You're looking for the L key. And then it's the bottom one in that menu, Internet Options I believe.

I've been playing Online on PC for a bit more than a week now, so I figured I'd give my two cents. You got a bit unlucky to start off there, overall it's really not as bad as that first mission might lead you to believe. Those Stranger missions come in many different types. I've done quite a few of them, and the Caravan Escort one is the only one I did where "rival players" got involved. (I didn't get headshot from afar, though, it was a more "fair" attack, I just wasn't good enough.) There are several other missions where other players can get involved, but so far that hasn't happened yet. I suspect that is because the Caravan Escort mission, due to its nature, is the most suited for rival players to get involved, while most of the others don't seem worth the bother for them. But basically, you picked the one Stranger mission with a decent probability of encountering rival players. (I played the mission 4 times so far, the first two times others got involved.) In general, it's not too bad either. The first few days, before I knew about Defensive mode, I got randomly shot in a town maybe two or three times - one time they also killed my horse while I was respawning; also had some 12 year old throw fire bombs while I was chilling in my camp and set my horse on fire - it wasn't hurt, just scorched, and I didn't have a brush yet so had to take it swimming; and someone caught up with me from behind one time and jumped onto my horse, kicked me off, and rode off with it - but then released it a few minutes later, I assume, as it came back to me. Since I've been mostly in Defensive mode the past week, it's been much less eventful. I've gotten shot at once or twice but not hurt, and today someone jumped out of the bushes and ran up and tried to jump on my horse (managed to evade him though,) but mostly people seem to leave me alone or occasionally wave at me. That's in general Free Roam play though, not counting the end of Free Roam Events. (Those are the short events for which occasionally a notification will pop up and then you have a few minutes to join. When those end, the game puts all the participants in the same general area where the event took place. Not all bundled up, thank heavens, spread out fairly well, but still, 15ish players in the same general vicinity increases the likelyhood of some of them being sore losers and taking out their frustration on others. But I hop straight in Defensive mode and keep an eye on the mini map and haven't really had many issues. Few bullets whizzed by here and there, but that's about it.) Anyway, just wanted to give that perspective. If you're looking to avoid PvP altogether, like me, that's largely doable. If not, there seem to be plenty of structured ways to get involved with it, while there's also plenty of room to avoid most of the unpleasantness. It's a big world, so on those rare occasions that I do run into someone I'd rather not waste energy on, I just go somewhere else and get on with the game.

As long as I don't find my horse's head in my bedroll. (Put it in Cripss's instead. He keeps packing up the camp and disappearing, heh. Then again, moving the camp around regularly isn't too bad, at least it gives some variety in the supply missions etc.)

Quick follow-up: the Cripps Trading Company is up and running! Now to get the camp to respawn again so I can continue operations, heh.

@Freakshow9191 Wow, thanks, that's very useful information. That'll speed up my gold earning significantly. @The_Liquor 4 out of 5 sounds quite acceptable indeed. And yeah, the 'war zone' aspect is much better than I expected before I tried RDR Online. Even the first few days before I knew about Defensive mode, I didn't run into too many random head-poppings. A few, but not enough to lose sleep over. Helps that it's such a big world. At the end of a fishing or animal kill challenge, when 15 or so people get dropped into the same general area, seems to be the most critical time for such stuff, but even then I can usually get away safely. @nshanny73 Yep, I had read about those offers, but never played GTA Online, and don't have a Prime account. That's ok though, I don't mind grinding for the gold. And thanks for the additional info. I'll definitely get both licenses (all three actually,) just trying to decide which to pick first. I've already come across a few collectables along the way, but since that's indeed mostly while out hunting, I think I'm still leaning towards getting the Trader role first. From the sound of that, local deliveries seem the most cost- and time-effective, but I'll definitely try out every aspect of it and then adjust based on experience. Random disconnects haven't happened too often, but a few times, and yeah, usually with a few nice pelts and carcasses on the horse, so I can see how that can get even more annoying on long missions like that. And I haven't paid much attention to it, but it feels like I've been mostly in quite populated lobbies so far, I'll start keeping an eye on it a bit more, makes sense. Thanks everyone!

Wait, are you saying that the later you turn in one of those missions, the more gold it earns? Because I've been doing loads of those Stranger missions, and they usually don't earn nearly that much. (I'm a bit partial to Bonnie MacFarlane's "On the hunt" missions. I've done some for Alden as well, though I skip the Escort missions now, as both times I tried that, "rival players" got involved and ir didn't turn out so well for me.)

As a solo player who's not into PvP, I didn't think RDR Online would be for me, but I've actually been enjoying it quite a bit the past few days. I've been doing the grind towards collecting 15 gold bars to open up one of the roles/professions. But I'm not sure yet which to pick first. I'll probably save Bounty Hunting til last, but am undecided whether to pick the Trader or Collector role first. I'm leaning towards the Trader role, as I enjoy hunting and fishing, and the camp upgrading aspect appeals to me. But then I read somewhere that some of the trader missions can involve other players attacking your trade caravan, which appeals to me less, while the Collector stuff seems more solo play by definition? Any insight into this is much appreciated. Also, do the role-specific events/missions earn you gold? I know there are 3 extra daily challenges per role which can earn you a little bit of gold, but I'm wondering if there'll be other ways to earn gold. (Or to ask the question in another way: is it worth picking one role over another because they'll earn gold faster, to then unlock the other roles.) Cheers.

I think that's normal. At least I'm pretty sure it was the same for me. To be clear, that's when just tapping TAb, right? When holding TAB to open the wheel and selecting your fist, he should sling it over his shoulder.

Later in the game a mission will open up a new option to fence your stolen horses, and that pays a bit more than stables. Also, you get more for horses you bonded with. But even then, stealing horses doesn't exactly make you rich, mostly a bit of cash on the side if you happen to end up with a horse without papers.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER** Access to leather working tools in ledger
flu007 replied to SalgoudTF's question in Questions & Answers
I'm assuming the issue is that the selected item is the one on the left page, while the leather working tools are on the right page? If I remember right, I believe the arrow keys are what you use to select the upgrade you want. Assuming you're using a keyboard; if not, I have no idea. -
11/13/19 RDR2 Official PC Update on Stuttering Issues, etc.
flu007 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
Same here, but double clicking still works. For me the patch added occasional minor stuttering, which it didn't do before. However, the game now crashes a LOT less, and since it used to do one minor stutter just before it crashed, I'm guessing that the new stuttering are the points where the game would have crashed before, but now it's just about hanging in there, so I'm not too bothered. It's brief and not super often anyway. -
(Spoilers obviousky.) When you say you got the boy's money, you mean the stash in the chimney, right? (I assume so, because I seem to remember the game guides you towards that one.) If you got that, then perhaps it has something to do with that house also being part of the money lending questline. I didn't pay attention to my log, but I got sent back there later, the house was empty (I had killed the dad but let the boy live) and there was a new stash in one of the cupboards or drawers for the money lending quest. Just guessing though.
