Does what you wear influence how people act toward you? For example, would wearing horribly mismatched clothing make people laugh at you? Would people fear you if you wear an empty bull skull for a mask? Etc. what combinations can I wear that’ll make people like me more or less?

I think NPCs react to: masks, drawn guns, dirty and bloodstained clothing, sickness - and I think that's about all.  But I might be wrong.

Edit: Oh, and if you are wearing a hat you stole from them, lol.

People are making fun of my Legend of the East outfit all the time and I can’t blame them. It looks like sh*t, except for the vest. I wish the boosts were active when wearing something else.

100% agree, considering all the effort required to get it you'd think they would have made that outfit more appealing.

Haven't really seen any outfit that I would find appealling.  Usually I pick a outfit then modify it so it looks cooler.

This is why I always help strangers in need.  A lot of them show up in a random town later in the game

and tell you to put anything in the General Store on their tab, so I always pick out full suits.

It's been awesome because once you have the full thing, you can mix and match with pieces from other sets if need be.

I don't wear masks, no need for them with the bandanna already in your inventory.  I get the blood comments coming in from hunting, get told i need a bath, etc.  Only time i've gotten a hat comment was wearing the beaver hat from the guy that i knocked out and stole it from.

Get lots of comments about my horse.

Oh and if you're attacked by wolves in the road, and just blast them away without a care for skins, then the people passing by while you're moving them off the road will make fun of your hunting skills.

I noticed when I am dirty as all sin they kind of don't want anything to do with me. Not that I blame them, I likely smell like something a croc digested and shat out a month ago decomposing in a swamp.

So i killed a guy that said something about my horse being dirty on the way back to camp. right after we ran into another idiot riding on the wrong side of the road and my horse and i went flying (he and his horse died).  Shot him in the head and stole his hat.  I get back to camp and go to Pearson to turn in my hides and Javier walks by and says "I like the new hat".
