I wouldn't make that assumption about side quests if I were you. You might want to do them as they appear as some are chapter specific.

I agree. Rockstar has put so much effort into incorporating the side quests and challenges, even since RDR1. I remember thinking that collecting plants and herbs seemed kinda random and distracting in the first instalment, but are much more integrated and reward based in this game, with benefits that you want and help drive the game, like deadeye improvement and better weapons. Stuff that makes sense and isn't just put there to pad the content.

I don't understand why people want to cane the main story missions and do nothing else either in these types of games. As others have said such people are missing out on so much the game has to offer. I always intersperse main missions with side missions in RPGs to spin the game out longer.

Thats because focusing on the main story keeps it fresh and feels like a TV series.

There's one very good reason to complete all of the side missions, challenges, quests before the end of chapter 6...….

Spoiler

You wont be able to complete them as Arthur or your horse!

That's the main reason not to rush through story mode.

By doing side missions you also unlock valuable equipment that makes the story missions more enjoyable. The Legendary Satchel for example ...

Personally i waited 8 years for this game.. when it was announced, i remember how thrilled i got, only to be dissapointed by the delay that came after, by more than a year!

I did NOT rush trough the game, i wanted every detail and aspect of it.. and maaan did i love it.. its such a great game..

Still have to say, that ofcourse, RDO is a "Different" game as it is right now, so i will have to wait and see what they add, and how the game will be just as popular. Ofcourse, being in its beta stage, there is ALOT missing.. But im sure, it will come.. With time!

I dont know why people would rush trough it.. i mean, why brag, if you cant even remember the scenes and dialogs.. thats just lame!

Last night talking with another player and he asked if I beat the game yet.  I said no, I am trying to do as much as I can in one experience.   He then tells me that he beat it in under 48 hours.   He then wants to brag about how he finished it before me.  I personally don't care I am enjoying the game.  So other then being rude.  Why is it players feel a need to rush through the game?

By the way, he did no side missions, hunting, fishing, or anything else that was not part of a mission.

Rushing through a game and skipping half the content is really nothing to brag about. Your friend is completely missing the point of RDR2 if he things completing it in 48 hours is an achievement.

I am on my second playthrough and I am doing EVERYTHING, taking my time with it. And only now do I understand what took Rockstar 8 years to craft. Possibly the best game I have ever played.

I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I mean I have rushed through certain games, and skip side quests/missions sometimes, but so far in RDR2 I've found myself taking it very slow and doing everything I possibly can. I'm sure I will spend at least 100 hours on my first playthrough if not a bit more. I actually bought a PS4 just for this game mainly, and I've had a ton of fun playing so far. I think the game is wonderful, although the controls could be better. But yeah, this isn't the type of game that I could understand wanting to rush through and "Beat" as quickly as possible. I want to take it all in and try to really immerse myself in the game. To each their own though I guess!
