You have disconnected from the server do to Rockstars fault...
CosmoKramer replied to lumper's topic in Troubleshooting
Had a couple of disconnects last night but I accept the game is in beta and this stuff happens - hell the other night I was disconnected and it wasn't even R*, it was my ISP's fault. You could also be unlucky enough to get a power cut when your horse is loaded with stuff. Never leave it too long before visiting the butcher! I know its always nice walking away from the butcher having earned well into triple figures but to do that you probably wasted a bunch of stuff you couldn't carry too so I tend to just get the big ticket stuff I can stow on the horse then whatever else I pass and sell up and start over. Grinding $ really isn't that hard in this game. By the way, you only have to die in order to fix a glitched butcher, not leave the server and find another. Or just fast travel to another town. -
This is precisely my problem with the daily challenges and the dot system in general - it encourages you to be the aggressor knob towards everyone on the expectation they will be the same or to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and end up the victim, hogtied on the ground, missing your head 90% of the time. Yesterday was a perfect example - I did a load of hunting in New Austin and rode towards Blackwater to sell up when suddenly every dot on the screen was out to ride after me and kill me. Immediate thought was bloody griefers but a bit later that it occurred to me these were likely just regular players wanting to trigger feuds for the daily challenge. A bit later my brother and I were doing the countering a stranger mission task on each other but one was taking a wagon into Valentine so of course we encountered other players and had to treat them all as aggressors and shoot on sight, no doubt appearing as griefers to at least one guy, who in retrospect, I don't think wanted anything to do with the mission. I let him revenge kill me after the mission ended and went on my way. My brother attempted to initiate feuds with a couple of the players by killing them again but they weren't interested so probably just thought he was a di*k. We generally clear off the PvP tasks with each other but lately there seem to be more and more which you can't do with just 2 of you or in the PvP modes, making free-roam into grief-roam. Anyone know, by the way, what the cool-off time is for initiating or accepting a feud with the same player? evilcd - I think the reason missions pay out more the longer you take is because R* were kind of burned by certain missions in GTAO being exploited by players finding ways to complete the best paying missions in really short order and then just grinding them over and over earning millions within hours of gameplay. You could argue thats poor mission design and a lazy solution or perhaps just acceptance that people will always find a way to work the system. It was a better solution than just removing those missions (which they also tried) for those of us that liked the variety of the missions and just wanted to play them normally.

I believe animals are just graded small/medium/large when it comes to XP awarding. Birds are your best bet as they can easily be taken down in groups and award the same as a medium animal. Hunting is better for grinding $ than for XP although it does rack up the XP over a time, especially when you add in the XP for the awards you can get from it.

I’m assuming he was referring to the whole thread of replies since he last read it but yes I did have to chuckle at the length of the response.

Bang on 👍

Yeah a lot of the animals and herbs can be found in roughly the same areas in RDO as RDR2. There are some differences and, as said above, spawn rates are a lot lower. I’ve seen very few cougars in online, one in a place I really wasn’t expecting and was totally surprised when I skinned it to find it was a cougar and not a wolf. I’ve seen 1 panther and that was in Stillwater Creek.

What do you enjoy about the online game (how do you play) ?
CosmoKramer replied to Voss's topic in Red Dead Online
I like a good rampage against the law or Del Lobo and then spend a couple of sessions hunting to restore my honour level. Solo - hunting/hideouts/working on awards. Posse - stranger missions/replay story missions. -
Given GTAO was exactly the same I'm sure it was a conscious decision not to have any character dialogue from the outset in RDO. If they had put it in there would just be endless complaints of lack of variety to the responses or phraseology or differentiation/customisation for the accent. It's a can of worms I can well imagine they just wanted to keep closed.

I don't feel the least bit bad about leaving a pile of pixels to go to waste on the ground personally. The "animals" spawned from nothing a few seconds before I got there, its not like they've been nutured for years before I came along. Also I wouldn't really want some carcass that somebody already cherry picked the good bits from, even for free. In all seriousness though I get where OP is coming from with the suggestion, I just really don't think it has a place in this game.

Hopefully they've just taken it away to revamp it based on feedback received and we'll see it again sometime soon... edit: had it pop again once yesterday so it’s not been removed, just very infrequent.

Had it twice last Saturday but not seen it once since.

Developing outfits for Cripps doesn't come at the expense of developing game functionality you mention - they would be completely different company resources working on them. And as said above, some people appreciate that level of customisation in a game. I'm not one of them but each to their own.

Not a waste if you want to complete some of the awards more quickly than would otherwise be possible, and its a cheap way of getting the special ammo bonus xp per kill. I don't regret buying that pamphlet at all. Just not sure why you have to pay someone $400 or so for a slip of paper to tell you to take a knife to the tip of your bullets but then they had no youtube or reddit in the late 19th century...
-
Yeah, I should have pointed out that I'm lvl 63 and have only found a couple that way so far.
-
They made a joke of this in GTAO - Trevor would make comments about your character's lack of speech when you completed missions for him.
-
Not sure how many it's possible to get this way but I have gotten pamphlets from treasure chests. Unfortunately I've gotten the same one twice that way (Special Horse Stimulant). Holding off purchasing them from a fence as long as possible in case I get lucky again. I did buy the split point ammo pamphlet though, to accelerate the crafting and collection from delivery box award progression.

Sometimes picking fast they register and sometimes even picking slow (like yesterday I went and picked a different herb between each mushroom) they don’t. It’s broken, plain and simple. I just accept every day now that I’m going to need to find at least 3 clumps of herbs to pick enough for the award.

Had the challenge pop up for me earlier, fortunately right as I was finishing selling to a butcher. Was really good fun actually, I hope they keep it in the rotation and increase its frequency. Didn’t see exactly how much I won from it but I think I got a decent wedge of cash and you keep all your catch so I walked away with 9 salmon. Only bad thing is, as mentioned above, you all spawn in that spot at the end so easy pickings if anyone is of a mind to rampage.

I only received the care package for fishing today - that's 3 days too late then...

There's a lot of scope still for period 'correct' activities and events to be added to online so I really hope we don't get a repeat of all the ridiculous (and massively overpriced) content that ruined GTAO.

That's what I thought, thanks for clarifying. VampireKrush - it's only 0.2 gold each reset (about what, $5? value). No gold mine. The value in doing it is really the XP. Some of the awards are so easily done (within the natural course of playing the game) it'd be a shame to only be able to do them once. Others I'm not sure I'll achieve once, let alone 10 times. Great thing is that however you choose to play the game there are awards which will suit your style.
-
You get the XP for the reset? I thought you just got 500XP for completing the challenge? Seems my selling products to the butcher award is bugged in not resetting for a fourth time as I know others have gone past 3. Not sure what joy I’ll get out of R* but will make a report of it.

Got targeted for assassination last night for the first time, while my posse was holed up defending itself against lawmen. We were basically sitting ducks to player enemies but stood our ground and accepted the inevitable. I lost a few things from my horse but that's just part of the game, I have no problem with that or any player attacking or killing me with a valid reason to do so, I don't see that as griefing.
-
I think the Feb update increased the gold payout to 0.2 - that's what I've always been getting and maybe what led people to thinking the payout was increasing on subsequent resets. I thought 10 was the reset limit as that's what I hit on one of the awards but then last night selling products to the butcher wouldn't reset after a third count. The reset button is highlighted and it makes the reset noise but the award doesn't actually reset. Can anyone confirm if this is bugged or the limit for that award is actually 3?
