Me too.  I had a couple of *** turkeys strapped to my saddle last night, and two hideouts spawned in rapid succession.

My horse (reverse dapple Nokota) has a tendency to wander off so far in a firefight that she fast travels when I whistle, so I had to clear both without getting out of the saddle, except to deal with the leader.  She's fine once the bullets stop flying.

Not that 2 turkeys are enough to retire on, but I didn't want to lose them.

I always hitch my horse to a tree just outside of the hideout area before I go in to clear it out.

I really should've thought of that!  Thanks!

I've got so used to her running off when I dismount in emergency situations (ambushes and the like) that tying her up in a controlled fashion never even occurred to me!

Last night I made the mistake of trying to hitch my horse next to a gator in the swamp(which I initially didn't see), before heading in to clear out a hideout. LOL, it wasn't pretty. Got bucked and my horse took off like a shot. Luckily I landed far enough away from the gator that it didn't come after me. Shot the gator, whistled for my horse to come back and all was good.😊

Update:

I am now convinced that camps are more likely to spawn if you're carrying quality carcasses.  Had another couple in quick succession last night with a *** Pronghorn buck on the back of my horse.

Also, has anyone else noticed that some of the outlaws have got (comparatively) richer?  Whereas looting them always turned up something in the order of 7c-11c, I am now getting 4 or 5 bodies each camp with more like 70c-90c.

They're still pretty unsuccessful outlaws, but they must have upped their game a little bit.

I first noticed this at some point over the weekend, thought it might be a glitch, but it is at least 5 camps over 3 days by now.

There might be something to that since I always seem to have one on the back of my when it spawns. Hasn't  seemed to help with map spawns though.

Ok, so I tested this throughout the weekend and I'm pretty certain that having a hi level carcass on your horse makes hideouts and outlaws spawn more frequently. The first time I tested this I went to 10 hideout spots without  an animal on my horse and one hideout spawned. I then joined a new session  and went to the same hideouts and 4 spawned with an ambush as well.  The second time I stayed in the same session, repeated the test  and found 0 spawned  without the deer and with the deer I got 3 hideouts/2 ambushes. I also looted 2 treasure maps as well.  It's also worth noting that both times I spawned in tumbleweed and fast traveled to Rhodes, so my side of the map wasn't filled with other players.

I tested it myself last night. I was hunting in the Roanoke area with a 3* large gator pelt on my horse. I got the hideout up near Brandywine to spawn as well as the one a little south of Annesburg along the Kamassa River. I got a treasure map out of it as well. That's awesome!😎

Ya know I noticed that too. I was up north of annesburg hunting. Had some 3 star pelts and a cougar and I was just traveling along the railroad killing stuff as I made my way slowly to Valentine as StD was too full of people. I ran into 3 hideouts and an ambush. I hardly ever see anything when I'm not carrying stuff.

Really? It's been pretty consistent for me. I have a few questions for you:

Did you skin the animal?

How many stars was the animal?

What type of animal?

What  areas have you tried this in?

And let's not forget the MOST important question.  How lucky are you?   RNG doesn't work the same for all and part of this is pure, unadulterated RNG.

With maps at least yes. I got lucky the other night finding one while using this technique. I haven't found one since, even though hideouts continue to spawn when carrying a 3* carcass on the back of your horse.

Animal was not skinned

3 star animal

Snapping Turtle, Alligator, Pronghorn

Mostly in Lagras

I have no idea how to measure luck. It seems I have none.

Skin your animals. You get more for selling all the parts(carcass, pelt, meat etc) separately. I skin mine right on the spot. The only time I wait to skin it is if I already have a carcass on the back of my horse. I'll lasso the unskinned animal(you can't lasso a skinned one) and drag it on horseback to the butcher. I'll then skin it in front of the butcher, put the pelt on my horse, pick up the carcass and sell it along with everything on my horse.

Ok, I've done this mostly in Lemoyne, give it a try there. I've never done it with anything else but a 3* deer/buck so I can't confirm the other animals.

Works for me with a 3* gator, either the pelt of a large or the carcass of a small.

Lagras is in the Lemoyne area.

Ok, so if it's worked for you with multiple pelts/animals and I've  gotten it to  work all across the map, I have another guess.... I always spawn in the opposite area of where I intend to play, so my side of the map isn't full of other players. Maybe that increases the odds of hideouts spawning for me since other players aren't there spawning hideouts also.
