Has anyone done any gang hideouts since update?
Poggy replied to HooverRAD's topic in Red Dead Online
I hadnt thought of that ... Now I'm doubly annoyed by the low respawn rate. Only saw the reduction post last update. Maybe it'll return with the next one. Fingers crossed -
Out of map Guarma and cougar location near Blackwater

Cool. But why? That must have taken .... FOREVER! It does seem easy for R* to allow this for a future unlock, though. And Mexico. -
Ah, gotcha I'm not sure it would make much of a difference since you can already choose to respawn or just reload into a different sever for the same effect (perhaps even more aggravating). At least with a suicide option you can desecrate their corpses.
-
Pardon my question, and I don't want to de-rail, but why? There's already a respwn option, why not add an animation to it? I don't really desire one, but I wouldn't be against it if they did provide one. Am I right in guessing this might be a personal issue for you?

I've noticed the respawn rate seems to have massively decreased. I played a ton of hours and only had 1 hideout spawn for me - one I hadn't done before. Maybe they no longer respawn if previously cleared? Or maybe the timers have changed so they are much less frequent? It's annoying, actually, as I used to enjoy doing them. Now I cant ever seem to find one! -
I'm assuming this is just a minor update, not an expansion of activities (hope to be proved wrong). The most important thing to update/sort out is stability/connection/lag issues. Then some of the bugs involving horse loss, hat wearing, animation glitching, cold weather clothing etc. After that, making sure everyone gets their bonus gold/cash/refunds. Then camp functionality. If they do all that and still have more, then great! Ideally, I hope for minigames, more emotes and deathmode selection options.

Hmmmm... What weapon were you using? What was the range? What condition was your weapon in/upgrades/ammo? Did you experience any lag during those sessions?

That's cool, but in my opinion is somewhat of an over-reaction. YMMV, of course. I've played many hours online and only been trolled a dozen or so times. It happens maybe once every three hours of game time, less if you take precautions. If you don't let it get to you then it hardly matters. It'd be a shame to let bullies force you off the playground.

Oh, and 11) You can reset challenges you've got the gold buckle for, and doing so is worth a little gold. Some challenges, like the herb/meat selling, are likely to be reset fairly often, so form an extra xp/gold grind stream.

Most here have probably played a fair chunk of online now, and maybe have learned stuff they wish they could have been told when they first started. What tips would you pass on to new players? My top ten: 1) Getting the UE bonuses is a really big boost in a game so grindy: having a nice horse, varmint rifle, shotty and level boost from the start is fantastically beneficial. If you plan to spend some time online and can afford the UE do so. 2) Take your time in character creation and watch youtube tutorials beforehand - it's not easy to get exactly what you want and some options are easily missed. And don't be generic - many players have barely distinguishable characters. Be different. 3) Complete the main story missions as a first priority. You will do 75%. Then to do the remaining missions you have to either drop/raise your honour level accordingly. There is no benefit to having high/low honour besides the buckle, so you might as well go max/min all the way to get them (and the small reward). 4) Things that are important to purchase as soon as you can are: varmint rifle; some type of shotgun; good horse; fishing rod; river lure; improved rifle (either Lancaster Repeater or Bolt Action); horse insurance; gun upgrades. Useful but not essential are: bow; improved horse tack; cold weather clothing; off-hand holster. Things to regularly carry are: ammo, horse reviver, hay for horse, tonics, cooked meat in satchel, ginseng, chewing tobacco or similar, gun oil. Eat only food cooked/found and clean your own weapons, manage your own horse. Buying food, horse servicing, and getting guns cleaned are rip-offs. 5) If you plan on playing with mates regularly and plan on having a permanent posse, then it is better to invest in one sooner rather than later, make yourself the leader and reform whenever you play. 6) Play around with all the various settings right at the start. I strongly suggest muting chat and locking your horse to posse only. 7) Trolls exist. When joining a session crouch to get off radar, check the map. Avoid areas with multiple pink dots, especially ones with posse leaders. Some areas, especially Valentine & Blackwater are notorious for getting griefed, especially near butchers. Avoid other players as much as possible, taking detours if necessary. If you die you lose carcasses and pelts on horse; if horse dies, select heal option in menu to get them back. Be very careful how you approach butcher, esp when loaded - best to ride further to a quieter town if needed. 8 Overbuy ammo from catalogue (not in gunsmiths) and keep supplies available to pick up from any post office to restock. 9) PvP Series Matches are often quite brutally hard. Best weapons are: Varmint rifle (head shot kills); shotty; bolt action. A suggested load out to cover all ranges is: dual wield sawn offs + varmint + bolt action. 10) The grind is real, and unless you are able to sit doing one activity over an over, it is suggested that a varied approach to grinding works well. Construct a route on your map that starts off with a stranger mission (xp), then ensure you do fishing (best money source + health rank up); hunting (bird hunting is good money, game for meat for cooking, plus xp); herb collection (sell at doctor); shack ransacking (good for consumables like tonics and gun oil); and gang hideout clearance (xp + consumables + chance at treasure map), making sure you end with access to butcher, doctor and ammo supplies.

How much time have you played online so far?
Poggy replied to Suck3rPunch3d's topic in Red Dead Online
Way too addictive ... And this is only the beta ... Soooooo much more to keep us hooked. Feels good/bad man. -
Cool, but I'd rather just be able to stay warm by wearing clothes I bought and not having to consume my supplies. Even if somewhat a trivial inconvenience, it's still a negative that shouldn't exist. Otherwise why have an exposure mechanic and warm coats and vests at all?
-
Doesnt the freeze symbol on your health core signify that you are losing health to exposure like in solo story?
-
I imagine that if online ever allows players to buy, own and manage home steads, ranches and houses, there will be a lot of burning timber in the West. If other players can destroy property there would be basically no point ever owning anything - it would surely be destroyed every time you play.
-
Well, we tried the 'hunt the leader' thing - it turns out to be a game played by your posse and other PCs from across the map (I think it sends out an invite like events, and those who accept are teleported in). In the game the posse leader has to hide, the other members run interference, the rival PCs try to hunt/kill the leader. It was ok, I guess, but not great. One odd thing was that activating the game also auto changed the posse infighting settings (so posse members could hurt each other). But why? Anyone tried the other posse rivalry options to say what they are?

Lots. -
Why do nearly all the mvps in death matches look largely the same, and have names with x's in them?
-
Give it a try. No weapons. No one cares, lol
-
Ok, so I just spent half an hour wandering through StDenis getting very drunk and beating people up. No police ever got involved, I looted everyone, my honour barely moved, and I had a great time! . Oh dear ...
-
Yet many others have reported an increase. I dint know what decides the amounts.
-
That reminds me, I haven't seen a gang hideout in ages ... Are they still spawning?
-
I think many others are having all kinds of similar issues with the camp. It's very broken and quite pointless. I hope camp functionality gets an update soon like economy did. At present its worse than useless.
-
I think it's pretty good, esp as a beta. I expect it will go from strength to strength. Loving it at the moment.

Money is no longer my big grind issue anymore, because all the stuff I want to spend my cash on is level locked So I want to rank up a few levels. What are the best ways to get xp? Im guessing story and stranger missions, but I get bored of them pretty quickly. What else dishes reasonable xp, especially in short play times (I can't always spare an hour or three)?
