Has anyone broken a line while fishing online?

During the solo story mode you could easily break a fishing line when getting to aggressive with reeling when the fish was struggling. In online play after unlocking the fishing pole and spending 1 gold on a river lure I have yet to see my line break, and I have been testing some serious aggressive reeling and direction when the fish struggles. Please don’t get me wrong I like the fact I haven’t lost a very expensive lure, but I also have been just fishing in the rivers for bass and salmon. Has the lines been breaking in other locations like the lakes up north where you can land a 19lb+ Muskie? Or maybe the  Pickrell south of st Dennis? Please advise.

Get the "Special Spinner" from the swamp  vendor. 3 gold but you won't lose it and it catches everything in the water.

I haven't personally but I have heard others who have and lost their lure because of it.  I think in one recent post, someone had mentioned that they paid in gold for that lure they lost.   ......ouch.

The small fish in story mode never break lines, so I would guess it's the same online. Just make sure you know it's small before you go crazy reeling it in.

I have broke lines on bass in story mode, being more aggressive online has not produced the same result. I am wondering if there is a difference because some lures now cost gold (river for example) I have also heard of rumors of lines breaking in online mode. I just haven’t heard from anyone that has said  yeah that happened to me.

I have lost a lure to a muskie. Salmon are no problem but when that muskie fights quit reeling!

I have lost 2 river lures online by being too aggressive. That was fishing normal sized fish. I take it much easier now.

Yeah i lost only near the dock at blackwater and i wasn't even going that hard on it .

Finally happened to me lake fishing last night. Small mouth snapped it as I got to aggressive at the lake near strawberry. It was a lure from the swamp vendor and not a catalog one, but I was actually glad to see it can happen. Thanks for all who responded.

RDR2 On line, I have lost two lake spinners.... The first time where the fish was obviously vast and although I was gentle imo... it still broke the line.

The second occasion when some delightful NPC in a canoe, run through my line when I had a large fish on ..... He got a very sudden case of terminal lead poisoning for his trouble.

why fish when u can pick up your fish instead.. and catch alot more

Watch out for trees and rocks near the shore. If a hooked fish takes the line around those, it can break it. Or, at least get the fish loose. I haven't lost a lure yet when that has happened.
