Are you trying to reel in the fish when it's fighting? That's a no no. When it fights hold left or right on the left analog stick and go back to reeling when it stops. Take your time to reel it in. I caught an 18 lbs 8 oz. Muskie last night with a river lure. Didn't have an issue bringing him in.4 points

You bring up a sore subject, Bro. I heart dynamite. But it really chaps my hide that I bought ALL the ammunition upgrades for my camp and STILL can't get dynamite there! You have to go to a stupid FENCE for the stuff! That being said, I can't tell you how many O'Driscoll and Lemoyne Raider camps I've snuck up upon with a well-placed sizzling stick. BOOM! - gone.2 points

I'm not the one to ask. I just started Chapter 4 yesterday and realized I'm STILL using the Cattleman Revolver. 😒2 points

Like @Vaderspupil said, you can't just keep reeling it in. Use the left stick to pull it where you want and wait for it to stop resisting. Then reel it in quickly, pulling back on the left stick as you go (that pulls the fish closer to you and makes it easier to reel in). If your controller is vibrating, you should wait. Smaller fish don't seem to break the line either way though.2 points

LOL this must be why the game made $750M in 3 days. Because it "sucks". No. You're just looking for something specific and RDR2 is not delivering that to you. Also known as being childish and irrational.2 points

I, like a few others I've seen on here, have migrated over from the Friday the 13th forums. My posse and I don't go looking for trouble, but if trouble finds us, we're not afraid to get dirty. Other than that, looking forward to seeing y'all out there in the wild west.1 point

Fish like you would in real life. If the fish is pulling, the line will snap. Just be patient about it. They did a good job with a lot of mechanics in the game being true to life.1 point

LOL Nice plan! Either way, he will look like a di*k if he gets mad which is a win for you either way. I love sibling rivalry when kids are unintentionally involved. I do it with my sister all the time. My niece is a bit of an ADD gal and she loses interest in things fast so every time I get her a gift, I make sure to give it a week or 2 late so she has something new to enjoy. My sister gets so mad.1 point

I had to do this last night. I hate reporting people for just pissing me off but these dudes were straight up being racist, be it to be funny or not it wasn't right and they were targeting a solo player too. I tried to handle it calmly but then they started calling me all kinds of distasteful names so I send the other dude a message and said to report them all and I would do the same.1 point

That's in October... I talked it over with my buddy and came up with THE BEST plan. I'll make it a day after Christmas present! That way he gets to "win" Christmas, my nephew still gets the upgrade, and I piss off my brother more than I ever could've dreamed!1 point

I had this happen to me a few times. I reset my router and it was fine. I don't know if that was a pure coincidence or not but you can try that. Also, I would contact them like mentioned above. If it is indeed an issue for them to fix, best to let them know about it.1 point

On this screenshot from youtube video comparing graphics on all consoles played on FHD display we can see that problem is probably not a checkerboard rendering technique implementation, but some kind of AA similar to FXAA which gives blur effect and is used on all consoles except XB1X, where they probably realised it is not needed because of its native 4k resolution.1 point

The challenges are in my opinion the only part of the game that in some cases can be... boring. It is one of the very few designer flaws in this game imho as they could have been more enjoyable and also the rewards could have been cooler.1 point

I'm not looking forward to those gambler challenges... I think the exotics are also going to be a pain in the ass.1 point

Check your internet connection. There is 2 different ones that should affect this. IPV4 and IPV6. If your internet provider isn't providing the IPV6, you will have issues connecting or staying connected to online games1 point

Did this begin occurring after the latest patch was released? Either way, I would report the bug to Rockstar support: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?step=eccc1460 Also would suggest a Google search as this error code revealed several Reddit discussions and articles including this one with a possible solution: https://www.shacknews.com/article/108721/red-dead-online-error-0x20010006-fix1 point

The best guns? I have finished the story twice and I am around 98% done with the game in total. I have played for way too many hours as I enjoy the hell out of this game just hunting and being an outlaw/friendly Cowboy. I love each and every aspect of this game and it is now my go to game for relaxing and just having fun and I am just playing the story mode as I hate online. Despite all this and the fact that my main save is way beyond the ending of epilogue 2 and that I have every talisman and such, my favorite weapon is still my two pimped cattleman revolvers! I am a sucker for the Colt SAA models and the cattleman with long barrel makes it the equivalent of Colt SAA Cavalry, and it is sexy as hell! I am a little strange that way I guess as I only use revolvers when it comes to handguns, the volcanic is ok because it still has the old west aesthetics and flavor but the more modern handguns is a big no no for me. I do use all the rifles and repeaters since they are good for hunting but my favourite among them are the Lancaster aka Winchester yellow boy repeater and the Springfield trapdoor rifle.1 point

I swear, every time I see my character page or anyone's like this, the hands always remind me of Talladega Nights, where Ricky Bobby has no idea what to do with his hands during his first interview.1 point

I'm right at 50%, but have limited opportunities as the moment. Once things settle down in a few weeks, I'll get back into it, but for now, I'm just making my way through items on the completion checklist and knocking out challenges (really starting to hate cardinals).1 point
-
Just don't make the mistake of stocking up on everything like I did. Focus on the extra stuff (challenges, stranger missions, special items, etc) but don't worry about money or anything. I wanted to get through the missions before I started forgetting what was going on. Once I got back to them, I couldn't stop lol I'll do another play through soon enough, I only have a few more things to wrap up. I'm at 92.3% total completion.1 point
-
@Volt I strongly advise ignoring the extra stuff right now and getting through chapter 6. That last mission was ****ing awesome!1 point

I got killed today, right after logging into New Austin. After it happened, I do what I normally do, go to another server. Same thing happened as soon as I logged in the second time. I decided now might not be a good time, so I logged off for now. But that's what I usually do, just jump from server to server until I can at least settle in for a bit. At this point, I wish Rockstar would let us know if there will eventually be PvE servers or some way to flag myself like I do my camp. I'd rather not keep investing my time in the game if something such as that is not planned. I experienced one of the reasons I don't just walk away from this game the other day. I did a stranger mission with a cut scene. Someone told me not to finish the mission and when the timer appears to let it run out and see what happens. The timer ran out and I pressed left to see how many people were there in the lobby with me. There was no one. My name was the only one showing. I hunted for about two and a half hours, stacking more skins than I normally would because I had no worries about being killed and losing them. Just minding my own business, walking the areas around me. This is closer to the experience that I thought Red Dead 2 Online was going to be. The constant looking over my shoulder isn't relaxing at all. I would have played all day but I had to be somewhere. I was really pissed off that I couldn't play longer.1 point

Are there multiple ways to obtain guns? I thought it was either through the store or through missions (other than a few). Which guns are "the best"? I never really compared. I only really use the Springfield rifle, the Lancaster repeater, or the varmint rifle.1 point

RDR was a game that surprised me. FPS western is really not something I thought I would like. The game was so much fun for me that I played through it twice. RDR2 is more of the things I really liked in the previous version with an even better story line. There have been some sessions where I will just do main story tasks, but I have had a few nights where I do nothing but hunting, fishing, train robbery and even camp chores or Bath simulator... Its all fun depending on the mood.1 point

In my opinion, this is the best game ever made for me. Honestly, I feel rockstar could have made it even better but was probably too worried to go too far with the slow pace bacause of guys like the poster here. Honestly, I have always wanted a game where you actually pull physical items from a bag one at a time, or loot a house by grabbing things one at a time. I feel like this is the direction they truly wanted to go and yeah, they achieved that but probably not as much as they or i wanted. I am totally satisfied, dont get me wrong, they have to cater to a large group of people to get the money for a game like this but i think i would enjoy even longer skinning animations with the chance to speed up to the type we have now, instead of how some large animals kinda cut to different sections of the skinning process to keep it quicker. I would rather take 10 puffs off a cigarette than one and toss. I'd rather see our character actually take off his coat and store it when swapping outfits on your horse. Honestly I cant even complain at all, I enjoy every aspect and approach made by rockstar with this installment. I feel like they cut a few things to speed up the pace but the game still leans toward the slow, calculated, realistic side of things which is totally against the grain in a world where instant satisfaction and having things given to you for nothing reigns supreme.1 point

Well, perhaps they were but I have a hard time believing Microsoft would ban a player in a PvP game mode for simply ambushing another player at a butcher. That said, I don;t know how MS does it but maybe that player already had multiple complaints about other infractions, I just don't see how MS could ban someone for playing the game as designed. I'm not excusing griefers / trolls, but the definition is certainly not as absolute as some will try to make it (in this game in Free Roam).1 point

I saved a griefers horse last night...lol After he blasted a friend of mine in the back of the head. We then killed him about 5 times in a row. I mistakenly sniped his horse while he tried to get away. Ran over there and saved his horse. He stopped shooting at us and started doing waving emotes. We then all went over to the Tumble Weed Bar.. drank and had bar brawls...lol1 point

The vest is the issue. Try wearing the Wilderness vest + Sheepskin Coat. (its the one with the leather tassles along the breast pockets with sheepskin lining.... (some are lucky enough to acquire it as part of the random clothing you get at character creation. If not you have to be level 91 I think to buy it. It is the only Vest I own that grants cold weather protection when coupled with the sheepskin coat. Id also use gloves but I don't believe its required when wearing this outfit. ALSO...... Wearing clothes good for average temps in certain areas of the grizzlies of some other northern areas at nighttime will cause a higher drain rate on your health core. (your health core is already always draining). Wearing clothes meant for HOT temps in those same areas will cause a rapid drain of your health core. As long as you have food cooked or bought to deal with this, a short trip is easy. However, an hour long hunt up there will burn through your food pretty quick. Never know when youll get ambushed by some O'Driscoles up there either. Never trust men in black that appear to be sitting(hiding) in the woods for no reason. Just had his happen ;last night with over $120 worth of skins and pelts on me. Below is a picture of the vest.1 point

Hi I’m kind of newish to this multiplayer thing but your post is exactly wot I’ve been looking for, like many folk who replied to your post I too am a bit of an old gun but I hope this doesn’t put u off, I myself am not disabled butt my wife is so I get a good bit of time on this brilliant game,as my wife is online a lot too on her games etc. I too am on gmt so I’m usually on from 7 to morning so please get back to me pardoner,I also don’t like grieving or griefers who I think have the worst disability ie being dimwits lol ,one prob I got for now is I don’t have mic yet but Xmas is a coming n I don’t have a gamer tag as far as I know, remember I am still new but I am levelling up good hope to hear from u soon1 point

Even cowards, gutless wonders and scum need ways to express themselves. The act of griefing is how they can achieve this need.1 point

Rockstar have said there is no way you can change your character's features, sex etc. Once you have created it. That is why they advise people to take their time and think wisely when creating a character. Like previous posters you will have to delete your character and start again.1 point

Anyone else noticed that not only does your horse rank reset on its own, but it manages to magically change sex between different missions/activities. I bought a female horse, but noticed my horse yesterday after a mission had some rather large swingers between its legs and then after another mission they were gone again, quick fire surgery! Poor horsey.1 point

If you're anything like me you've likely been putting off completing Herbalist challenge #9 as spending hours searching the map for every single plant seems like a daunting challenge. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get it done and so I thought I'd share some resources that helped me to complete it, in hopes that it helps at least one other person. The majority of the credit goes to others who created the following video: As well as this site: http://www.powerpyx.com/red-dead-redemption-2-plants-locations/ I did however sort the plants by area so you can use it in conjuction with the above links to hopefully save wasting time travelling . Hope this helps: Lemoyne - Acuna’s Star Orchid Chanterelles Cigar Orchid Clamshell Orchid Common Bulrush Creeping Thyme Evergreen Huckleberry Ghost Orchid Lady of the Night Orchid Milkweed Night Scented Orchid Oleander Sage Queen’s Orchid Rat Tail Orchid Red Raspberry Spider Orchid Vanilla Flower Hannover West- Golden Currant Hummingbird Sage Moccasin Flower Orchid Sparrow’s Egg Orchid Yarrow Hannover East- American Ginseng Bay Bolete Blackberry Burdock Root Indian Tobacco Oregano Parasol Mushroom Wild Carrot Wild Mint Hannover North- Ram’s Head Wintergreen Berry Ambarino - Dragon’s Mouth Orchid Alaskan Ginseng West Elizabeth - Lady Slipper Orchid Prairie Poppy Violet Snowdrops Austin- Blackcurrant Desert Sage English Mace Red Sage Wild Feverfew Some plants do appear in multiple areas however so I advise creating a checklist to tick them off as you go. Hope this helps.1 point

Your rules sound like my rules, AND I'm disabled too - plus I'm older than both of you youngun's. I'm DLKnives on XBL and am on Pacific Time but I play pretty late. Have a mic. Hope it's OK, I added you both.1 point

Howdy, Boab! If’n the grey hair didn’t tip you off, I might be a tad bit older’n you. That said, spending some time huntin’, fishin’ or getting in trouble once in a while sounds like it might be good for the soul. I am in the Eastern US and am mostly on at nights. If’n you see me out and about feel free to give me a holler. -Gato Gamertag: Grey Gato1 point

Wasn't at all certain about the gold, and wasn't sure if they patched out keeping your money, or if that is intended. Keeping the funds after a reset will probably stay, kind of a way to help get your character back to where it was before, especially helpful if they don't give some "plastic surgery" option or even additional character slots.1 point

I'm confused, aren't two eyebrows normal? or were you hoping for a unibrow? I think the majority of people back then only appeared ugly because of poor hygiene. Very dirty, unkempt, teeth like in the character creator at best, etc. My local pub until recently had a picture and license from what was considered back then to be the hottest prostitute in the San Francisco area, and by today's standards, she is not attractive at all, and quite lumpy by the photo. I am hoping to be able to make a second or third character to play someday, like GTA had, because I always start with a character that I try to make look as much like me as possible, then try to make something silly/hideous when I don't feel like playing my main. This might come to RDO, but it will probably be a long time before it does.1 point
-
See, THAT'S how it's supposed to be. I'll probably take another stab at it tonight, and then whatever I end up with is what I'll keep going forward.1 point

As far as i know, this is the update log. However, Rockstar did not yet announce anything.. Wich is a bit... weird? Added fixes for crashing issues with Red Dead Redemption 2 version 1.04. Added fixes for stuttering/lag issues. RDR2 update 1.04 has fixed some glitches. Added fixes for framerate drop and freezing issues. Added performance and stability improvements. Gameplay improvements added with Red Dead Redemption 2 patch 1.04. Added other minor fixes and changes with Red Dead Redemption 2 version 1.04.1 point

In terms of cash relevant to easiness, reliability, risk of loss and time factors, I'd say fishing. It's simple, guaranteed, reasonably quick, and fish in satchel cannot be lost or stolen. The obvious other contender is bird/feather hunting. The two often work well together in some areas as the best money making combo in game. Shoot some birds, catch some fish.1 point
