Hyperbole much? The system works fine. It's a bit... strict, but it works. That's on you. ALWAYS kill the witness, too. This one got me on one of the raid missions. I won't go into specifics, but I lingered at the raid site too long looting, and suddenly, I was like Butch without Sundance, holed up in a cabin with nowhere to go. That's a button layout issue, and R* is to blame. It was idiotic to have the "interact" toggle (L2 on PS4) be the same as the aim button. Look, I don't ride my horse unarmed; O'Driscolls are constantly riding out to ambush you. I've had at least half a dozen instances of trying to talk to someone that ended up becoming a fight because I pulled a gun unintentionally. Once I'm in a town, I always manually switch over to bare hands to avoid this, but only a fool rides through the wilderness unarmed. For God's sake, there's out there roaming in the woods. Omnipotence must be a heavy burden, bro. BOOOOOOOOOOOORING! Ol' double barrel shotty to the dome is much more satisfying. That's how I handled the drunken Frontiersman in Valentine. They're still scraping his brain matter off the ceiling of the bar.3 points

Thank you lot for some answers, I managed to save up some more money in the end and bought myself a new Arabian. The struggle there was real as I took some bounty hunting trips and finally managed to save up 950$ only to realize when I got back to the stable that the sale was over and the price had gone up to 1050$ instead. Had to run around like crazy a bit more to save up some more money but got there in the end, now I've done as BropolloCreed79 suggested and save each time I'm basically afraid I'll lose my horse. But yeah I mean I don't think I've ever felt such frustration and sadness in losing something in a game as when I realised I had lost that horse.2 points

In my experience, you'll actually want to press R2 twice after filling up the meter. Lightly hold R2 to fill up the meter, then press and release R2 to draw your weapon and bring up dead eye, and then aim and press R2 again to fire. I practiced how to duel on the mission The Noblest of Men and a Woman. You'll get into a couple duels and if you die, just restart the checkpoint and it should restart right when the duel starts2 points

I'd be lying if I said I didn't snicker every time I have Arthur take a bath. I always opt for "the help", and her hand continually dips into the water near his crotch and lingers. And Arthur usually sighs contentedly when she does. That's close enough for me.2 points

This is why I always create a backup save before starting a new mission. It's saved my horse three times now. With some missions, you can't save during, so I try to do it before I start off on anything new, even if I'm in the middle of nowhere.2 points

Hello, I really think Red Dead Redemption 2 could well be game of the year. I really think the story mode is great, lots of eye candy scenery, great graphics in general, awesome game play, horse dynamics is amazing, so many options and customization from the previous Red Dead Redemption, and I think Red Dead Online will be the icing on the cake. If the Red Dead Online is legendary and better than GTA Online, this game would destroy everything that is out right now for the consoles. In my honest opinion, Rockstar is far away from done with this game, this game will just keep getting better and better and I cannot wait to see how Red Dead Online plays out to be.1 point

The think the main take away from that Tweet is that if the issue is large enough to attract this sort of attention, it's only a matter of time before R* acts on it (if they are not already). I don't know who the source was that R* Intel talked to. I am sure R* wants to get on top of these types of issues asap to ensure their successful launch isn't marred.1 point

@porkovich thanks! So that makes at least 3 of us that have reported it to them. I also sent over a tweet to an IGN journalist to see if this thread can get some traction as were really the only place talking about it besides all the complaints on Twitter.1 point

Take a breath and relax cowboy. First I am coming from the PC world. Second I have a 2000 dollars LG OLED bought this year, and after that I recently bought a PS4 Pro because although I know from previous experiences that consoles normally moves games like sh*t, I was attracted by some of the PS4 games that I really wanted to play. One clarification, Uncharted 4 looks great... while moving slowly or while not movin. When playing, 80% of the game, moves like sh*t. There you have my measure bar, you don’t like it, no problem. You don’t respect my opinion, then go **** yourself.1 point

My crack up moment was riding down one of the main trails and this cowpuncher was trying to help his horse....trying to pull a thorn or rusty nail out of his paw, and the horse kicked the man right in the head and killed him....I sat there for a moment with a smile on my face.1 point

From the first mission where you go to the stable, I have been using the Thoroughbred that came with special/ultimate edition (not sure which gave the horse as i have the ultimate edition). Since it has a sort of mottled steel look, and I gave it a silver mohawk mane and long silver tail, first thing that popped to my mind was "Steely Dan", so that's what I named it.1 point

There have been so many memorable moments. But of my favorites was coming across a severed leg and a big pool of blood on my way to a mission, and what I found after investigating and tracking it, was quite disturbing.1 point

It happens. If you load up on ammo, you can sit in the back room and pick them off as they come through the doorway in front, or into the 1st back room. I had a pile of about 50 of them yesterday. That's the beauty of saving before you try something stupid--the complete freedom to do anything regardless of consequences, like trying (and failing, sadly) to build a corpse wall in the physician's office.1 point

Have PS4 Pro and 4K 55" TV. When the PS4 Pro video output is configured to Automatic (I assume 4K), the game becomes unplayable for me as it is extremely blurry and some areas are really killing my eyes. Not sure what the hell is going on. To be honest, I had similar issue with Uncharted 4 and I was thinking this to be related to the extreme motion blur and poor frame-rate performance due to lack of power and the need to implement tricks to get the ****ing 4K resolution. Not to mention the HDR is broken for me as well. After some tests, the only way I can play minimally comfortable is as follow: PS4 Pro video output set to 1080p RDR2 In Game HDR setting turned OFF I am not sure what this set up technically does, I can guess that the frame rate is better and the blurry crap is somehow better. Not ideal but at least playable... I have contacted Rockstar Support a couple of times and they don't have a clue so far. They just keep telling vague recommendation that if you feel better on 1080p, please play on that resolution while we communicate your issue to the team... I would like to know if other people with the same set up as mine feel a better experience with 1080p and HDR OFF.1 point

Yeah no way to get around the law coming for you I don't believe. My question is what you do with the Mayor in Strawberry. Got a tip from a stranger I helped, but don't know what to do with him. Followed him around a bit, even saved than killed him, but he only had a letter on him.1 point

It does look amazing from far away but for those that play closer, the motion blur and overall blurriness are really distracting. Some people are more sensitive to it than others too. I’ve read some folks are getting headaches from it.1 point

Couple of things regarding this: 1. The criminal system is in fact flawed but not to the point of what the OP is talking about. You can actually get into a fist fight and as long as you don't loot the NPC you beat up, then you're fine. I have done this time and time again. Anytime someone provoked me I waited until they threw the first punch and then I destroyed them. Just don't shoot them. 2. The problem I have is when I see a murder happen at a camp along the road and I go to investigate myself. The aggressive NPC will then challenge me and pull out his gun, he starts shooting me, I kill him and then if a passerby sees this, he flags ME for murder instead of letting me explain what happened. This is a problem. 3. I setup myself on a ridge with a sniper rifle and was shooting at this one passerby that was VERY far away. One shot in the head and killed him. His friend (who couldn't possibly know where I was) started investigating and about 30 seconds later I was flagged for murder and then 10 seconds later I had 6 lawmen behind me waiting on horseback. That was ridiculous.1 point

Well, it's fixxed! I'll post what I did in case someone else have this problem. First of all, I don't know if this is what fixxed, but, it was indeed there after I did this, so... Like I sayed, I have an xbox, what I did was, delete the ultimate edition dlc (10mb) in the manage games and addons section of RDR2; Instaled it again; And once the download is finished, you get a prompt telling you to hold the xbox symbol buttom in the controller to launch the game, and I did that, and when I started the game, I went for that quest that get you in the stables, and the dlc horses were there. I did this because someone in one youtube video comment section told he did this also and that it fixxed for him too. Hope this helps someone else too.1 point

Simple Jack. He's a big Dutch Drafthorse that I cut loose from a stagecoach, and his testicles are impressive enough that I ditched my current horse at the time without a care in the world.1 point

The game is full of these side quests (which are AWESOME) Two I've stumbled across: And I love these side quests. Sure they get me off task from whatever I'm working on, but they're so great--and now I have some sick gear from the first spoiler that I use all the time.1 point

Horse perma-death, while not as bad as character perma-death would be, really adds a huge layer of danger/risk to the game. This is the main reason why I'm not going to risk getting a high quality horse - just going to stick with the freebies. Then I wont feel the sting half as bad. Maybe I'll get a high quality horse last - after I've used money to get everything else possible and have nothing else to spend cash on. Brutal mechanic!!1 point

Guys, I don't know if it was posted earlier but you can temporary fix that by setting your ps4 pro to 1080p and turning off supersampling. That's how I'm playing it now because otherwise it gives me headache. And this is not a resolution issue or upscaling technique issue. It is caused by anti aliasing bugging with checkerboard rendering.1 point

Yes in the stables. Not sure how far into the story you are but if you haven't visited the stable in Valentine yet then you can't rename your horse yet.1 point

You do keep them both, but if you replace one it will go back to your horse. If you want to hold both you need to select in your weapon wheel either an empty slot or a slot with a weapon you don't mind putting back onto your horse.1 point

I'll keep an eye out, but I'm not sure how many stores we'll be stopping at. The hotel bar doesn't have it though... Edit: I did try the Shiner Bock beer though (localish brew). Definitely a favorite now.1 point

I've got the same problem, so annoying having an Alligator skin permanently on the back of my horse. It's definitely a glitch as it's not appearing at all in my horse cargo so I can't sell it or get rid of it!! Any ideas? Did anyone else with this issue have it where the skin wasn't in their horse cargo?1 point

Keep your eye on the wanted notifications. If someone reports you and you were not clearly identified, they ran across a dead body, etc., the law will investigate. ....this is all mentioned in the message box that appears. Masks do help and so does changing outfits to help reduce your wanted status. .....although any bounty will still be there. The system is more complex this time around. DO NOT shoot at lawmen unless it's a last resort. That will hang a "dead or alive" status on you. When you give up, make sure you're weapon(s) holstered and use the dialogue button to surrender. They don't take all of your money. Don't commit crimes in populated areas, don't stick around when you're spotted (unless you can catch the witness without other seeing) and don't piss people off. Use the dialogue options if people are rude and back the hell off. You have the option most times to "diffuse" in the dialogue when people are antagonizing you. Make an effort to boost your honor level in town. Talk to the population and you'll find they become more friendly, give you better prices in stores, etc. I have to tell you..... I've been in town plenty of times and it's not a matter of walking on eggshells. You need to be smart about it. Don't ride fast through crowded streets because if you hit someone hard enough with your horse, you will get a bounty (assault charge I believe). Plus, it pisses off the townsfolk when you ride too fast. Walking or just a smidge faster if your best bet. I avoid rival gangs in town when I can and if I do get in a scuffle, I make sure that it's only fists. .....I've won a few fights with no consequences as long as you stop in time (don't kill the opponent). ....but rival gangs will usually draw weapons and it's best just to avoid them or get out of town asap before the law gets on your tail. btw, if you think there will be trouble, call your horse so its nearby in case you need to make a hasty getaway. Posses and lawmen are easy enough to spot on the minimap as there will be a red glow in the direct that they may be coming from. Simply run the other direction or (in my case if they are a posse), I will get to a defendable area and pick them off. I've had some satisfying gunfights and running, exchanges of fire with posses. I've played quite a few hours so far and have only had 4 bounties placed on me. The first was an accident. The second was animal cruelty as I threw a throwing knife at a cat (thought it was a varmint. The third was me being stupid and assaulting someone who pissed me off. The last was from a mission and scripted so I had no choice. .....almost ready to pay off that $300. Personally, I'm enjoying the new bounty system and it's added complexity. Once you understand it, it's easy enough to stay or get out of trouble. Oh, and stay out of the territories where you are wanted if you're constantly being harassed there. ......at least until you can pay of the bounty (which can be done at any rail station in the game world).1 point
