  1. Yeah it means nothing, Especially Gold bars, I was more interested in simply cash earned, not gold. as gold comes in many ways. Although you could compare the same data. it was just an interesting point, who is earning the most per hour in game compared to others, maybe a certain technique over another makes a differece. It doesnt matter how long you have been playing, it all averages out, so in my case for example. I have 3 days 22 hours in game, thats 94 hours in game, I have a total earnings of $7,635.64, which means my average per hour earnings are $81.23 per hour in game on average. Ive earned 11.85 gold bars in that same amount of time, which breaks down too, .126 gold bars per hour in game, lol not very high. Anyway I apparently make around $81 an hour in game on average over all , some days I dont earn hardly anything and other days all I do is earn, but the average is $81 an hour., Cash earned per hour $81.00 Gold bars earned per hour in game, .126 Total time in game 94 hours.
  2. I did not know that, thats interesting, lol.
  3. Then why did they play the mission knowing there is a 50% chance that other players will engage as instructed by the game? The game is set up that way, the same people think it is ok to be a coward and shoot you in the back when you dont expect it at a butcher but are butt hurt that the game told others to stop them and they did. Just makes no sense. Back to the OP. If a player puts himself on call for assassinations, and then is targeted and killed as result, then gets mad at you and seeks revenge, that player is wrong, that player shouldn't just not bother putting themselves in that position if it bothers them. Because then they go out of there way to seek revenge on un-suspecting players who havent done anything wrong, ruining other peoples time in game over your emotions is not cool no matter what and is the biggest problem with this online version of this game. People will alwasy be un-predictable and some will alwasy act like that, its human nature, nothing we can do about it except implement safeguards like the coming soon hostility system, sadly it is needed as some peopel think it is fun to join, harass others for their own amusement and then move on, or play nice with you until they decide to leave, then on their way out , just before they quit they kill you and quit like the true cowards they are, internet brats are very frustrating but I have learned to ignore them, I dont want to fuel their flames, if that makes you happy, your just not the kind of person I associate with and wouldnt in real life or a game. It is too bad we need a system to protect us from those who would just constantly ruin everyone else time, but such is life on this spinning rock. You put yourself out there to be targeted how on earth can you be mad someone killed you?
  4. I get that, to each his own, I understand. Im glad I asked about it, I wasnt aware of how folks felt on this subject and now I have a slightly better understanding of that.
  5. Ok, that is a great point, and I was not aware of that, this is why I love discussing these things. I never played any GTA games so I wasnt aware of their past. I still think on some level that sure since they did it that way in GTA something that was their first inclination here, but I also think this game is leaps and bounds beyond anything that came before and it is ok to expect the unexpected. But I concede you are most likely 100% correct.
  6. Well that was quite a read, so thanks for that. Let's see. First, no I am not trying to create problems for myself or complain at all, lol. I enjoy the game very much and feel it is very detailed, so I like to think of ways to add to that experience,. To me it is all part of living in this era in this place with these people., Sure they are make believe, this is all a game, I know that, but I am playing it to escape for a while to experience life as an outlaw in 1899 or thereabouts, so why not enjoy it and try to help others? I do believe in helping others, especially new players. Think about this, if every new player that came along at this point saw the problems with this game and decided to bail how that would effect us all, the game needs players, all players of all types, so if you dont agree on something or find it useful, that is ok, just move on, you are allowed to skip a post, and if you disagree, you can express that but remember it is not my opinion vs yours here, it is an idea, lets let those who like the idea cultivate it, they arent hunting anyone. I appreciate your concern for my ability to enjoy the game, but I want to enjoy it my own way, just like you, and just like every other person, I would never stand in the way of another person enjoying this game. Not every idea is a good idea, but not discussing it, is a bad idea, from these discussions come many great things, so, if you dont like me or my posts, that is your right and I dont mind at all. We dont have to agree or disagree, there is no right or wrong here, only discuss. Whether you get my idea or think it is stupid its all good. The food share has its place and merit, your play through may be diferent than mine, but I really enjoy elevating people, helping them out, surprising them with kindness. Everytime I have 6 gators at my feet and I see a blue dot, I always let them know, they are welcome to come by and grab one on their way to wherever they are going. I know it is pixels on the ground not real, but it is a game, it feels real at times and so I want to play it like it were real, if that bothers you, I dunno what to tell ya, we disagree about the game, lol so what? You do you, Ill do me, we will both be fine. Im glad to see so much discussion, while we wait for things to improve. you never know what might come of it, but there are no bad ideas or thoughts, as long as hey remain ideas and thoughts to discuss. It isnt about feeling bad for the imaginary animals,it is the experience of feeling like, wasting perfectly good animal carcasses just doesnt sit well with me, and I want to be more conservative and less wasteful. In a world where earning 100$ takes a while, free carcasses you can sell for a few bucks makes perfect sense. If I looked at this game as some do, feelingless pixels I wouldnt be so passionate about the game, Rockstar created an incredible world for us to enjoy, we have an obligation to do our part to imagine the rest and feel apart of the time period, otherwise why bother with all the details and awesome graphics? May as well play a mmorpg on your phone. ( I have no idea what an mmorpg is) sure you can chose to reduce it to its dumbest common denominator and see it only as a shooter, and hey there are game modes within this game that allow you to do just that, and those are really fun, and thats fine, but I see it differently, and I am not alone, so why not take my advice and live and let live, if you disagree, thats fine with me, but why tell me about it? In Free Roam it isnt like any other game, maybe the GTA series since it is the same company I suppose, but this is the evolution of these games in this genre, so some people migth not get he idea of playing the game like we are really living in this map, I try to do just that, and sometimes things like wasting money pop up and I have a thought, lol that is why we have forums, to talk about these things. I dont care that you disagree, lol just go back to the game and skip my post, better yet block me if you dont like my content, it is your choice, I am talking to like minded folks who also have god ideas and we enjoy the idea of "what could be" or "why is it like that" sometimes and i is nice to pay devils advocate sometimes and discuss said things. After all it iis a role playing fantasy game with incredible graphics and amazing details, it makes me think about living in the time, and if I did you can bet your butt I wouldn't leave dead animal carcasses everywhere feeding the vultures and worms, I would probably use a cart, lol but since that is a tough thing to repeatedly do in RDR2O the next best thing is to share the animals with other players who I see out hunting near me, and guess what? they like it too and have taken the carcasses so..... it works.
  7. I keep a laptop on a tv tray, next to me on the couch when I play so I alwasy have my laptop available to me, great for looking up a video or article or something while playing. When I was playing the single payer it was much more important, now I use it when I am bored or to look up something on the fly.
  8. I think #4 over all. After getting to level 26, 3rd tier on all my ability cards, all the weapons I want, and customize all those weapons the way I want them, I am done grinding for cash as my main thing, and now I just want to play missions and try every aspect of the game. I did what I had to to get where I am now and feel good about my character and his ability to fight and hold his own in any mission type. Ill still grind when I need cash, but as far as leveling up, Im done worrying about it now, I cant wait to get to higher levels for many things I want, but now that I have the basics, I am fine with it happening at its own pace based on how I play. So, ill hunt now for big game meat and pick thyme, mint and oregano to keep my satchel stocked, but otherwise after about 4 days in game maybe? and 90% of that spent fishing for cash to upgrade my stuff, I am just gonna jump in to free roam, see whats going on, and where my camp is, and then either clear a hideout, or join a mission and keep doing that until I am bored. Everyone has their own strategy, I play alone, so for me, it was just about being competitive, now that I have familiar weapons I feel good about any situation that might come, when I first started playing, I felt naked and alone, like I had a loin cloth on and a sling shot and with all the red dots running around not knowing what they were dong or migth do, the first 30 hours were pretty intense, it is all settling down now for me anyway.
  9. lol no of course not. I was just saying the few people ive interacted with, but honestly do you think they polled people on this or just did it? Either way, even if they felt the fans want to customize as much as possible why then remove the trapper but make ti so you can buy clothes for Cripps? I just think it is a strange decision is all and ive said every step of the way, it is just my opinion here, thats all. In my opinion I think their time would have been better spent on other aspects of the game than this one particular thing, unless originally Cripps played a different role or something, who knows. With the level of detail this game has, you do expect to be able to customize a lot, and maybe people enjoy spending their money on buying Cripps new outfits, I doubt it, but I dont really know. I cant see a guy who used cash to buy gold then go ahead and use that gold to dress Cripps but again to each his own, I just dont understand it.
  10. Yes, exactly this is what Im saying. as I pass even npc's on the road it would be nice to say hello there, nice horse, lol whatever, something, and yeah man in those missions it kills me the guy isnt programmed to say anything, I mean they know he is saying yes or no, and usually yes. It makes me think, as detailed as this game it, they just ran out of time and some things had to ship as is, and I think this is one of those things. It would have taken a lot of effort and time, then again, someone spent that time programming stuff so we can buy Cripps and outfit, that person might have had their time better served working on character responses. And that brings me to my other thought These are the type of questions I would love to be able to ask developers, I think it would be great, if they would dedicate one person to social media for just this purpose. Once a month either release a video statement of hey this is what we are working on and also we have recieved many questions from users so we are going to run through some of those and try to answer them on this video. Especially a game like this with so many things going on, updates coming, the whole beta thing, plus the sp stuff, etc.. I just think once a month have that or even better have a video Q&A once a month on their youtube channel so people can join and ask away, some feedback from R* as we progress would be great and would also show us they are listening and working on stuff, and maybe they have a reason that we never considered and by explaining it to us we would all have a better understanding of what they are up and hope to achieve. I know its a lofty request, lol but this game has changed the genre, and many aspects of it, so why not change everything and give us an ear, so we can interact with the developers a little more and they can share with us and we can share with them as we do with feedback. Personally I think it woudl go a logn way calming folks down over waiting for updates, and when the Beta will end and the actual release will begin
  11. Well, I agree with you on one part of your point, but I have yet to find a single person tell me they like the ability to dress Cripps. As hard as it is to make money in game it makes no sense to do it, with all the other ways you can dress up the game I think we could have done without this one in particular, but hey, it is just my opinion, to each his own, personally I wont bother as it wont make the game any better for me. Same reason I wont buy lots of things in game, but I understand their place, I get dressing your character, and your horse, and your camp, but an npc that never talks just sits there playing a harmonica or banjo or whatever. This is a game that ran out of time, and money after a year delay and huge budget so to think part of that delay was to dress Cripps it just seems counter productive and a waste of resources to me. If lots of people felt strongly about the ability to dress Cripps up, I am sure R* would have offered it, but again, nobody I have talked to has voiced any such desire yet you can dress him up, I think maybe they had another plan for him and changed it at some point and left the outfits in for us to use in this way. maybe? Those resources might have been better used elsewhere in the game, IMO. I think the only ones dressing Cripps are folks who have been playing from the start, they are at a very high level, bored and have a ton of cash they dont need for anything specific so with disposable income comes things like this, another way to spend your money, but given more content and things to do I cant see anyone really feeling strongly about getting a new outfit for Cripps.
  12. I think the $$ amount is all relative, it needs to be accompanied by the hours in game for example, so if a person made $18,000 in 120 hours and another made $12,000 in 40 hours the $12,000 would be the more impressive number. So I think to get a real feel for it, you need to include at least time in game. So, folks with hundreds and hundreds of hours vs folks with fewer can compare and break it down to a $ per hour ratio. I am not in game right now, Ill add mine later, even though I am only level 26, a total noob, and have fewer than 4 days in game, my dollar per hour ration could still compete with someone that has tens of thousands of dollars already, it isnt the total it is the amount per hour average in game that matters over all. As well as total over all, that is still an interesting number by itself just to see who spent the most in game but it doesnt paint the whole picture. If someone isnt particularly good at grinding for money but they have been in game since day 1, they could have accumulated a lot of money and spent a lot also, but I think it would be interesting to see it both ways, how much over all and how much per hour. I just was able to read the comments on his thread, lol I didnt catch the noob thing til now. I think his point wasnt to insult people, I think what he meant, is lets just see who made and spent the most in game without buying gold with actual cash, only in game earnings count, for his idea. I think he may have worded it in a way that caused some hurt feelings is all. I have no problem with folks buying gold with cash, to each his own 100% some folks cant invest 500 hours into the game but want to play with their buddies and on the same level so, I get it. Others just want to get gold lol and I get that too more power to ya for sure. and hey Rockstar definitely wants you to buy gold, lol. Anyway again, excluding those who purchased gold since you can just buy as much as you want, the point of the post I think, is who earned and spent the most in game from grinding and playing only, no purchased gold. And my point was who did it at the highest $ per hour in game earnings, and who spent the most in game. So for example, Player A made $80,000.00 in 250 hours and spent $76,500.00 with that info we can get an average $ per hour earned in game. Player A made an average of $320 per hour in game over all, thats pretty high and obviously fictitious, I made it up for an example. This is why you have to exclude anyone who purchased because obviously that didnt take time in game to earn, so it wouldnt count in this particular comparison. I still think it is an interesting idea to see who did what and how long it took them and what it breaks down too. Who has the most impressive grinding skills? Who earned the most per hour on average over all? Ill figure mine out later and add it here, Im curious now,
  13. Thanks buddy, I appreciate the reply.
  14. Ive never played GTA, any of them, but I appreciate the answer, I wonder why they bothered investing the time, energy, art, etc.. for something so gratuitous? There are so many other things we could use, and things that need attention and tweaking, I cant imagine who made the decision to spend vital resources and time on outfits for Cripps or the option to purchase them. Did they imagine that at some point we would be so bored, so done with everything else in the game, that we would want to spend some money that we have no other use for on something that offers no return of any kind? We could use trappers and their outfits, it would be nice to have the ability to greet,, defuse, or escalate like we could in sp as Arthur, but now as our characters in game, everything else on mic, but to let our character interact with other npc's and characters, especially on the road while riding by people, I used to enjoy saying hello to people as they went by, anyway I can think of several things we could use more of so it is just frustrating to understand why we have Cripps, and the ability to dress him, it just seems absolutely useless, but took a lot of time to develop and that time coudl have been used for many more interesting/important things. Unless perhaps in the future there will be a purpose and pay off for investing in him, but I doubt it. P.S. after seeing RDR2 I cant wait to see what they do next whether it be a new gta or something all together new and different, they have my attention, I watch the footage online of gta V and it looks really good, but I can only go forward, not back, so I am not going to try it, Ill wait for he next generation of the game to release at some point if that is the plan, I hear GTA V is like 8 years old and thriving online, hopefully RDR2O will last even longer once it finds it stride.
  15. I think you are being too literal for the sake of argument. It doesnt have to be a turkey, there are literally dozens of other animals it can apply too. Let's say wolves then, cougars, bears, whatever, I take out 6 wolves, I take all the pelts but can only carry one carcass, now others can have those left over perfect carcasses. The point is to share rather than waste. Today for example, I wanted to fast travel to Annesburg, from Rhodes, I literally had $1.00 on me, I had to go fishing so I could afford to travel,!! Now, wouldnt it had been nice if there was a food share at the train station that I could have helped myself too for a few bucks to make it simple, there is one example right there when a Turkey carcass would have come in handy. Heck the food share can be placed wherever there is a butcher or a train station or some place that would make sense and also a way folks cant abuse it. You say Turkey's are everywhere and are cheap, I say a new player with only the very basics will gladly take a 3 star turkey carcass, I know I would, I went through hell for $20 at a time when I first started, I woudl have loved a food share. It is not only a turkey, it is saving rather than wasting, something people did very well in 1899, it is about using these animals rather than let them rot on the road for no reason. Again, the idea is more options as a community, more interactions, it all adds to the game, and waste not want not, every turkey adds u,p. I think you either started a long time ago when the game just got started and things were different or you just forgot what it was like your fist day in the game. If you come in to this alone, no posse or friends, it is intimidating, and tough to get started, a food share has its place and would be helpful to some, and it would just make me feel better to not leave good animals on the ground to rot.
  16. I killed 6 turkeys, I skinned then all, then I packed up 2 of them on my horse, I left 4 perfect 3 star turkeys on the ground, I dont know what is confusing you, I am talking about those other 4, or how about this I killed 4 gators, all perfect, I can only carry one, on my horse, the rest just rot, these are valuable to someone who wants to carry one to the butcher, or when I kill several deer I can only carry one carcass on my horse, so what do I do with the other 4 on the ground? See what im talking about now?
  17. lumper

    No camp?

This happened to me again today, the camp just wouldnt initiate, so I just went back to what I was doing for a while and I tried again later, eventaully it did work, took 3 or 4 different tries though.
  18. So, I saw videos online, I think Outlaw Gary did a few, where he would show us what new outfits there were and hats and coats, etc.. How can I see what an item will look like before buying it? I flip through the catalog and I select a coat for example, I press "view" and it shows me squares of the colors available and texture, nut not my in the coat, I want to see what my guy will look like in the various items before I plunk down any cash. I really wasnt even going to buy anything but I figured I may as well learn about what is going on here, I dont own a cold weather outfit, I probably dont need one either but lets say I want to buy one, how can I see what it will look like before I commit to purchase? In single player I bought almost every outfit so I know how to do it, and I know for sure you could see yourself in anything you wanted to buy first, so I am just trying to figure out how to do that online. Thanks for any help
  19. I see all these outfits for cripps, why would I spend any money on Cripps and how he looks? I havent even bought myself any articles of clothing, what am I missing, I dont get why this is even an option, why are we responsible for how he looks and what does it help to dress him up? I was just looking to see what it was all about and I Cant see any reason that makes sense to spend money on outfits for Cripps. To be clear I am a noob, so my little tiny bit of money is going for weapons, weapon upgrades, and ability cards, thats about it, what am I missing here?
  20. Not at all, I disagree, when I am hunting and I cant fit anything else on my horse other than pelts, lets say I wipe out 6 turkeys all 3 star ones, I hate leaving them on the ground, this is for the excess, you arent going to survive if you rely solely on food share, but it can be helpful to some. What about real food shares you think they keep folks from finding other ways to obtain food? it is a supplement is all and a way to prevent waste, bring the community together a little and just one more unique thing that can be added to such a unique game.
  21. Thats smart, I hadnt thought of that. I was thinking about going on mic and asking people if they wanted to kill me for their challenge and visa versa but then I figured id probably regret that, lol so I just skipped it.
  22. Same. Actually I believe yesterday had two kill player challenges, I refuse to take part in either. It needs to be in a situation where the other player has some idea it is coming, so they can partake and prevent it or get a kill out of it without incurring a red dot. The system is just needing tweaking is all. Last night I was fishing, facing the water a player snuck up behind me, tackled me from behind and then shot me and left the game, lol, I dont let that bother me anymore as I cant do anything about it right now, but I am not adding to that chaos and upsetting some other player just trying to enjoy his evening. If we could say let a player know,, I am going to start a fight so they can fight back or defend or get me first, then it would be ok, but just randomly killing people with no motive and leaving them confused and pissed isnt my idea of fun or a good game Maybe a challenge system, where we can select a player to challenge to either a fight, a dual, or just a general shooting, so at least they can accept or ignore would be a god start. Lastly, fist fighting was very common in this time period, way more than shooting. People fought for honor and pride. If you accused a person of cheating, you were gonna have to back that up with your fists, everytime, same with calling a man a coward, you are 100% fighting, so this needs to be more present in the game, challenge a player to a fist fight, and then duke it out, and not to the death, ll just til one concedes or is knocked out.
  23. Surviving out here depends on some helping hands at times, and we are a community and neighbors out there, so it only makes sense. It would be nice in so many ways. Trade goods between players is a good idea in general the food share is a good way to stop wasting so much and to help others just starting out; I think more importantly R* doing anything that brings us together vs tearing us apart would also be helpful. Working on hostility systems and anti griefing while at the same time encouraging and rewarding players for killing other players randomly without warning is sending mixed signals and needs some clarity. I think they should direct those challenges t npc's only or players who have selected to be "on call" or have elected to play offensively, right now that isnt an option and players killing other players without warning causes lots of problems that would end by tweaking these challenges until the hostility system is in place.Anyway the thinking was, a good way to bring a sense of community to the free roam aspect of the game, when we arent in a game mode or mission.
  24. So, I was thinking, and yes I submitted it to R* feedback. It would be nice to have a food share. Today for example, I had to make a choice and in the end I had to leave a 3 star turkey on the ground to rot, instead I noticed a blue dot near me, so I sent him a note and told him, if you want it, I am leaving it here, on the road. I cant see wasting it. then it occurred to me, it would be nice to have several designated food share locations, where you can elect to send your extra food, or a way to designate it to a player. Player trading and assisting should be a thing, with all the hunting we do, it just makes sense. I thought maybe leave a food share bin at several locations around the map, or have an option that allows you to either designate an item for the local share or to the nearest players. that way a player can alwasy check a food share to see if there is anything in there he or she needs and also be able to use those pelts and carcasses we cant carry, this could also be rewarded with an xp or honor boost for taking part in contributing, or low honor for taking from it, I dunno I think in there is an idea.
  25. I suppose that is because in those type missions other players can attack and get involved, and the longer you are active the more likely that is going to happen? So the longer it takes you the more likely you will have to defend? thus more xp? I really wish game developers would make short videos explaining to us in person what they were thinking and why when things like this are questioned so we not only get what to do to best manage our time, but why they did it that way and what they were thinking, I think that would be remarkably helpful. I learn something everyday and I will surely die stupid.
