  1. Same here. I remember the cutscene in the trailer where they are breaking Arthur out of a jail, which I'm certain I never encountered in my play through. Anyone know what mission that was from?
  2. I'm still only about 90% of the way through the story, but am definitely looking forward to a second play through already. There are a few things I can think of that I would like to do differently or things I missed.
  3. The random encounters we have with some of the NPC's - do we only have one opportunity to do those? I was riding along when I heard this woman shouting that she wanted to race me. I couldn't be bothered at the time as I had other things I wanted to do so I ignored her. If i go back to that area at some point later will I have that opportunity again, or do you only get one chance to do those sort of things?
  4. When you get on a cart try whistling your horse as you drive off, it should follow the cart.
  5. Thanks for the tip. I never even thought about using dead eye in hunting! I've only been using it in shootouts. I haven't unlocked the red critical points yet but hopefully it'll make things a bit easier when i do.
  6. It took me a while to get used to it, not just gunplay but just the way that Arthur moved. He's so slow! It was really noticeable in the few hours but now i've played a bit more it doesn't feel so bad.
  7. is that just for wizzing through the main story? I'm about 20+ hours in and 25% through the story so far, thats with concentrating mainly on missions
  8. There has been a couple of missions where it has landed me in the middle of nowhere out of radius of my horse, so I had to sprint it all the way to the nearest town to retrieve my horse from the stable. It only took about 5 minutes to run there and also gave my stamina level a big boost, so I saw it as a good thing, but I can understand why others would think it is a pain. Other than that, I haven’t really felt like there is any need for a fast travel option. I’m quite happy just roaming around everywhere on horseback at the moment. As I get further into the game I might change my mind, but at the moment I'm happy.
  9. Thanks. Sounds like I just need to be more patient then! I've been spending majority of my time doing the missions so think I need to spend a few hours just out in the wilderness and practice.
  10. I’m struggling to get to grips with hunting. I do eagle eye to find the line of the animal, press RB to follow it but the line is so faint on the floor I can barely see it. If I injure an animal and it runs off, it runs in all sorts of directions and circles, so it’s then impossible to track because the lines are all overlapping. What am I doing wrong? Anyone got any tips?
  11. I don't understand it either. I guess the problem is the increase in the popularity of streaming. Early gameplay vids are so easily available now. Some people unfortunately can't help themselves but watch and will likely regret it later. I certainly will not be seeking out any such gameplay videos. In less than 24 hours time I will have finished work for the week and will be playing the game. After all the waiting, speculating, delays, its finally here! I still cannot quite believe it, i feel like i'm running on adrenaline at the moment i'm that excited!
  12. I’ve watched about 3 or 4 very short clips, no more than 30 seconds each. I did come across a video of him walking through the snowy mountains but I think it was of a mission so I quickly clicked off it (I am stronger than I thought!). I don’t mind short clips of non-spoiler gameplay but not missions.
  13. From what i've heard/picked up from the various previews, your horse will stay where you left it and you will have to go and retrieve it. You will only be able to whistle it if its within a certain radius of you. The better the bond you have with your horse, the wider that radius is.
  14. Theres also a screenshot going round of the actual in game map although majority of it is fogged over. Think I’m going to have to un-follow the #RDR2 hashtag. Luckily there’s been nothing major that’s been posted so far but as we get further into the week who knows what may come up.
  15. I came across a 24 second clip of gameplay on Twitter which looks very much like legit gameplay. It seems some people have managed to get hold of the game early and are posting footage online. Just be careful when browsing social media, Youtube etc as there maybe spoilers out there.
  16. I think the whole 100 hour working week thing has been taken totally out of context. I read this article where employees came out on social media to have their say about it which basically confirms that any overtime is optional and they are paid for it. Source: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-10-18-rockstar-allows-employees-to-speak-out-on-100-hour-week-controversy I guess its like any job that you are passionate about, you are prepared to put the hours in needed to get the job done.
  17. I never played that game either, so even if any of the characters did make an appearance I wouldn’t be able to make that connection. I only know of Red Harlow and that’s only because I saw his name pop up in a forum post and googled it to see who they were talking about.
  18. We are down to single digits now... 9 days.
  19. I agree, i think the guidelines on any completion time for a game is subjective depending on each person’s playstyle. I plan on taking my time with this game, exploring all the towns and landscapes and taking part in all the side activities. Some people have said that they don’t want to spend time taking care of the camp, so likely won’t bother much with things like hunting and fishing. That’s the sort of thing I plan on getting deeply involved in. Its a shame that with the release of online coming soon after, I think a lot of people may end up rushing through the story in order to finish it before online is released.
  20. I never really thought about how much additional space RDR online would take up after initial release. Will there be an option to not download the online element? i have no intention of playing online so would be pretty annoyed to have a ton of storage used up for something I will never use.
  21. Reading through this as someone who doesn’t play online, I am interested to hear from others what makes online gaming such a draw to people? Some of the comments on this thread sum up the exact reason I don’t play online. Paying money or cheating just to stay competitive, getting robbed by people you were just trying to help, people that are 100 levels above you blowing you up with their super weapons and gadgets. I honestly don’t see what's fun about that.
  22. A good question! For a full price game I would probably say if it hits at least the 50 hour mark then I would be happy, BUT, what I also look for in a game is replayability. If I can enjoy another playthrough then that for me is the difference between it being a good game to being a great game. Its not actually very often I buy a new game (I’m probably more of a casual gamer) but before I do buy a new game I tend to research it first, read reviews, watch a few gameplay videos, to make sure I know its something I will enjoy.
  23. I heard that they had 3 DLC’s planned for GTA5’s single player campaign, one for each of the three characters. They then scrapped them to focus all their efforts on online. Whether it is true or not I don’t know, but it did seem strange how they had quality DLC’s for RDR1 and GTA4, yet nothing for what was their biggest game yet. As someone who doesn’t play online I sincerely hope that they don’t go down the same route with RDR2. I read through the comments on a few of Rockstar’s Facebook posts and it seems a lot of people were pissed about it. The single player fanbase is still strong. I didn't know online had been delayed?
  24. As a newcomer to the series it may actually make sense for them to play the games backwards, so RDR2 first then play RDR1. The only problem being that it will feel like a major step backwards in terms of gameplay and graphics, but from a story perspective it would link up nicely, especially if, as has been speculated, we end RDR2 playing as John Marston. It is a unique opportunity that majority of us wouldn’t get to experience as we have played the original already.
