.

SimonTemplar replied to SimonTemplar's topic in Red Dead Online
I hadn't messed with my mode, I never do, just ride around in whatever it gives me, so would assume I was blue. That was my first player encounter of the session. He was blue also. But my issue is more that I met the threshold for him pressing charges against me purely because I punched a guy who was headlocking me, then again because I returned fire, but neither of his attacks on me gave me the option to press charges against him. So it seems a bit off somewhere. I don't even particularly mind - I don't go around assaulting people, so presumably my status stays pretty calm, and when there's a daily challenge to keep low aggression for a day then I keep passing them even though I don't go on stealth mode or whatever it is. But it seems off that he can attack me, but I can't press charges because I didn't die, but he can press charges against me purely because I defend myself. I can see lots of low level players abusing that. And I don't want to walk around half invisible as it dents immersion. (No idea if I was dark blue or light blue - don't know the difference and don't know how to check!) -
Thank you for posting this. Do you happen to know whether they have removed access to the old story mission replays in bringing this in? I now can't replay old story missions (other than the two latest Moonshiner ones).

Morning all. I'm back playing the game daily (daily streak 5/7, whoop whoop!) as the latest update seems finally to have cleared my glitches. So I'm back to asking smaller, day to day questions rather than railing against the generic unfairness of the universe. I was in Armadillo last night. Visited the Post Office, then rode along the high street to the Sheriff's office, looking for a collectible. I passed a scrawny nag on the way in, so knew that there was a player around, but didn't see them. Then just as I arrived at the Sheriff's office, a player stepped out from between two buildings. He didn't have a weapon drawn, so I tipped my hat. He waved back. I then mosied over to the chest on the veranda along the row from the Sheriff's office, opened it, and then the other player jumped me from behind, got me in a headlock. I broke free (I checked - he was level 25 so guess I'm stronger), turned around and he threw a punch. So we had a scuffle, he went down, no weapons drawn, and I got the 25xp for knocking out another player. Then suddenly it flashes up that he's dead, and I get the prompt that he has pressed charges. Seems a bit rich!! But anyway, I turn and walk towards my horse, planning just to leave (and ditching the collectible idea), but then he has respawned and come steaming back towards me, on foot, shooting at me with a repeater. Bullets ricocheting around me but didn't hit me. So I drew my navy and killed him. Then mounted my horse and rode out. I got a second prompt, telling me that he had pressed charges again, and that my hostility level had risen. Given I never start a fight, and that he tried to kill me not once but twice, how on Earth has he been able to press charges against me twice? The first time I didn't even try to kill him I just hit him back. Not my fault that he picked a fight he couldn't handle. I'd have left him unconscious and left. I couldn't press charges against him (presumably as I didn't die?). But that seems out of whack to me. What do you all think?

Really sorry to hear that, really sucks & not sure I'd want to chance it - quite apart from anything else, I'd be worried that it would delete my character. Crazy that updates don't work for all, as mine is completely fixed and you and I are on the same console. Mine was great again last night and it's like the old days. That's just appalling, sorry.
-
Well that sucks sorry. Was good for me again last night, so I guess different servers or something. More animals but also a real range. Got my daily streak back up to 4/7 ad will be back on again this evening. Sorry to hear that it is still so patchy.
