Will there be an online like GTA V....

Second, I am not convinced there’s quite as much potential in a “Red Dead Online” as there is with GTA Online. Set in the modern day, you can sell players everything from guided missile launchers to motorcycles to tanks to fighter jets to low riders to rooms full of different outfits.

But Red Dead? Set in the Old West, it’s unclear if there’s as much opportunity for diversity in a mode like that. How many different horses can you sell people? How many different revolvers and lever-action rifles? How many damn shades of flannel shirts? While I do think there’s some potential here, there would almost have to be less by default, given the world in question. Not to say it couldn’t be profitable, but I think there are harder limits on what can be offered for sale. Or at least what would be unique enough to be as attractive as GTA Online’s increasingly all-encompassing expansions.

I pulled that bit from this article here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/10/17/why-gta-online-makes-me-a-bit-worried-about-red-dead-redemption-2/#6b98064a1a4b

He's got a few valid points here. Like what if they see that there is not enough money to be made in RDR2 or just not enough things they can offer people to keep the online community alive... Then why bother? I can't say this hasn't crossed my mind before. It seems like it is something worth considering... what if the online is nothing like GTA V?

Valid points and also some touched on in the thread below. I think it's also a pretty materialistic view. There is a TON of activities and events that Rockstar could still include to make Online worthwhile and enjoyable. Yes it will be different from GTAO but people don't want Grand Theft Horse they want Red Dead. If you like racing cars, shooting machine guns etc then Red Dead probably isn't for you. If you want an awesome Western game then it will be. If RDRO is nothing like GTAO then that would be great, I just hope it's good!

I am sure the online will be fine and better than expected but yet not what we expected at all. It is going to be one of those things that some will love it and some will hate it. There will be little room for people to land in the middle. This is assuming they do end up doing it like GTA or completely different from it.

Well it will either be like GTA's online or different. They wont keep the same basics from RDR1, it would be outdated and people would have a massive fit lol

All I know is NEVER RULE ROCKSTAR OUT. They will give us an amazing game.

Yeah I am expecting them to do a great job on this. The games they produce are always getting better. Sure, small issues happen in all games but they did RDR1 so well. I am not scared about this one.

I don't want that to happen for my own sake but I would love to see people's reactions LOL

I am such a horrible troll, I know. It would be hilarious though. Specially from the > 16 group.
