Will you lose your war horse if it gets killed? seems silly to include it in any of the editions if so. Thanks for any information

Not sure, but according to several articles I read, your horse's testicles shrivel in the colder regions of the game.

I'd like to think they wouldn't make some cool DLC that you can lose through no fault of your own...

Just seems pointless including it if so! you may as well find any random horse roaming around if it’s just going to die on you and not be saved for use again. No doubt it’s not going to survive long with the amount of gunfire and shootouts involved with most missions

According to an IGN article:

Quote

38) You can 'store' horses in stables, in case you need a 'back-up' horse, because...

39) If your horse dies, it’s gone; they’re not like cars in GTA V that can be resurrected via an insurance claim.

40) You can tell your horse to flee when it’s in a precarious situation to try to spare its life.

So I believe if your War Horse dies, that horse is gone.
You can find a new one at a stable, but that is a brand new horse where you have to rebuild your bond with.

I like the idea of having to re-bond with your new horse. But now I'm never going to buy the expensive horses, which is a shame. Was looking forward to buying a cool ass horse.

I read that too. One of the first things i'm doing is going straight to the grizzlies and checking to see if my horse balls have shrunk lol

Pretty sure if you buy a horse you will always own that horse, but if it dies then you have to build the bond with it again. So, with the war horse, you will always have access to it but your bond will come and go depending on whether or not it is killed.

Considering how often my horses got killed in RDR.  Then I will either walk every where or never have a very good horse that responds.

If you have lots of money, there's always stagecoaches.

Or! Fast travel with "Basic Campsite!"

I think if you are in danger like in the middle of a shootout you can tell your horse to leave to stop it from getting harmed. I'm quite looking forward to the whole horse bonding thing, the fact that your horse is actually your companion that needs caring for rather than being just a disposable mode of transport that will respawn. It all adds to the realism.

Oh. I thought it your horse died, a random one would just respawn in its place :P.

Make sense taking into account that the war horse is a "bonus". It will not be fair that the RS people leave you loose it if you have "paid" for that.

Yeah, I can see it now.  "Hey stagecoach driver, just wait here.  I am going over the hill, shoot some people, hogtie my bounty, and come running back when the survivors start to spawn in.  Just keep the horses running and I be back in a jif."
