  1. I took one out and when we got to my stop I just waited, and eventually it took off again while I was still on it, so I stopped it on the bridge so nobody could get off and cops couldnt get to us, now I wasnt doing that challenge at the time, I was doing something else, but the idea is you can take control of the train and just look out for flocks of birds, stopping in a tunnel north of Annesburg or on any bridge will help your escape.
  2. have you sen the rdr2map? rdr2map.com I think I paid the $5 to have the full features, you can add notes to places you find, like cave entrances not shown on the map, and stuff like that plus it is great when you are stuck and looking for something and you just cant find it. IGn also has a map and a huge reference site set up like this one, and of course youtube. with all the people playing the game, I feel like we have pretty much found everything at this point. but who knows?
  3. The best advice I can give you is slow down, just cover 100% of the areas that you are in, rather than find a fast way to travel, just try to get to your destination without too many distractions, lol. Often you will find a stranger missions you didnt expect, or an animal that doesnt spawn a lot like a moose, etc.. So many things to miss by trying to cover the map too early or too quickly. If you set a few goals those goals will inevitably uncover the map for you. Like getting the satchel upgraded to the fullest one early on makes a huge difference in the game, being able to hold 99 items over 3 kind of helps, ALOT. So for that you have to do some specific hunting, and to get the animals you need you will get around, also, you need the buck trinket early on to get better quality pelts, especially in chapter 2 when the weapon selection is light, another good tip, go to the gunsmith and get a scope on your repeater or whatever rifle you do have to help with head shots and perfect pelts early on. anyway if you say decide to get the trinket, get the satchel upgraded, and stock up on big game and thyme, mint, and oregano so you can stock up in a big way, you will get the flow going of exploring, while accomplishing a goal, while also running into strangers, chance encounters, and other cool things, before you know it you will have the map uncovered and you will also be having a very full experience by doing multiple things at the same time.
  4. It is easy to miss some, you really have to explore and get around alot in chapter 6 as you did in chapter 2 and 3, problem is by chapter 6 things are getting tense, the law is everywhere, it is easy to not get away from camp and keep exploring. Some of my favorite side missions are in chapter 6 like Hamish the veteran, and others. You should be able to load an old save and go find the people you need to start the mission.
  5. You may need to address this to R* support, either they can help you play the same save on another machine, if that is possible or not., When you load the game after downloading it, did you look into the save screen to see if you had any saves there to load?
  6. I was able to catch them all as Arthur and same with the legendary animals. They may have patched it, but if not, you can just replay the mission in chapter 3/4 where you go to Bronte's mansion in St Denis to rescue Jack, part of the missions has you go to the cemetery, when you are sneaking out, you have to be seen by at least one officer, and then escape and finish the mission, once you do that, you were able to then ride to blackwater or new austin or anywhere you want with no problem, it worked for me. Problem is, if you catch those fish as Arthur, you will not get the invite from Gil. Rather you will have to wait until you finish the first part of the epilogue, then John will get the invite and you can proceed.
  7. From Shady Belle with Charles and Uncle. Its a straight forward, very simple one with high rewards, maybe the easiest one, I think because it is a bonus and meant to assure you some $$
  8. Moose are tricky, I saw one by The Dakota river near Cumberland falls, another just east of the Wapiti indian res at the lake, I saw one at Lake Owijilla, and you can usually find one up at Lake Elizibeth I think or Cairn, one of those wintery frozen lakes you will find a big white moose, I saw a white one, a brown one with redish brown antlers, it was massive and beautiful and then one just what I would call normal, and all are very impressive, I have seen on;y the ones I mentioned in three very lengthy play through's. Bison on the other hand are very easy to find. You can either follow the tracks from Valentine to Rhodes and keep an eye out, you will see them near the tracks or a little east of the tracks, also, between Valentine and emerald ranch where the wild horses are you will see them, you do two separate missions in this area, one for the photographer and one for Mary Linton's brother, anyway in that area, there are ALWAYS bison's.
  9. I found some orchids, for example the ones at the Appleseed timber co were not there until the epilogue, the others were there over by Owijilla, but then others behind Ocreaghs were not during chapter 3/4 either. SO I think some are there during the earlier missions and some are not.
  10. In my third play through, I had no fire for crafting until we completed the story missions with Sadie and Charles, and after all that, it was there. So for the previous part of the epilogue I just left Beechers and crafted elsewhere, til I was stocked up really well then I came back to Beechers and ran out the missions. I went to the swamp and picked up Arthurs cash from the Pig Farm, then, I went and used gators for big game meat and used my upgraded satchel to stock up on thyme, oregano, and mint, and crafted for two days, so I had at least 50 of each in stock, so when I went on bounty missions or any missions really I had no trouble with dead eye, which if you dont stock up can be very challenging.
  11. You can get the pipe before Dutch asks for it, I had it on me for 2 chapters before he finally brought it up, he was the last item I was waiting to give, and I almost gave up on him. If you didnt pick it up in the cabin, just go back and look around for it.
  12. After you get through the epilogue you will have a home with a room to change and one to shave, what is odd and kind of sucks and makes no sense. You have a bathroom and it has a tub, but you can not take a bath at your own house!! you can shave, you can change clothes, and sleep, but not bath or shower. And this is one of those things I think they just ran out of time. Otherwise it just doesnt make sense.
  13. The only way to get south of Blackwater that I know of and not be hunted, is to play the chapter 3 mission, I think it is chapter 3, where you go to Bronte's mansion to get JAck back, in that mission one of the tasks you have to complete is search the cemetery and not be seen, But if at some point you are seen by police, yet you still escape and live, to finish the mission, afterwards when it is all over, for some reason, you can then travel to Blackwater or any other part of New Austin and nobody will hassle you. Now I read that this was patched, so I am not sure if you can still do this or not. When I did it, it worked perfectly. UPDATE: So once I got to the epilogue and was able to free roam, I had some mail, and it was the invite from Gil, which is odd, since John never met Gil, or sent him any fish. anyway, the story went on as it should and left me as John at Rio Bravo. SO I guess R* never recorded script from Arthur in case anyone did this, and the game is a bit linear in that respect as far as this fishing legendary fish is concerned. Im sure even though they had the budget and time allowances they had, that they still woudl have loved more time and more money, the game as awesome as it is, has many areas where I think hmm it woudl be nice if... and then I think, I bet they wanted that, but..... I cant wait to see what the future holds.
  14. I have said all along, the prequel's prequel needs to be next. Let's see a 15 year old Arthur meet up with Hosea and Dutch in NY and see things go from there up til Blackwater and the things that were going on during that time, like Hosea and Arthur's real estate scam, etc.. and also, it would be nice to see at what point Bill and Micah join the gang after Arthur. So many times when Bill says something like, questioning Arthur's loyalty or calling him a traitor I wanted Arthur to remind ole Bill that Arthur has ridden with Dutch longer than any of them and they should take heed in his feelings / warnings about dutch acting strange and derailed. Id also like to see them re-map the first game, RDR with this engine graphics, physics and compendium, I mean they already did all the work, its their, so it is simply a matter of taking what they have and putting it to this engine, despite the fact that it would take a lot of work and cost money, I dont think it would cost nearly as much as it would to develope from scratch and as a result, the sales dont need to be like RDR2 but I think the core players would buy the game again if it were redun like this game, I know I gladly would, but I also know Im dreaming, I would just love to go from RDR2 right into RDR and not change anything, I want to go from Beechers as it is and go with the agents to start rdr. I bought rdr over again to play it after playing this game and lovong it so much, and I just can not get into it, the fauna especially everything unfortunately is too dated and limited compared to rdr2, on its own, it looks great, but after playing rdr2, it is super hard to get into anything less.
  15. Ive played it all the way through 3 times, this last time I still have a lot to do as John,,but I did a lot as Arthur,, all dino bones, rock carvings, dream catchers, legendary animals and fish, Algernon Wasp, all side missions, chance encounters, stranger missions, I only did one hunter request, and about half the challenges, anything that would lower honor I left for John to do, and I still have yet to do them, but I must have 200 hours in this play through at least, Ill check later, and my previous play throughs werent as long. Ill keep going with this playthrough until I have done everything, seen everything accomplished everything I can. I love the game, this is exactly why I bought an Xbox one X to see native 4k graphics at 30 fps and up, and this game was it, the first time I really got to see this console put to the test, and it is amazing!!!
  16. I found that without robbing anyone, without doing a single store robbery, or train robbery, etc.. only doing the treasure hunts, and mission robberies that you can do with various gang members along the way I was able to get up to $13,000 after spending over $5000, so about $18,000.00 and most of it by chapter 4. A very important part of this, is the satchel, by the end of chapter 2 I had the full satchel upgraded so now I can hold 99 of things, instead of 3, this makes a world of difference. The swamp is very lucrative and if you do the Algernon Wasp stuff and complete it, you will have a lot of extra stuff, cigarette cards are free all over the world and you can sell those for $2 each at the fence so pick them up, I used a store to get the challenge complete but afterwards, I grabbed every single one I can find in the world and sell them, plus the gator eggs $2.50 each, at the butcher I think, heron plumes also, so while I was in the swamp, I used gators to accumulate "big game" meat, and I would craft until I had 50/50/99 of big game meat with mint, oregano, and creeping thyme, you can do this very easily by doing herbalist challenges along the way and stocking up on all three of those, and never use any of those on any other meats, only "Big Game" so that you always can craft more until you are full, once I did this, I never had to hunt again until I was playing as John in the Epilogue and of course, I just went to the swamp after grabbing Arthurs money from the Pig Farm, and stocked up real quick. Anyway by doing these challenges, stocking up on the gator eggs and plumes whether you need them or not will also make you good money, this along with treasure hunting, grabbing loot along the way, looting every body I found, etc.. I was able to make a lot of cash and keep a very high honor rating and I saved the bandit, sharpshooter, and survivalist challenges for John, Arthur did the hunter, most of the herbalist, some of the gambler, and one other I forget, plus the legendary animals, fish, rock carvings, dreamcatchers, dinosaur bones, and every available side missions except the last Strauss missions that I missed by accidentally waiting too long to start it., so this formula made Arthur a ton of money so he was able to leave $13000 to John. Right now as john I have $30,000 and I have easily spent $5000.00 already so closer to $40k and I believe the treasures and loot spots reset for the epilogue and if so, thats another $15000 out there waiting for me to go get. I really enjoyed this playthrough and now in the Epilogue I feel like there is so much to see and do yet and stories to finish with John that make sense and it is nice having a lot of cash to do it with.
  17. These doors will be open in the Epilogue part 2, on your way by there, you should run into a women screaming for help, if you do, she will explain that her husband is in trouble and some men are trying to force him to sell or something, so if you accept her request to help her, then you rush there and find two men hassling her husband in the basement and you can save him, if you do, he thanks you and leaves looking for his wife, I looted the two men but didnt find anything unusual and there wasnt much of anything in the root cellar. I went here earlier with Arthur but everything was locked and nobody was around.
  18. Sorry this turned out so long, I love this freakin' game I found this MrBoss FTW video as well after my first two play throughs, so I decided on my third I would try it and just imagine that Arthur decided to stash it there, and tell John when handing him all his stuff, to go look for it when things cool down or something. I think passing along his money makes sense, so I dont think of it is a glitch or cheat, more of a choice. I chose to do a third and final play through because after the first run through to see the story unfold I missed most of everything else, I had no idea how to play an open world game, honestly so the second time, I just ran around looking at everything I missed but not in any order that made sense or lent to the story, so.... The third time, I decided to try to organically see everything while playing the story mode, doing the challenges, all stranger missions, chance encounters, etc.. the only thing I missed out on this final play through, was the final Strauss missions, and kicking him out of camp, the first time I did it as soon as it was available and everyone in camp was pissed at me, even my friends, so this time I thought, Ill save it til the end, well, turns out of you dont do it before the 3rd to the last mission you cant do it at all, I wish I had realized that, but oh well, it was just a little more honor and Arthur already had like 99% high honor in my play through so... Either way this time my game was great, very long and full, Arthur did all the hunting, gathering, survival stuff but none of the bandit, sharpshooter, or weapons expert stuff, I figured at one point in the story Arthur starts toward redemption, and it wasnt appropriate to have him doing bad things, whereas John will do all those bandit challenges that Arthur missed out on. Arthur did all the rock carvings, legendary fish, and animals, dino bones, dreamcatchers, cigarette cards, all the satchel upgrades and half of the challenges, and even two of the hunter requests and all of Algernon's exotic requests. John only has points of interests, shacks, easter eggs, like vampires, bigfoots, hermits, tree kings, etc.. to experience. Anyway to me, it felt great splitting these things up based on where in the story I was and what we were doing. The satchel upgrades in chapter 2 made the game a whole different experience for me, being able to load up 99 big game with creeping thyms, mint, and oregano made it so once you stocked up, you never had to hunt big game again, for the rest of the game. I had never gone to the Pig Farm in any play through's because I just never ended up near it or had a reason to go, I knew from videos what happened, but I didnt want to go force it just to see it, I figured if I am near it at some point and they invite me in or whatever, then Ill do it, so this time, I decided to do it just before the final two missions of chapter 6. It worked out great, I left $12,940.00 in there, so it was a good day for John when he takes that first ride and the music plays, instead of going to Blackwater we went to Lemoyne. It is one of the small things I thought given more time they might have done more with in the game, having a safe place for Arthurs money during the game, liek a safe deposit box in a bank, or a chest where he can leave stuff from his satchel, etc.. Anyway great find, I havent finished the epilogue this time yet so I dunno how it will all play out, but I assume making those payments will be a breeze now.
  19. So just to recap this post. The "Faded Letter" explains what really happened to the gold nearly 100 years prior to 1899. Back in 1806 a Braithwaite was in love with a Gray much like the two youngsters Arthur helps out in chapter 3, anyway and these two through correspondence decided to use the families gold supply to finance their efforts to sway members of congress to influence lawmakers to abolish importing slaves. So the Gold that Hosea and Dutch wanted to find and steal, the gold that the Gray family was holding a grudge against the Braithwaites over and visa versa was spent 93 years earlier for a noble cause unbeknownst to the remaining family members. Yes there is one gold bar in the mansion that after chapter 3 can be looted, however, the myth of Braithwaite gold is just that, in chapter 3 several different people will discuss it, including the deputy and Sheriff Gray too, they arent sure about it and explain how nobody remembers quite what happened to start this fight, other than accusing eachother of stealing the others gold.
  20. In chapter 4 like first thing you do from Shady Belle since it is so close, is ride up to the burnt mansion and walk in where the body is, if you are facing the front door so to speak, the gold is to the left of the corpse, behind a partial wall that is still standing, dont take your time though or run, otherwise they will start in on you, I was able to ride up, I waited at the gate brushing my horse until the two armed guards walked away, then I just walked in slowly, grabbed it and walked back to my horse and left, no issues.
  21. Ahh ok, thanks, I remember that now, not sure if I did this time or not, like I said the icon was there and then later when I was ready to check it out, it was gone as was my temp horse, that part still bugs me, I cant imagine where my shire went, he was tied up at Shady belle while I was out on my other horse, actually I left with two horses, the cow patterned appaloosa and my Mis Trotter, I figured id leave the shire there and use him in the swamp to finish the Agernon wasp stuff, but alas, its gone, I finished Wasp despite that I just used my thoroughbred, that came with the limited edition or special edition, I forget what it was called.
  22. Well, I figured it out. Im really surprised nobody commented. Well, turns out I was just being hasty and not paying attention. I had to use the poison arrows and knives I had in stock to be able to make more, DOH! Got it., Lump
  23. Hmm, I hadnt noticed, let me look and Ill let ya know. Im in chapter 4 myself. I did notice one peculiar thing, I had an extra horse, a temp horse I guess you would say, and one day when I came back to camp it had an icon on it, it was a "U" so I looked at it closer and it said, "rustling" and Uncle, so I thought, hmm thats wierd, it didnt do that on my other or any other horses. So I was about to leave on a missions, and figured hen I get back, ill look at that rustling icon and see what happens, but when I got back, the icon and my temp horse were both gone. Id like to know what the heck happened. I did bring back another temp horse from that mission I had left on, all I can figure is the game wont let you have more than two horses at camp and only one temp horse, ? If so, ok, but I really was hoping to find out what the rustling thing was going to be, after the mission I left to go on that left me with an extra horse, I sold the extra horse, as I already had both arabians a Trotter, and the thoroughbred dappler I got for buying the limited edition.
  24. I've got around $10,000 and Im in the middle of chapter 4, I am going to try this. After spending about $3000 on horses, clothes, weapons upgrades, etc.. I really dont have any need for cash and ive got just under $10k This is my third play through, in my previous play through's I never went to the Aberdeen Pig Farm, I knew what was going to happen, but I never had an organic opportunity to go and I felt like going just to make it happen was kind of lame, but this time, just before I play the final mission I will stop in there and let my money be taken, if it works it would be very helpful in the early parts of the epilogue. The Epilogue can be a little slow, and some might even say boring, but how cool would it be to have 10k$ to play with as John early on ? I can buy that horse in Blackwater, and anything else John needs to do the epilogue missions. PS: I saw this on youtube a few days ago, maybe a week now, either Mrboss ftw or outlaw Gary I cant remember.
  25. Did you read my post? There is no gold, we know that, this letter explains why there is no gold, what happened to the gold. That is why I posted it and said "Found an interesting note about Braithwaite gold." This is why the note is interesting.
