Anyone ever get inside or on the prison island in RDO

Question

IDK if this has ever been asked b4, and search comes up blank.  It's kinda of dunb question, curiosity thing.

First time I stole a canoe and drove all the way around the Manor for good hour and into St. Dennis shipping lanes.  Boat eventually sank but I got onto the islands , some of the ships, nothing really on them except fishing and a green iguana on one island.

Second time I stole a row boat and got almost all the way to the island, same thing, boat sank.

Guessing it's locked and boat sinking just about all I will get if I keep trying?

My buddies were trying to. The same thing happened to them. I am guessing it will be part of some DLC down the road or something. I have yet to bother considering the three of them all failed. lol

From what I hear, it is blocked off. I sent a message to Rockstar about it a few weeks back but never got a response. I was just wondering if you could get there or not. I am guessing not based on what I have read.

I’ve tried getting to both the Prison island, and to the South Coastal area (Mexico?) about 8 or 9 days ago. I failed both times with the boat suddenly sinking, just as you describe. Once was with a steam boat and once with a canoe/outrigger. I believe they are blocked off intentionally by R*.

a friend of mine attempted to swim out there a couple of months ago and drowned / died

my guess would be for free-for-all or team death match type scenarios

They won't respond to stuff like this because it isn't important. I wish they would just let us know what we can access on the map and what we can't so we don't waste time doing stuff like this.
