mizTik
I play just about any style anymore but open worlds tend to be my favorite. I do like some classic and old-style scrollers or map-based games but I find those get boring too easily these days. Never been a fan of MMO's oddly enough. I think those games are "too" open and the grinding with quests never appealed to me all that much.
CrabApples
I really don't have a preference myself. There are games that I just can't stand playing, like puzzle games. I don't mean like GoW or Tomb Raider, but the legit puzzle games. I also find that simulators that are styled for running a city or a business are quite boring to me. I remember trying SimCity years ago and I HATED it!
redscrew
I have always enjoyed FPS games the most overall. I love the angle the cameras are on these games and I am a huge fan of shooter games or any games involving guns.

If a game looks interesting enough to me no matter the general, I will play it. Hell, one of my favorite games to come out on Xbox 360 is Viva Pinata. I get plenty of laughs for it but I actually enjoyed it, especially when I still smoked.
SNAK3S
I am not sure what it would be classified as but I tend to lean toward games that are open world adventure ones. I guess a lot like what Rockstar offers. I do play other games but generally, I am more inclined to play this over the ladder.
Benjo
I cycle between GTAO, BF1 and FC5 at the moment. When RDR2 comes out I will cycle between RDR2 and RDR2.

My genre in terms of games will go from a mix to strickly RDR2 because RDR2 will be the best genre to play.
BelleStarr
I have become a more casual gamer actually, with the exception of R* games. I play Sims, Stardew Valley, used to play farming simulator, City Skylines etc. My mum bought me Horizon New Dawn and I thought I would get into it but I am not really feeling it and I feel bad because she bought it at quite a high price for me. Some games like Witcher became too overwhelming/complicated for me so I lost interest. Watch Dogs 2, RDR and the GTA series are the only non casual games that I have enjoyed, found easy to follow and it is not over-complicated! I enjoy games where you get times for yourself, to do what you like, to take it easy which you can do in the games I mentioned. In Witcher and HZD, you're always on edge because you could be spotted/attacked at any time and there's nothing else to do but constantly kill monsters/machines to stay alive. Far Cry Primal however seemed more tolerable for me - I haven't played it for a while now (I should probably try to complete it at some point). I've enjoyed it and found it fairly simple to follow. Maybe I'm a picky gamer, but finding the right balance for me seems difficult, but R* always manages to make games I can enjoy and usually complete. Games that are immersive and captivate you just by being in the world is what I like. Watch Dogs 2 does this well, as well as RDR and GTA.

Always tell them you love the games they buy you. It's a big thing for a parent to buy a game for a kid as they are always terrified they are out of touch and will get it wrong. Always lie. Always. Well I am 23 for a start (it was a birthday present), but I haven't mentioned my dislike for the games they've bought me. I asked for HZD because I thought I'd like it. My parents are good at buying/understanding video games. I appreciate the cost of video games and my parents don't have much money so I appreciate everything I get for occasions. ❤️ Edited May 24, 2018 by BelleStarr
