  1. I did that one after completing the story in Fort Mercer. I think it's a gang hideout cuz they're all hostile and always respawn after leaving and returning. Just had to piss them off and wait for enough to gather in the entrance. Seems easier to do with the people carrying rifles. I've somewhat lost interest in online. I'll still hop on every once in a while and do some missions, hunting etc., but since it's not officially out of beta, the rest of the missions and features arent available yet so not as interested in the grind right now. Only 41 right now, probably wont break 50 for another month if it's still gonna be beta then
  2. There might be a way for it to keep from kicking you for inactivity. I know resting at the fire in your camp does. I've sat at it, went away for a couple hours, come back and I'm still sitting there, albeit in cinematic mode. Not sure if resting outside the camp does the same, or possibly while you're interacting with something, like the catalogue as cadashka suggested.
  3. I used my headset the first few weeks of beta, but would keep my mic muted unless I got with a group that was communicating. I'll cough or clear my throat a lot, make my own chewing or other noises (i.e. the things that make me cough), and people don't need to hear that. As people have said, most the time there's just silence, but after a while, unless I would posse up with some friends, I stopped even putting my headset on. More often than people communicating, I would come across people blaring their music, eating something really crunchy, kids constantly screaming into the mic (this ones probably worse now after Christmas), or just have a broken mic that causes a constant squelch. For most activities, you can get by without communication as long as people aren't complete idiots, but it definitely does help, and usually makes it more interesting.
  4. Ya, camps have been broken since Day 1 of the Online Beta. They seem to be less broken now than they were, but still quite broken. I've been getting my camp where I ask for it more, lately, but still in the wrong place more often than not. If I move it and it goes to the wrong place, I don't try again until after I do a few more missions. I also try to avoid selecting areas that tend to get moved a lot, like I stopped asking for it in the Heartlands, since it never moved it there when I want it to. Guess that's a popular I still think it's related to how many people have their camp setup in that area, and there's only a set number of locations. But if that is the case, it should tell you that location is full and have you choose another, and not randomly place it on the wrong side (e.g. set's it in Bayou Nwa, Lemoyne, when I wanted it in Gaptooth Ridge, New Austin) and charge you anyways. For the most part, I only use my camp if I really need to cook some food/potions, or if I spawn after a mission and it happens to be close by. I'd imagine camps will be even more useless once we can buy cabins, homesteads, etc. Would be ridiculous if those ended up moving like the camps do, they should work similar to the apartments in GTA:O.
  5. This has me picturing some of the old Crash Bandicoot levels, where the camera changes so you can watch the big boulder or whatever chasing you and you just have to outrun it. Definitely would be more tense when you're not watching behind you the whole time
  6. We didnt figure out any way of scoring, but my friend and I were sitting on a roof in Saint Denis, waiting for the cops to find their way up to us for execution kills, and got bored. He ate a can of something and dropped the can, and after a bit we started shooting the can around while waiting for the cops. Could be something interesting, Shoot the Can. Get a point for every time you hit the can, first to 10 or most hits in a minute wins, or something like that.
  7. Haven't exactly been able to figure out the color of my bonus thoroughbred (it's like purple, which doesnt seem right, so it could be black with the lighting making it look purple), but after playing enough story mode, I knew what kind of behavior to expect from it, so I named it Train Wreck, and it lives up to the name quite well.
  8. Haven't tried it yet, but a capture the flag game with a deer carcass could be fun. Place it in the middle of some area and first team to bring it over to a pre -designated scoring area wins. Would have to be done in free roam, so could be tough with griefers, unless you tie them into the game somehow. Like if they come around, treat them like the third party they are, just a neutral team trying to stop anyone from scoring. Maybe give a point for each griefer kill and have it a side game to get more kills than the other team before someone scores with the "flag".
  9. I've had a few times where the crate in front of the fence in Emerald Ranch was gone, but the lamp on it was still hovering there. A couple times, I've had it where I get on my horse, but I'm still kinda standing on the ground, so my upper torso and head are above the horse with my legs coming down straight through the horse. And just last night, I had the funniest one I ever saw. Was doing the mission to go after Crawfish, and on the last cutscene with the guy who hired you, he kept moving around and talking, but his face was frozen with a look kinda like he was asleep. Eyes were essentially closed, but with a slight gap between the lids, and mouth slightly open like he was snoring, frozen like that throughout the whole cutscene, sleepwalking and talking I guess.
  10. For that, you'd need a modded controller with macro features. You can program macros into them so you can perform a string of actions at the press of a single button. Many online games ban players who use these, not sure if Rockstar would. For example, you could program a single button to dodge, target where you're looking with auto aim, and shoot all with a single press of said button. Not sure if you can program the movement of the reticle up to someone's head, as it would vary depending on distance, so that may not be a very effective macro in this game, but I'm sure there's plenty of others that would still be useful. Sometimes people just appear faster because of these, it's just programming making up for their lack of skill. Imo, it's not much different from a bot, you essentially just have human input making adjustments and initiating commands. It's different when a game has a built-in macro feature, because it's part of the game and if you don't use it, you're at a disadvantage. Those games have restrictions built in on what kind of macros you can use though, so it's regulated that way.
  11. I know how well you have bonded with the horse affects that, too. But it would make sense that some horses are less skittish than others. For free roam, I would go with the faster horse, no matter how marginal. If you're keeping an eye out for people on your radar, having the top speed is good for keeping away from them.
  12. This seems to be where people fail the most. A lot of times, they keep killing them after several fails. I have an easier time when I have to chase down a second guy, which I always look out for. Have even gone as far as carrying the second guy on foot while I keep my horse following me with the first guy I tied. It thought it does drop the number of people you're chasing if a player drops out. Is that what this topic was about?
  13. You may need to save the outfit as a custom outfit. I equipped mine from the store, then changed a couple items and saved the custom outfit in my camp and have had it equipped when I wanted it without issues. Not sure if this will fix it for you but couldn't hurt to try.
  14. Not game time, real time. you're still only travelling the distance in real time. Time in game goes a lot faster, you don't. It's still a really long distance to travel by horse.
  15. It's just gonna take a long time. The map is not all that big. Yes, there are different states, but they're also quite small. Consider this, the fastest horse in the Guinness book went 43.97 mph. So if you have one of the fastest horses in game, and you can keep up a pace of 40mph with potions and food, it'll take 25 hours of continuous riding to finish it. Not sure how accurate the horses are in game, but they seem about as fast as real horses. Best to just keep doing other things and get that one along the way.
  16. Is that second picture after gaining weight, or just some odd effect of kneeling down? Cuz he looks about 50 or so lbs heavier in the second one, mostly around the neck/chin, and I was under the impression that the weight thing wasn't working properly or something like that. Actually, looks more than a little like one of my buddies from college.
  17. I and some of my friends go with the varmint rifle every once in a while. Let's you keep an eye on your radar too. I got my first muskie online with the shotgun, just cuz I was running along the shore with it out for some reason, and the muskie poked his head way out of the water right next to me. Thought it was Jaws and shot a bit in it's direction. Poor quality but still quite a bit of money, before the fish nerf anyways. Occasionally will go dynamite fishing, too. Pretty satisfying, even for the poor fish.
  18. I usually have to go and close the entire game, and start it up again, so have started exiting the game entirely before turning off the console. That's the only way I've had these connection errors fixed, but I think some people are still having trouble even doing that. Occasionally, I'll get one while leaving a story mission we just finished, in which case I don't even try getting back on without exiting the game and starting it back up. Only had one night where I was unable to get back on at all for a bit, so left it alone for the night. Every one of the messages I got or have seen shared on here have said that it was a fault on Rockstar's end, so they may be having issues with specific internet provider's, online games get that sometimes. It's not your ISP having problems, it's Rockstar having trouble communicating with the ISP, I believe. I only took an Intro to Networking class as an elective course for my Telecommunications degree, so my networking knowledge is limited. Usually, the only thing to do in those cases is to report it with as much info about your end, and wait for them to fix it.
  19. I swear, every time I see my character page or anyone's like this, the hands always remind me of Talladega Nights, where Ricky Bobby has no idea what to do with his hands during his first interview.
  20. Wasn't at all certain about the gold, and wasn't sure if they patched out keeping your money, or if that is intended. Keeping the funds after a reset will probably stay, kind of a way to help get your character back to where it was before, especially helpful if they don't give some "plastic surgery" option or even additional character slots.
  21. Turns out it's not always kicking for inactivity, and my controller staying on didn't have anything to do with it. Just went away for an hour for dinner, came back, controller was off and I was still sitting by the fire in my camp where I had left off. Stats say I played 36 hours, so probably 24-28 hours of actual play. Not as much as I had thought considering I usually wake up early to play an hour or two before work, and then another 3 hours after work, unless I go out instead, which must've been more times in 2 weeks than I had thought, if my play time is that low. Though it does say I spent 10 minutes wanted, and I don't recall ever being wanted online. Total animals skinned/plucked is at 0 but unique ones are at 40 and perfect kills at 11 And says I created my character on 00/00/0, so seems as if the stats are not all that accurate right now
  22. Ya, been trying to avoid using gold for early unlocks, especially if I'm only a few levels away, tho I'll most likely use it eventually for something around level 90 or so when I'm only like 50. But hoping to save my gold for things that can only be bought with gold. Have enough for a few things, even without the bonus 15 gold, just don't know what I want yet. Sounds a bit like Lake Owanjila for me, not sure if you use the same body of water for those fish. Without a lure, using just whatever bait I have ATM for regular fish, been getting the muskie with a gun (shotgun the first time when it startled me right by the shore, thought it was Jaws the way he popped out of the water at me 😋, been using varmint rifle since then if I see him near the shore again, not perfect fish, but still good money, and I don't always see him with that method), and being so close to Strawberry is nice. Not always people there, and butcher is close to your side of the river that runs through it, so can usually get in and out quickly even if there are people. Couple of pelts/carcasses on the way to and from, and it's a pretty good profit.
  23. I'm confused, aren't two eyebrows normal? or were you hoping for a unibrow? I think the majority of people back then only appeared ugly because of poor hygiene. Very dirty, unkempt, teeth like in the character creator at best, etc. My local pub until recently had a picture and license from what was considered back then to be the hottest prostitute in the San Francisco area, and by today's standards, she is not attractive at all, and quite lumpy by the photo. I am hoping to be able to make a second or third character to play someday, like GTA had, because I always start with a character that I try to make look as much like me as possible, then try to make something silly/hideous when I don't feel like playing my main. This might come to RDO, but it will probably be a long time before it does.
  24. They must've been pissed you stole their 10xp from the kill. 😅 Doubtful the pelt was an issue, personally would rather you ruin a perfect pelt than let me die. Probably panicked thinking you saved him to kill him yourself. If that were me and I was gonna kill the guy anyways, I'd just sit back and watch the cougar finish him off. Not really into that tho, most likely would be doing the same thing you did and trying to help him out.
  25. There is nothing in-game at the moment, other than deleting your character and going through the character creation again, not sure how it works cuz I'm fine with how my first character turned out, spent a long time playing with the different options. They may add a plastic surgery option or something like that later down the line, but would imagine that to be like 50 gold bars or something ridiculously high if they do add it.
