1 year of RDR2O

It was 1 year ago the other day that I started my RDR2 online character and account.

3/14/2019.

I can say after a year, the game has changed a lot.

For a time it was working great, for the past 5 months not so much, and since Moonshiner role was added it has been down right busted.

Still to this day, I get no animals, camp issues, etc.. you all know the issues.

Ive stuck it out in hopes they would eventually fix it or go to private servers and get off these p2p servers.

They keep talking like they are goign to fix it, so I keep hanging in there.

I am hoping soon they do fix these things as it isnt much fun to play anymore, I only keep it going for my daily challenge streak, I am at level 378, 180 gold bars, 11k$ in cash and 42 tokens still unused.

Here is to year 2, lets hope this year things improve a lot.

Sorry to hear you're still having animal spawn issues.  The last fix seemed to do it for me as the populations for the most part have returned close to the level they once were.  .....and if I'm going to be honest, I always thought the animal spawns were overdone previously.  What I see now in my sessions is close to what I saw months ago but more balanced.  ......although I'm not going to deny that I didn't take advantage of those endless herds, etc. before.

I know a lot of people won't be happy until spawns are the way they were though.

Interesting that you should say that.  I started playing online just under a year ago, have a lot of gold and cash, have maxed the four roles, am level 153 overall.  I had my daily streak up to 68 but then let that drop, as like you I was disillusioned with the constant glitches.  However, on Saturday night I logged in to have a quick look around, and my camp was stable.  So I did a daily challenge, then chanced my hand and tried a moonshine delivery.  It worked!  I then did two more daily challenges, had a shootout with a couple of other players in Valentine, then went to do some hunting.  There were animals everywhere!  I filled Cripps up, and made a local delivery.  Everything was working again.  I ran in a second moonshine delivery and logged off.  It was so much fun that I tried again last night, and it worked again.  I'll be on again this evening.  So my daily streak is at 2/7, but I have lots of gold and cash from my previous regular play, and if it continues as it was over the weekend for my (on Xbox) then I will be back playing the game regularly.  It was great to have it back.

So do stick with it.

Animal levels were certainly great for me over the weekend.  I don't mind having to invest some time in hunting, as long as I think that there's something out there to hunt.  And there was!  It was like the good old days on both Saturday and Sunday.  A great antidote to real life.

Don't get me wrong....  The spawns are certainly bountiful for me although just not quite at the level they once were which I'm actually ok with.  

I used to be able to run up and down that NW valley everyone goes to and have to stop about 3 times or more one way.  I would then stop, turn around and do it again.  Now, it's not as easy as that but there are animals / herds there as I first come in.  It just takes more time for them to spawn in again.  It seems I can't spam the area as quickly for herds / flocks like I once could but I can still harvest quite a bit.

So, I went in yesterday and decided to do a moonshine delivery, and those usually work for me anyway but this one put me in a solo session which meant for the first time in a LONG time, animals everywhere, I use the bayou for my moonshine shack and when I spawned it was glorious, gators everywhere etc.. so many birds I couldnt get them all.

I called in my hunting wagon while my delivery wagon sat there and the clock was ticking, I loaded it quickly, then jumped on the delivery wagon with 4 minutes to go and had to deliver to the pawn shop in St Denis, I got there with less than 1 minute to spare.

The good news, is I stayed in a solo session after I completed it, so I immediately went to get Pelicans, I usually keep 5 or 6 stocked in case we get that exotic bird meat challenge, after I grabbed 3 pelicans I went back, filled Cripps, reloaded my hunting wagon again then bailed for the day.

So it did work, but only in a solo session, it never seems to work with more than 12 players in a server still.

I did appreciate that it let me hunt and get stocked up again, I just wish we could have it both ways have players in the server and animals too.

I recently started to get bored with other titles and slowly became playing RDO again.

I have to say that the animal issue is almost fixed or fixed. I played for 4 days now and come across all animals that are in the game. Ofc the numbers are not the same as in solo sessions but its okay and you can fill cripps up with no problem. 

I have absolutely no issues with moonshiner - everything works without problems. 

Same with hunting and bounty hunting. 

The only issue i have is the camp...... it keeps despawning again and its hard to set it up. 

Same like you Luper before i took my 2 d break from game i missed only 2 days with dailies but now i have to get back on 0,5 gb again. Im not that determined to do it bcoz i have soo much gold bars atm but still miss some to 1k GB.

Yes agreed - I actually prefer the current animal spawn balance, feels more realistic.

Interesting, and sorry to hear that - I had a few player encounters, too.  Do't know your platform - I'm on Xbox.  I currently find this forum less stable than the game!!

Would love to have some new content bcoz after i play for 2 hours i get bored. We shall see. 

I'm hoping for Mexico.  My Camp was suddenly stable yesterday, was wonderful.  My streak is at 3/7!  I even levelled up last night.

In terms of the boredom, I have found myself using the on call feature, helping other players with missions.  Breaks things up nicely.  Just as well, as my one remaining glitch is that I can no longer replay old story missions - all I can get to is the last two moonshiner missions.  So via on call is my only route to old missions.  Last night we robbed the bank in St Denis.  Did it all with a high roller revolver.  Lovely!

If the animals were back, id be happy with it, I just havent seen that.

I dont need them to be at story mode levels or solo session levels, but still it would be nice to find deer and raccoons, rabbits etc.. a lot more.

Even gators, heck I go to the Bayou and cant find a gator anywhere no wild boars, etc.. just a few birds usually, a few herons or loons etc.. but never walking mammals anymore.

Damn Hitchcock, save some gold for me, 800 gold bars!!! lol

Don't know which format you're on.  I'm on Xbox One X.  Just saw a post on FB saying that the spawns are now 'fixed for Xbox but not for PC or PS4'.  No idea whether there's anything in it, but is might explain it and suggests that Rockstar are at least working on it in the background.  I certainly got a good range of animals over the weekend and last night.  I even managed to fulfil the daily challenge 'seven medium carcasses for Cripps' on Saturday.  Would have been a pipe dream last time I logged on before this weekend.

And I know, 800 gold bars!  I checked and I'm just over 200 and I thought that was good!!!  Hats off to @James Hickok_1837!!

Today a few birds, nothing else, I was thinking as I rode from St Denis to the Bayou and then Rhodes, not a boar, bear, deer, pronghorn, raccoon, rabbit, or even a muskrat, there are simply no animals for me.

Disappointing but not unexpected.

Well that sucks sorry.  Was good for me again last night, so I guess different servers or something.  More animals but also a real range.  Got my daily streak back up to 4/7 ad will be back on again this evening.  Sorry to hear that it is still so patchy.

Same for me last night.  There were certainly more during times playing alone (during missions), but I still had a range of animals in full servers.

R* sent me a note said to delete my profile, uninstall the game, download my profile again and then re install he game and let it update, etc...

I feel like, ummmm no, I dont want to go through all that.

Yeah....  That sounds kinda crazy.  They did say that the updates they made won't necessarily resolve the issue for all. I just hope they get it sorted at some point for those still suffering.

Really sorry to hear that, really sucks & not sure I'd want to chance it - quite apart from anything else, I'd be worried that it would delete my character.  Crazy that updates don't work for all, as mine is completely fixed and you and I are on the same console.  Mine was great again last night and it's like the old days.  That's just appalling, sorry.

Ive learned in a year, these people responding are reading from script and often their recommendations do absolutely nothing, I am not going through all that in hopes that camps start working and animals spawn, lol.

Anyway, same old thing, today no fast travel, I had to ride from Tumbleweed to LaGras that was fun, I did find a few animals which is hard to complain about, but literally a few, thats it.

I dunno, the game just stinks now, its a real shame this game has so much potential but they have got to go dedicated servers or it is never going to improve.

The p2p system allows for way too many errors, plus manipulation from players as any pc player will tell you it is literally the wild west on PC.

I still do my daily challenges in case they ever fix it, but short of that I just bail right after and find something else to do.

I did spend 6 weeks tweaking these settings trying to figure out the blur issues I was having and I worked that out so now it is crystal clear when panning 360 degrees or rising my horse and looking around I no longer get that blur, I used to have to stop and then look real carefully to see any animals or collectibles etc.. and I would get a headache, but now it is crystal clear, and I do really like it.

I just wish they would fix the game.

That's how these call centers and first tier operators work, using scripts.  In some cases, you might get someone who has a little more personal knowledge than the next but even then, some companies demand they stick to the scripts.

Before the PC release, you could get your case escalated pretty easily IME and even these front line folks seemed a little more knowledgeable at times.

After the PC release, they even started sending messages that your case is closed but they will investigate.  They didn't even bother trying to address some issues.

Now, I don't know if that's due to the contractor they are using, the fact that they were overwhelmed by the PC release or perhaps some combination of problems.  .....but it was annoying to say the least.

I haven't tried Support in a while but a couple responses I saw from people saying they were helped recently might indicate a change.  .....I don't know.

But if nobody says anything........

I find myself logging on to do the easiest dailies then going back to the campaign. I’m on my second play-through. Trying to experience as much of the side activities as possible since my first play-through was with my wife. She likes watching me play cinematic games. In RDO I’m level 177, 345 gold and $5,000 cash.
