GTA 5 was different than the rest of the games they have done in the last 15 years..

Black hat all the way for me. What's the point of living in the brutal wild west, in a murderous gang of theives, with an arsenal at your finger tips, and walking around being lovely to everyone? F that — I can do that IRL with none of those things.

Take Two Discusses Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC
Benjo replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Even if it was 100% confirmed that there would be SP DLC, they could change their minds whenever they wanted, just like they did with GTA. I've said this a lot on these boards — why would they change the billion dollar making model they have with GTA shark cards and free online DLC for something potentially not as lucritive? The only reason for them not to adopt that approach for RDR2 and go for SP DLC could be that the RDR setting wouldn't lend itself to all the grinding and customisation that GTA Online can afford. -
This. Edit, although I would want to be able to hide. It's shitty how in GTA someone can just see where your blip is on the map and come and hunt you down. I would prefer it to be a bit more subtle in RDR so that if you are off in the mountains no one knows you are there, and you can chill, like it would be in real life.

I'm from England but I live on a Thai island now. Not many players out here so GTA 5 heists are always difficult to do because I just sit there waiting for someone to join, and BF1 servers are very often empty etc. Plus if the only servers are in the US then my ping will be bad. Not sure where R$ house all their servers tbh.

Can't see them being underwhelming with the online side considering the success of GTA. If anything it will be bigger. It was a HUUUUGE money spinner for them so they will be rubbing their hands with this game. Worst case (for me) - Empty lobbies and no way of playing heists etc in my part of the world Best case - lots of servers, good ping, lots of players, lots of things for me to do with other people

Anyone hear about that game that was due for release next month where you can play as a school shooter? Think it's Russian or something and it's been cancelled now but seriously, like what goes through peoples' minds. Like maybe, MAYBE someone might think let's make a game where you can shoot up a school and then the thought is gone in less than a second, but this game went all the way through dev and into alpha and it was still cool with them.

You're missing the best part of open world games, RDR in particular

The gore when mowing down peds in GTA 4 was particularly satisfying

What new weapons will we see/do you want?
Benjo replied to Looney Dan's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
My favourite was the buffalo rifle so I hope that makes a return. -

Yeah they look like different knives. -
I think it's from the trailer where he pulls someone off a stage coach and he just slides away.

I can't complain, I 100%ed RDR1 and I will do the same for RDR2.

Maybe that aspect was under NDA.

NEW IN RED DEAD ONLINE, WORK TOGETHER TO ROB BANKS, HIJACK STAGECOACHES AND RIDE THEM BURNING INTO TOWN, COLLECT SOME SAGE, DEFEND YOUR HIDEOUT FROM RIVAL GANGS IN FIREY SHOOTOUTS AND MORE

I love how dull this activity sounds for an online game.

FC5 did have similar. You shoot an animal it will walk off limping and moaning until eventually dying.

Passive mode for me is a must, just so I can go about my business with some idiot killing me or my horse. But I agree, it needs some work. I also hate it when someone tries to grief you, then when you start to own them they just switch to passive mode and come and stand next to you. Maybe there is some cool down time, like the system could know you are in combat so you can't go into passive mode until the heat has died down, similar to how the cops work I guess. That way you can still go into passive mode but not while you are engaged in a shoot out.

Yeah I remember you talking about cutscenes on another post and saying how much you like them. I dunno, maybe I'll give this one a bit more of my attention and see if it pulls me in.

Thing is, we're not questioning why any of the other gang members weren't in RDR1. Like the blonde haired girl (forget her name), where is she? Just because AM isn't in RDR1 doesn't necessarily mean he ends up in the ground.

The Blackwater Massacre, 1899. Heidi McCourt and Cole McFarlane
Benjo replied to BelleStarr's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Maybe he was talking about JM, leading up to the reason they left him for dead. -
What system are the screenshots taken on?
Benjo replied to BelleStarr's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
The demos were done on PS4 so that's a pretty safe bet. And yeah, it won't be another Watchdogs, R$ never show something unless it's 100% ready to show, meaning they are only showing genuine graphics and gameplay etc, otherwise they could just do nice renderings whenever they want. -
Well, yes and no. Not with RDR1, the online was just annoying and pointless. On RDR1 I used to just wander around doing things, making my own story, getting 100%, making money for the sake of it, hunting for no reason, that kind of thing. With R$ for me completing the story mode is just a way to get everything unlocked, and I hate to admit it but sometimes I just skip cutscenes straight away even if I haven't watched them before as I'm so uninterested in the story.
