191185 Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Ever since the update installed, when I go to skin an animal, it no longer shows the animation ? He just instantly has the Pelt on his side. Also, if you shoot an animal, and it doesn't die, and you go to kill it, instead of knifing it, it just dies with no animation . Is there a way to turn it back on ?
riptide87 Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I hadn't noticed this but I will be playing again in a bit and see if it happens to me. I think it is best to report this to Rockstar. I mean if it is an issue affecting a lot of us, they will likely fix it or at the least reserve part of the patch.
191185 Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 I was in single player mode, tried it about 5 times. same thing every time. I have not played online yet. .

I didn't think this was about online given the section. I will let you know if it happens to me when I get on later. I am pretty sure the patch was done for me and the skinning was the same. I will double check though.
Rockstar74 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Skinning works just fine. No issues at all. Xbox One X version. Played it for several hours yesterday with new patch. Every animation was there.
hornet66 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Got to agree with Rockstar74,i skinned 2 kills and both had same animation as before patch.Im on ps4 pro so maybe just a glitch/one of them things?
191185 Posted December 2, 2018 Author Posted December 2, 2018 I'm glad to hear that. I am going to play again this afternoon, hopefully everything is fine.
RobJons Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Not happened to me but if i had the option i would prefer to skip the skinning.
Kormath Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Depending on the terrain it will skip the animation. like if you fell a deer next to a tree so Arthur can't get between the tree and the deer, or the ground is too steep, etc.
191185 Posted December 4, 2018 Author Posted December 4, 2018 OK, I tried skinning a deer again. and Arthur cuts his stomach, but then instead of "peeling" the skin off the deer, it just automatically turns into a pelt rolled up and he is holding it on his side. Can anyone confirm when they skin a deer that he still peels the skin off ? Or does he just cut from the neck down through his stomach, and then it turns into a pelp on his side ?

Yes the skinning animation still works. I spent 2 hours last night hunting hides for the Trapper outfits, only time the skinning animation does not work is as mentioned above.
RedDeadAddict Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 On PS4 Pro and can confirm skinning still works. However I did also just kill the Legendary Coyote and it died near the train tracks and it skipped the skinning animation.
jihiro Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 It has to do with terrain and other obstacles. If there is something blocking the back area of the animal youll get the quick skin animation. You can force this to happen by parking your horse right by it. This was a 'hack' from the first game, too.
Foxtrot Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 From what i recall, there’s an option for animations in the settings somewhere. I’m not sure exactly what it does because I don’t mind the time taken to skin the animals.
Volt Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 It was working normally for me in RDO last night. I skinned around 7 animals. In single player, it can be inconsistent. From it taking some time and showing all the animation. To it being practically instant and not showing anything. Usually, it takes some time to do it.
