  1. I Honestly think people forget about GTA in the earlier days. I remember many rants at the time how everyone was going to stop playing when heists never came out update after update... Or Beach Bum DLC? Man, this sucks. Boycott R*!!! Yet to this day people are still playing, still spending money and still complaining every time something new comes along... Bottom line, I don’t really think YouTube ranters, people making noise on Internet forums and a news report about how a yet to be completed game in beta isn’t raking in as much as a game that’s been established back when most of the newer gamers were playing match the colours with Mickey Mouse show that the game is on its death bed.. but who knows? They may be right. on a side note, I think the loudest complainers may also be the people least likely to be the ones dropping cash on micro transactions in the first place. Often the very first complaints I see are along the lines of ‘Now they’re making it pay to win. Greedy money grubbing corporation. I’m not playing anymore’
  2. Seriously, I don’t see how getting your head blown off while helpless in the fishing animation, or stepping out of a cutscene without even the benifit of a mini map, or any of the other million ways Griefers use to get a cheap kill makes the game harder... just more annoying. And I’ve said it before, I don’t understand what people get out of killing players for no reason in free roam. It’s not like you can loot the bodies for money or goods. You get minimal XP. At least now you get punished with a tiny bounty. It’s just a big waste of time, and I have better things to do than spend my hour or so every day or two I actually get online than getting into endless expensive gunfights with di*ks that have too much time on their hands and daddy’s credit card number.
  3. I think GTA is probably on its way out after all this time... RDR2 is probably where they hope to make money while we wait a few more years for the next GTA. They won’t let it die I think. But what do I know... Other than I like RDR2 and will likely keep playing it off and on among other discount used games That catch my fancy (as well as the odd new title that comes out) until a game comes out to make it worth my money to buy a PS5.
  4. No, I want to play FarmVille, or hunting simulator, or whatever other stupid game Griefers fling out there in an effort to hurt my feelings...
  5. Yeah, well honestly, GTA has a fan base going back to when it was a top down PC game that came on floppy disks... not to mention it’s online has been tweaked and developed since the last console generation. RDR is only in its third incarnation (if your even counting red dead revolver... a fun game but I liked Gun better at the time). The online isn’t even released in its final form yet (still a beta, however much everyone complains about it), and has only been out a couple months. so we have a smaller fan base to start with, and a game in a phase where people these days that seem to have the attention span of a goldfish can’t bother logging in unless they can just ride around shooting and blowing people up, because ‘content man’... so now that the bounty is in place, all the murder hobos have nothing better to do and moved on to something else where they can indiscriminately kill for no reason for a while. once the games been balanced out, tweaks have been made and content starts coming out regularly people will come back. I really don’t think anyone really expects a game in a testing phase to out compete a game that has been fully developed and has a half decade of continuous growth and play behind it.
  6. Who says that is all anyone wants to do? Perhaps we want to level up, hunt, fish, pick herbs and kill NPCsin free roam (without di*ks killing us mid animation or a millisecond after leaving a cutscene, or sniped when trying to go to the shop etc) so we have money and experience when we choose to enter structured PVP events such as showdown modes, or free roam missions, or other times when there is an actual reason to enter into combat with other players and everyone is in on the pending gunfight...
  7. I wonder... I see lots of complaints about the new update. But how many have offered suggestions on how to improve things through the Rockstar feedback site? I don’t mean having sent a message along the lines of ‘your update sux! You nerfed hunting and made a kill tax. I quit!’... but an actual suggestion on how you think the system should be changed or improved?
  8. As for the despawing, my general rule is keep everything inside the mini map radius. Outside that and you risk andespawn... it’s been like this since day one for me. Nothing new
  9. Honestly, I could understand getting killed or whatever if there was a purpose for it. I don’t mind loosing my pelts because someone else legitimately robbed me and made a profit off it. But as far as I know, all you get is the same exact XP you would get if you shot the church lady NPC down the road. Therefore, the only reason at all to kill another player outside of a structured activity is just to piss them off... so yeah, I guess every single random freeroam killing is basically grieving when you break it down that way... personaly, when I want a gunfight, I simply jump into showdown. All the fun of a shootout only instead of costing you time and ammo for nothing (and post update, a bounty) you earn something for your efforts. Also, everyone there actually wants to get into a gunfight with you. I can also live with people wanting to stop me doing a mission of some kind. Honestly, it makes those missions more fun when people attack you. It gets boring when you have no opposition and you’re sitting afk waiting out the clock... I’d rather feel a time crunch and want to drop it off as soon as I can or risk failure. but butcher camping, or killing fishermen, or people skinning a deer... absolutely no reason for it other than to annoy other players. No, I don’t report them. But I don’t enjoy wasting my limited online time getting into endless gunfights for no profit either. I’m glad the new bounty system is in place, although I believe it needs some heavy tweaking. At least now there is some kind of risk/consequences to indiscriminate killing for no reason. But my opinion is completely useless in the grand scheme of things. This argument has been going on since before computer gaming was even a thing... Player: ’I kill Bob so I don’t have to cover his 5 copper shortfall on the tavern bill’ DM: ‘you loose all your powers’ Player: ‘This is BS. I’m allowed to do whatever I want! Yeah that’s the whole point of D&D!’ DM: ‘but your a lawful good paladin. And you’ve been acting like a chaotic evil crime lord since the game started’ Player: ‘but how? All I did was rob a store and burn down a village! If I wasn’t supposed to, you should’ve not put the village there’ DM: ‘fine. Rocks fall, everyone dies. I’m going home’
  10. To me at least, griefer needlessly harasses you endlessly for no reason long after you make it clear you don’t want to play his game. They spawn kill you, kill you when you’re stuck in an animation or maybe wait out your ghost to blow your head off the second you spawn back in from a cut scene... and they do it for no other reason than to piss you off. There is (or at least was) no consequence to them and a potentially huge waste of time and money for you. iat least now there are actual consequences for this kind of general di*k behaviour and you’re not out a small fortune of despawned pelts. I can live with that... only you should not be labeled an aggressive player and given a bounty for fighting back. and no, getting shot once or twice isn’t gridding per say... but getting chased across the map and killed over and over until you change lobbies
  11. I don’t think It made the initial release. I think it’s part of the trickledown release for the coming weeks like the Evans repeater and the gold armour free roam event.
  12. Funny you should mention that... I’ve found myself once or twice setting a waypoint, than catching myself wandering towards a red blip instead by mistake while on my travels...
  13. I don’t think the birds are faster, but the varmit rifle is most definitely slower...
  14. I let my 17 month old watch me play... but I don’t think he can grasp what’s going on... he makes woof sounds when he hears a dog in game... seriously though, I don’t think there is that much in the game that can’t be explained to a somewhat mature well balanced young’un. I really doubt RDR2 is going the be the thing that turns him into a pig shagging weirdo that goes around blowing off strangers heads with a sawnoff shotgun and feeding women’s rights activists to alligators, despite what the Puritan wannabe sensors and protestors that go on the news and Facebook want you to believe.
  15. Yeah. I haven’t noticed any butcher thievery since the update. I quite easily made enough money to buy the rare shotgun I wanted (actually, I wanted the standard double barrel, but this one doesn’t have a level requirement). My only regret is not farming cops for a day or two before the update... however I’m considering an experiment in farming bounty hunters... has anyone noticed if you rack up more bounty fighting off the bounty hunters?
  16. You can make A lot more money selling the parts and pelts from a half dozen deer and one carcass/whole animal than hauling them to the butcher one at a time... at least as far as dollars for a half hour time goes. At least from what I’ve noticed, your experience may differ. I also tend to shoot everything that walks, crawls, slithers or flys when I’m riding around... 30 cents is 30 cents after all.
  17. I prefer the cross map method myself... spawn in at Blackwater or something then zig zag cross country from butcher to butcher, killing everything that moves... maybe not the most effective use of my time, but I enjoy the scenery. Also, I tend to go for quantity over quality. If I see a perfect buck I’ll make the effort to keep it that way of course. But I like to start seeing the ‘you can’t take any more parts’ messages before I get to the next sell point. since the update, I have had one bad day where animals seemed to disappear. But today was back to normal for me.
  18. Or a simple who shot first algorithm... that way instigators get a bounty and defenders are free from punishment. And I’m for forcing the other into showdown or whatever it’s called making it a structured activity and free from bounty... or how about the option to ask for a showdown without requiring a violent act first? Select player xX420_rulzXx and have the option challenge to showdown... (as far as I know, that particular player doesn’t really exist)
  19. Yeah, I think this new system needs some tweaking. I’d imagine it’ll come down in the coming weeks. I can’t help but be reminded of almost identical complaints when bad sport lobbies came out in gta V ... “he tried to run me over so I blew up his car... he kept calling more cars so I kept blowing them up... now I’m in the bad sport lobby?”
  20. You get bounties for shooting people in a mission that directly encourages people to attack you? Now that is completely ridiculous... just to to clear it up, the situation is ridiculous, not you lol
  21. Ok... but still, after you kill them they’re easy enough to evade while they respawn, unless you’re a red dot constantly... have you considered maybe that they don’t suck as bad as they do, but are deliberately goading you into shooting them over and over until you rack up enough bounty to snap? Regardless, there is no reason you absolutely have to rack up massive bounties. But I still think if you’re shot at first, you should e exempt from Bounty and aggressive player status for defending yourself
  22. Get close and fire 4 rounds from your duel wielded sawn offs into center of mass... don’t need auto-aim, just be pointing in the general direction of his soon to be corpse....
  23. ....well, you could parlay. I mean, there’s no reason to rack up a massive bounty just because some kid shot at you first. That being said, being shot at/killed should automatically make you exempt from accumulating bounties for actions taken against the shooter and his posse for something like 10 minutes or so...
  24. As someone who does trapping in RL.... this is actually backwards. You make way less selling a whole animal than you would doing the work yourself.
  25. I think my wildlife complaints the other day were premature... or perhaps I flunked onto one of those servers that was still having issues with wildlife. This morning, I did two laps, maxed out on a bunch of items each time, made about the same as I usually do, and got some bonus xp and gold nuggets s for my effort. i do notice things like less plumes from the birds... but the solution to that is just to shoot more birds (which seems trickier since the varmit rifle nerds). But over all, I made enough to buy the fancy overpriced shotgun with money to spare.
