Potential story detail ?

In the teaser we got to see last October we seen a scene with a train and buffalo, Which seems to be in the Great Plains right out side of black water. When "Americans" first arrived they killed the buffalo to get rid of the native they would often shoot out the window of the train and killing them off. Now back to the story details in red dead redemption they mention that the Pacific union railroad  would burn native camps. If the train seen in the trailer came from there pacific union would be a major location for the next installment of the franchise and if we found the date it had opened we could find out the time period of the next game. Side note the train that we see stored away in the building could very well be the one we seen in the trailer. We all also thought it was a ranch that was burning in the trailer but what if it was a native outpost that the railroad company decided to burn down to get rid of the natives in the area ? Maybe that area was known as Beecher hope then after john had left the gang thought it was a good spot to rebuild.

That is for the Pacific Union Railroad. This is also in DC as well which makes me think we will be slightly more east. Also, I was guessing the game would take place in the 1870's/80's  so I wouldn't be too far off from this.

I was going to search this as well. Glad you pulled it up. That seems like it may be the case. It taking place maybe 10 or 15 years before RDR started.

I am guessing it takes place before John leaves the gang. The voice actor is signed on for the game (or rather was) so that is a bit of a give away that Marston will be in the game. Also this:

John Marston is a former outlaw looking for an all new life in 1911 America. When government agents from the newly-established Federal Bureau threaten his and his family's freedom, Marston is sent across the American West to help uphold the law and to achieve redemption. His job is to kill or capture his former gang members, including his old friends and gang partners such as Bill Williamson and Dutch Van Der Linde. He must do this or his family will pay the ultimate price.

It basically tells us the game starts in 1911. I would guess that RDR2 will take place in 1885 to 1895. Somewhere in there.

When exactly did he leave the gang? When Jack was on the way? I think the game started with him being about 11 or something so let us just assume he left in 1900 or 1899. I would then guess this game would take place 10 years before that so 1889.

Jack was born in 1895 and John left the gang in 1906 after a failed bank robbery.

I was going to attempt looking this up, you saved me the trouble. My guess is that the game will take place before Jack is born. I had originally thought that Jack was born AFTER he left but he was already 11 and I guess this is where RDR picks up at. Good to know. I am horrible at story details.
