I was doing well until I got the the Herbalist level whatever, where it tells you to go pick one of each f*cking plant in the game. AGAIN! It is absolutely ridiculous and quite frankly not worth my time. lol that one is easy, pick herbs as you ride around, there's another post for this challenge here somewhere that someone had an excel sheet for all the area's they grow in. not 100% accurate but close enough.

I got a little frustrated when I got down to the last 2 and couldn't figure out wtf I was missing. Then I was exploring around New Austin and found red sage. Same ****ing thing, but it count's as a totally different plant... I think the other was the desert sage. The rest are easy to come across while hunting. @Dubya75 As long as you try to pick stuff as you go, you'll get most of them (again) in no time. I was pissed when I first got to that challenge though...

I only got past them once, but that was before I noticed it had to be a dry run... THAT pissed me off. I wouldn't bother until you progress through the story more. Even then, it's still a pain in the ass to get it right.

My goal now is to see how far down into new austin in can ride before they kill me lol So far i've made it across the border by my dead body length Thank god for the never dying DLC horses too, i'd have spent a fortune on these trying with good bought horses.
Foxtrot Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 For sharpshooter challenge “Kill 6 animals without switching or reloading a weapon” I simply went to Emerald Ranch at night and shot a bunch of sheep and goats with the Lancaster. There’s not many people there at night, so you can simply ride away after slaughtering half of the animals there.
Kormath Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 Finally finished herbalist. Updated 10 with the meat list. Found the RDR2 guide here somewhere is wrong, you can't use herptile, game bird, or stringy meat. You can't season them. And it does count game and big game as 2 different meats.

Kormath Posted January 31, 2019 Author Posted January 31, 2019 Horseman 9 is my most hated challenge so far. Damn puddles in the route i was taking, so i found a new route online. It works, but then right when i get just north of the ranch outside Blackwater, friggin cougar shows up and 3 times in a row my horse (El Stupido Dos, since the original El Stupido was Arthur's) runs into a boulder and i go flying when the camera pans to the side to show the cougar. And now it just dawns on me i can do this in the daytime since i'm not running the tracks most of the way there. Only thing to worry about is the long bridge over the Dakota river southeast of Strawberry.

Moosh89 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Half the time I ride my horse on the roads, I kill about 2 or 3 animals by trampling between destinations. Once that challenge came up, I couldn't kill anything that easy. I ended up locking onto rabbits with L2 and full galloping in a circle chasing them until I killed them lol. I once stepped on a chipmunk 2 times and the little sh*t kept surviving lol 1
Foxtrot Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 For Bandit 5 ($250 bounty), I just rolled into the centre of Saint Denis and started shooting people and kept shooting until I got killed. In hindsight, it’s a good idea to do this on foot if you want to ensure that your horse survives. Bandit 7 (rob $50 from townsfolk). The greenhouse where you meet Algernon Wasp - there’s rich looking folk there who are too dumb to carry weapons. Wait until two or three are together and rob them one after another - then ride off over the fields until your wanted level expires. Rinse and repeat. Robbing people during missions also counts towards this one.
Foxtrot Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 I had problems busting someone in poker in Saint Denis. I saved this one for the story mission where you’re guaranteed a bust-out, but that doesn’t work (I read somewhere that it did, but not for me). So, I had to spend two and a half hours sat in the saloon in town before I finally busted someone. I’m sure not looking forward to the “win three hands in a row” challenge.

I’m sure not looking forward to the “win three hands in a row” challenge. busting someone out i thought was pretty simple. play with a full table, or almost full, took me like 3 or 4 hands. Win 3 in a row wasn't bad either, do the opposite, play against 1 or 2 and go all in. i did that one in Valentine, seemed like it was easier to win there.
Foxtrot Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 That’s what I figured it would be like. I was unlucky to have a high-roller on the table who edged me with a better hand more often than not. He also busted other players when they were short, so I had to keep waiting for new players with a smaller pot. This table took a lot longer than Valentine, where I busted someone with ten minutes. I’m sure not playing poker in Saint Denis again!

I'd shoot those guys then run away and go back and play again might not be good if you're playing a white hat though. i kept my red hat until chapter 5 or 6, to many missions there give you good honor.
Foxtrot Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Yeah, I should have quit and let the players respawn. I let myself get sucked into a gambling problem, that’s for sure. When Gambler 10 comes up, I’m going to try and see whether the two hands you win in the fixed poker game mission will carry over, then I just have to win the first hand after that.
TimmyJ Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 So here I am 5 hours into gambler challenge 9 when I'm about to win my third game in a row at emerald station when all of a sudden bob just decides to not pick up the last 2 tiles... The man is having a brain aneurism it looks like. This challenge is actually starting to make me not enjoy this game anymore which is a shame because we all know how fun this game is, whoevers idea it was at rockstar to throw this challenge in deserves to be shot in the back with a varmint rifle, hog tied, then thrown in a murfee brood camp butt naked.

Don't play against more than 1 person and it's fairly easy. you add another player and your chances of winning 3 in a row are much worse.
Moosh89 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Don't forget that any challenge that requires you to win x amount of games "in a row" that you can simply get up from the table when you're about to lose and rejoin, leaving your win streak intact. NOTE you can't exit the game or save, it must be done in the same play session.
Foxtrot Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Well that's a good tip. I was assuming that exiting the game would be a technical "fold". Now I can just concentrate on getting high cards instead.
Foxtrot Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 This trick also works for Gambler 8. If you see that there’s no way that you’ll win with three hits (or someone else gets blackjack right away), just quit the table and immediately rejoin the game. Do this quickly enough and the table will reset. It doesn’t lower the odds of you winning, but it does cut out a lot of the tedious animation while other people play their game out. It took me about two to three hours to finally get this one. Note that getting yourself killed resets the challenge- I worked this out when I accidentally choked someone in the Van Horne saloon.
Foxtrot Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 It seems like gambler 9 and 10 have changed over time. With gambler 9, I had to win three complete games in a row (getting over 60 points at Emerald Ranch). Ive played a few hands of poker, but not even got the first of three prompt yet, despite winning a few hands. So I still don’t know what a poker “victory “ current means.

That's how the Domino's has always been, win 3 full games (60 pts to a game) in a row. Not sure about poker, encountered a bug maybe? A win is a win, you take the chips, or in the case of a split pot you take the most chips, i had a split pot for one of my wins.
Foxtrot Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Hmmm. From looking at some YouTube videos on this, it looks as though you don’t get the challenge notification on your first win, neither does the progress bar increase. I only see the pop up when the third hand is won. So maybe that’s what’s fooling me.

Foxtrot Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 For Bandit 10 (rob a train 5 times), I used the same good train three times in a row. Got on it, stole a can of peaches and then rode off. Waited for the red "someone's pissed at you" marker to fade away, and then returned and got on the same train and stole something else. Repeated again and I got my final 3 and the bandit 10 popped.
Foxtrot Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Huh, so after all my problems trying to get Gambler 10, it turns out to be stupidly simple. I just went to Valentine and went all-in three times in a row and won each one. 1
Foxtrot Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Phew, that's Horseman 9 done. I was afraid that crossing Dewberry creek at Emerald Ranch would count as water, but thankfully it didn't. I got a little slowed up by a Skinner ambush - I don't think they expected me to just ignore them and ride on through.
Foxtrot Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 If you're finding it difficult to break horses (like I did), then I figured out that simply holding LS to the right and pressing "Calm" while being bucked whenever prompted seemed to do the trick the vast majority of the time. Just look online for the locations of the horses, you normally find 1-3 breeds of horse in any one spot. You sometimes need to force a respawn to get the breed you're after in an indicated location.
