So where are you all at with this right now?

From my understanding, IPS providers want to make it like the internet functions similar on a smart phone plan. They have complete control of your usage. To me, this doesn't seem fair at all. They will put pressure on sites like Youtube and services like Netflix to pay up which will result in us having to pay because video eats up a lot of usage. It really is a mess man.

I am on board with my boyfriend on this one. We know it is bad but there is nothing we can do. It is going to get voted out. We need to focus on future measures to keep them from screwing us over now. I know there are "unjust" laws set to protect us by not allowing smaller IPS options to be bought up by bigger ones. Why not help smaller IPS companies by giving them a chance over the bigger names?

Sadly that is my view on it as well. I have seen people doing everything and anything they can and nothing is being changed in our favor. We are screwed but like you said, we still are going to be protected on some accounts which is good.

  • 2 weeks later...

So what is the deal with this? We know tomorrow if it is gone or not? I still don't fully understand it. I am seeing a lot of crap online about social media being $14.99 each month. What doesn't make sense is that Twitter, Snapchat, ect all the social media clients don't hog much usage in comparison to Netlfix and Youtube. So if anything, I could see prices for Netflix going up (and other streaming providers) and Youtube cutting corners on their content providers... Which they have been doing anyways.

It's millionaires vs. billionaires with the telecom companies on one end and the tech companies on the other.  Choose your poison.

Also, I'm betting everyone will forget about within a week and they'll move on to the next hysterical outrage campaign of the week.

BINGO! Everything people complained about and were in fear of won't even happen. Nothing but fear mongering. Come the new year, people will be too busy playing with their overpriced Christmas gifts to give a rats behind about what happens. Tis the way of the world. Blow everything out of proportion and then when nothing comes of it, pretend you never knew what it was to begin with. Just like the whole Y2K scare. Remember that?
